We had an amazing weekend at Choccolocco Campground. We went to visit friends and explore Cheaha. Our host, John, was so gracious with his land. You can tell he takes great pride in the experience he provides. The sites are level, well maintained and spaced apart, with full hookups (water/sewer/electric). He also has converted 3 old silos into the cutest bathrooms (complete with shower) and laundry room. While we were there John even made a bench for us to use around the campfire in his workshop! John was thoughtful and attentive to his guests while still giving us the space to explore. Wonderful experience, I hesitated even writing a review because I wanted to keep it our hidden hideaway! Thank you John for a great weekend!
This is a hidden gem. The camp site was great. The shower and restroom were perfect after a long drive . Very peaceful. And John was helpful. We look forward to staying again and we'll be bringing friends.

We loved John’s place. Even though it has only been open for a month, John has worked hard to get everything ready for a great camping experience. Oh & the silo bathrooms & laundry room are so awesome! We will definitely be back asa soon as possible!

We loved, loved, loved this place! 37 private acres of beauty adjacent to a creekside lot where we were able to kayak using the owner's kayaks and fish all day. From the beautiful sunrises to the free firewood to the free use of laundry facilities our expectations were exceeded for sure. This spot is close to Cheaha State Park home of the highest elevation in Alabama. You can literally see for miles! Great location, easy to access from the highway (even in a big rig), and a super generous and kind host, John. Book now! You won't regret it! We even stayed an extra night... yes, it was that good!
Johns place is great. All the sites are well kept and distant from each other. The bathrooms and shower are clean and made out of old silos which was super cool. The farm is beautiful and so is the creek. John was nice enough to show us down there and tell us more about him and his property. John wears an Alabama hat but had auburn chairs at our campsite; both sides are welcome. War Eagle, though, haha. We loved staying here and you will too. We will definitely be back soon. Thanks John!! -Lucy and Cole

Lucy - Glad you liked my Campground - Looking Forward to seeing yall again. Gotta go Kayaking next time.
The location was perfect for a night stopover. The campsite was so great we really wished we could have stayed a few days! John was a fabulous host and seriously, the campsite was fabulous.
The initial entrance doesn’t have a sign up yet but that the only hiccup in this whole experience. If you’re watching for the mailbox on the street you won’t miss the number. Johns directions were great.
We are saving this campground and hope to come back. If you’re looking in this area you can’t go wrong here. Do yourself a favor and stay a couple of days if you can! We hope to next time we come through the area!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. John was more than welcoming and accommodating. No doubt, this will be our place anytime we come back to this area! Full hookups, privacy, wildlife, nature, trails, creek. Clean facilities, we ll maintained prperty
One of the best hipcamps out there. Great private mountain top. Nice bathrooms, laundry, shower. Secluded but close to Anniston. Highly recommended.
