THE BASICS:

Enjoy a pet-friendly dry-camping RV or tent camping adventure close enough to town to partake in the city and area’s sights and experiences, but far enough away to get away from the rat race.

We have 2 tent-only sites and 3 tent-or-RV sites located on primitive desert property (3+ acres) abutting hundreds of acres of State Land Trust with quad trails, etc., where cactus, coyotes, cattle, and critters abound.

Our property is located less than 10 minutes from RV dump sites, restaurants, and shopping, and even less to the peace and quiet of the vast and beautiful Sonoran desert. For even a short trip, there are lots of sights to see and things to do in the area.

You’ll drive a short way down a bumpy private road which “dead-ends” on our property. Your reservation will help us match you up with your campsite based on your setup and preferences.

AREA ATTRACTIONS:

Enjoy a hike in the beautiful Saguaro National Monument (East or West) or Sabino Canyon. Take a drive up to the Coronado National Forest on Mt Lemmon. Tour Colossal Cave or Kartchner Caverns. Visit the San Xavier Mission, the Sonoran Desert Museum, the Pima Air & Space Museum, or the Titan Missile Museum. Attend the International Gem & Mineral Show in January/February or tour one of the many art galleries in and around town. Partake of delicious Southern Arizona wines or craft beers in nearby Sonoita or at one of our recommended breweries. Visit Tucson’s vibrant downtown area for food and concerts. There’s lots to do and see … so much more!

THE CAMPING EXPERIENCE:

Enjoy the cool desert nights and dark starry skies while listening to coyotes and neighbor’s rooster and peacock sitting by a warm fire. Host a small party of friends and family for a weekend of camping without driving too far away from town. Or just enjoy a night of rest after a long day of driving or adventuring.

You can pitch a tent or park your self-contained small RV, travel trailer, or camper on site. We even allow car campers for those who need a safe spot to park and sleep for the night on a long cross-country trip.

More details are in our listing, and we highly recommend that people read the fine print to understand any limitations on our amenities. We're constantly improving our party area and the campsites, so it's important to know before your arrive.

IN A NUTSHELL:

If you want darkness for night skies, we recommend the RV camp/parking area for either tents or RVs. If you don’t mind some lights, you can tent camp and/or park close to the party area and camp privy.

Please let us know what your setup is ahead of your visit so we can help to get you situated where you’ll be most comfortable. We’ll reach out pretty quickly after you reserve your spot to learn this information and we’ll send an digital booklet with more info by email no later than 1 day before you arrive.

ABOUT THE LIGHTS:

Because it’s a desert, and to protect us and our guests from accidentally wandering into cactus or other prickly bushes or trees, we have solar lights in the trees and bushes throughout the main party area, and less in the camp area, just to mark the perimeter.

Your experience is up to you, so pick your choice of campsite when you reserve. If you want complete darkness, you’ll be further from amenities; if you want easy access to amenities, you gotta be near the lights. RV/tent-camp sites (there are 3) are a little further from the fire pit and party area, but a very quick walk.

We had such a great time camping on Audrey's land in Vail. She and Steve ensured we had everything we needed and then some, including suggestions for places to visit, where to shop, and how to best experience Saguaro NP. We enjoyed beautiful sunsets over the mesquite bushes each night, the yipping of nearby coyotes, friendly neighbors, and a great bonfire surrounded by twinkling solar lights, custom made pallet yard furniture, and hours of great company!
I have zero complaints about our time there and look forward to visiting again in the future.

We had a great stay here! Audrey was so helpful and welcoming. It was very quiet and peaceful out there. I would say if you're looking for dark at night, bring a sleep mask as there are a lot of solar lights around the camping area. They are very enjoyable in the evening, though!

We were passing through and needed an affordable no-hassle safe place to park our car and camp for the night. Audrey‘s place fit the bill perfectly. Be advised, the amenities are extremely basic, and that is OK because they made that clear in the campsite description. We had everything we needed and nothing we didn’t. I would recommend this place and I would camp here again.

We had no difficulty finding the location because of the detailed instructions that were provided to us by the host. We showed up just before sundown and as it got dark, all of the solar lights came on. If we had shown up after dark, I think we still would’ve been fine because the area was very well marked. The communal fire pit and hang out area looked pretty nice, but we did not make use of it because we were so tired from driving.

We had a great experience camping on Audrey and Steve's land. We tent-camped for two nights in February and the weather was perfect. The sunsets at their property are an added bonus! We used the location to go to Saguaro East, which was very close, as well as Saguaro West and Mt. Lemmon. Audrey and Steve were very helpful and answered any questions quickly. The listing is exactly as described, and I would definitely stay again if in the area!

Perfect location. So close to the city. Reminds me of a house party place but instead of a house just an amazing patio area to eat, drink, watch the stars or sit at the campfire (nice and secluded though). Would be better for a larger group but I just did it as an overnight spot. The host were super chill and helpful.

Beautiful CactusNice walking area.

About the hosts :
Audrey & Steve are very kind, accommodating and very friendly hosts. There were a couple of days of hard freeze out in Tucson when I stayed there and they very graciously allowed me to stay in the camper on the property.

About the property:
The property is approximately 25 minutes away from downtown Tucson. It is located away from the busy roadway and is very peaceful and quiet. It can get windy out there , but you should be good if you tie down the tent securely. The campsite provides great views for star gazing with very little light pollution.

This was by far the best camping experience I've ever had and cannot recommend Audrey & Steve's campsite enough.
