Description

With coveted electrical service and fairly modern toilets, Porcupine Mountains Union Bay Campground keeps it pretty contemporary. Enjoy your exploration around Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park, lovingly nicknamed "The Porkies" by someone who obviously didn't think the park would be self-conscious about its size, psssh. Forests, lakes, and long stretches of streams and rivers make The Porkies beautiful in our eyes, and we think you'll see the glamour in its hefty grounds as well.

Excellent hiking trails, location and just a beautiful park. Five different campgrounds from which to choose, along with backcountry sites and cabins. Right on the shore of Lake Superior, this park is an absolute gem and a wonderful place to visit. Waterfalls galore, interpretive trails, excellent visitor center and great facilities. Union Bay Campground has amenities and electric, Presque Isle (My Fave if not backpacking) is rustic as well as the three outposts.
Something for everyone here. GO!

Nice camp on the shore of Lake Superior and the entry to the Porkies. Electric hookups.

I've camped here twice and can not tell you how much I love it. Plenty of campsites and as private as you want to be. Loved watching the stars at night and hear the waves of Lake Superior. Wonderful place to visit.

Check out the back country sites, especially the rustic cabins and yurts. Our favorites for over 20 years.

Lots of RV's and the sites really close together, however you can see the lake. I would suggest getting one of the rustic sites or cabins. Be sure to skip the Visitors Center and head right to the Park Headquarters to make reservations. Bring all the DEET.
