Description

Lumber River is one of America’s few remaining wild and scenic rivers which makes it a must-see destination. Why not spend a few days here and camp at one of two designated primitive camping areas within Lumber River State Park? From there you can plan a small boat or canoe trip, and really get up close and personal with this marvelous waterway. Bring your rod and catch some dinner from the water and then settle in for a sleep under the stars. Don’t let life lumber past you, get out there and make some memories in the wild.

I randomly stopped at Lumber River for a mid road trip hike with my dogs and quickly realized I had stumbled upon a truly relaxing park. It was quiet, yet spacious with beautiful hiking along the river and spacious camps sites. I stayed longer than intended, but am planning on going back for a longer trip that involves canoeing and backcountry camping. It's the perfect merger of convenient yet hidden.
