Description

Vermilion Lake is surrounded on all sides by beautiful bits of nature: the Chippewa National Forest, Superior National Forest, and Kabetogama State Forest. There are several campground options, but none are quite as unique as camping on Hinsdale Island. The island’s campsites are among the lake’s most remote…and you can only reach ‘em via boat. There aren’t any creature comforts out here—unless you count “serenity” and “quiet time in nature” as creature comforts (we certainly do!). Spend your days paddling, boating, fishing, swimming, hiking—well, you get the point. No matter how you choose to spend your camping trip, you’ll want to come back here again and again.
