Quiet and secluded is what we love about Camp at Lindsey Mill.  Being able to feel completely disconnected without having to pack in for miles is what folks love about this spot.  Smith Creek effortlessly gives background music to the perfect vacation spot for either a couple's romantic retreat or a family's gathering.   Given the perfect location and the included amenities of a HOT outdoor shower (in season), sink area and even an enclosed sleeping or gear area makes the Camp at Lindsey Mill a sought after spot !!  Have a larger group where you might want to disperse??  Sure-  these mountains are perfect for exploring and boon docking where ever you might land !

Folklore has said that this little oasis was, at one time, a tiny little town-Ocala, with a Grist Mill, Post Office, Mercantile, Black Smith shop and even a few houses. Remnants of these can be found as you explore the 70+ acres of isolated mountains and creeks.

As you turn left off of the Wild Cat Trail foot bridge you will take short (0.2 mile) hike up the hill to the designated camp site. This site is situated beside Smith Creek that is perfect to play in or just listen to as you contemplate your day. There is a fire pit with seasoned and dry wood for your use as well as a cowboy cook set for you to use if you so desire.

Above the camp site approximately another 1/10th of a mile is our natural spring site where the water comes straight out of the mountain !! We have piped it out for your ease of use all the way down to camp. (We do ask that you are careful when you place your water vessel at the pipe to get water as to not dislodge the pipe).  You can also use the water that we have piped down from the upper spring for washing or drinking.

The site is close enough to the road for you to get your geer and belongings without being exhausted, but far enough off (especially during the spring and summer) to never see a car on the road.

There are miles of old logging trails that have been cleared as well as an old road, Wild Cat Trail, that was once used as the main road from Dugspur to Hillsville.

Wanting to go out and about during your stay?  Perfect location.  Dugspur is only 12 miles from Hillsville (grocery stores) and a few restaurants, 26 miles from Galax (good restaurants, antique shops, and the New River Trail, which is perfect for hiking and biking), and 23 miles to Floyd, Va (restaurants, a GREAT general store, and cool sights).

We came from NC and the drive was the first great part of the visit. We enjoyed winding roads up and down the mountain and beautiful views that only the birds get to see everyday.

Once we arrived at camp, we all enjoyed a small hike(especially our 4 legged friends) to the campsite with a nice creek flowing right next to us. We made a couple trips to get all our gear and realized that we had forgotten the one thing we really needed, our tent. Luckily Jennifer has a small structure onsite that I was able to tie a poncho over the door and we decided that would suffice so headed up the trails to give the dogs a workout. Back at camp we cooked brats in the awesome camp stove setup and enjoyed the fire for a few hours before heading in the for the night, we even got to hear some fox's messing about during the night.

It was a chilly night for all of us but the spot was just right. We will definitely be back to explore, fish, and hopefully remember our tent this time.

We absolutely loved the location of this camp. It was a first camping trip for our boys, so the amenities of a toilet and shower was a great addition to an otherwise primitive style camp.
