We began operating our 150 acre farm in 2011 and became the first Certified Naturally Grown Livestock farm in West Virginia in 2013. We raise 100% grass-fed beef, Western and Chinese medicinal herbs.  Our family garden supplies more than half of our vegetables and our favorite berries, and our flock of chickens supply eggs and an early morning wake-up call for our campers! There are no GMO's, pesticides, herbicides or fungicides used on our farm. We are 3 miles from Terra Alta, a rural town with a locally owned restaurant and a local craft beer brewery featuring an exciting rotating cast of food trucks. We are 20 minutes from Swallow Falls State Park (MD), featuring Muddy Creek Falls, awesome river swimming and gorgeous hiking in an old growth Hemlock forest.   We are also 20 minutes from Herrington Manor State Park (MD) were there is a lake for swimming, fishing, and canoeing.  Cathedral State Park (WV) a virgin Hemlock forest with 400 year old trees about 45 minutes away.  Deep Creek Lake (MD) is 40 minutes away and offers motor boat rentals, Golf, Skiing and swimming. There is skiing, hiking, biking, tubing, rafting, kayaking and much more to explore within 40 minutes of our farm. The best white water rafting on the east coast is 20-40 minutes away. Farm products are available for purchase on-site. Campers can choose to to have a farm to table meal cooked for them as an extra at checkout. We prepare most of our food from scratch using local produce, meat and bulk organic dry goods. We occasionally make yogurts, noodles, simple cheeses, and fermented foods. We welcome campers of all kinds!

This a traditional site in the heart of the farm next to the family garden with picnic table and fire pit. It is an open space, large enough to comfortably accommodate 5 tents. There are multiple trees perfect for hanging your hammock in the shade. The compost toilet, adjacent to the site, is shared with another campsite. Parking is next to our barn about 100ft from the site. Potable water (from a frost-free hydrant) is available about 30ft from the site. This a traditional site in the heart of the farm next to a small pond with picnic table and fire pit. It is a sloping wooded space, with flat spots to comfortably accommodate 2-3 tents. There are multiple trees perfect for hanging your hammock in the shade. The compost toilet, about 50ft away, is shared with another campsite. Parking is on a gravel lane adjacent to the site. Potable water (from a frost-free hydrant) is available about 80ft from the site. The pond is only for viewing, no swimming or fishing, please. We have nesting birds occasionally and we expect their habitat to be respected. Possum Farm Camp
The camp site was beautiful and spacious for four people. The compost toilet was in good condition although the temps were too cold for the showers. Jennifer had plenty of wood for purchase and we had a great time with the farm dog, although he can be nosey at night and is a good reminder to pack up all food and food items well and securely when camping. We would definitely return!

Remote mountain living experience

It was great to camp at possum tail. Rain moved in while I was there, but I had a great view of storms coming across the mountains in the distance. Bishop the big friendly farm dog dog stopped by a couple of times. He was well trained and a good watch dog at night, which was a bonus in this remote area.

This was our second stay at this campsite. Both times we've had a blast. The camp hosts are very friendly and accomodating, including Bishop the farm dog. This time we brought two kids who had two kids who had never been camping before, and it was the perfect place to introduce them to it.

The plot is pretty much what everyone else has said and described. Very basic but the campsite area is clean which we appreciated very much. Jennifer and her husband were very accommodating with what we needed to set up our SUV tent. Like Jennifer said the view of the sunset was beautiful and we loved seeing the cows, hearing the frogs and knowing that Bishop the dog had us "safe" over night ;) We ended up having to leave one night early and again Jennifer made sure we got looked after so as hosts I would give them 5 stars out of 5! Tasty eggs too 😋

Jennifer was very warm and kind and immediately ready for us upon our arrival. The campsite is very large and private, and the compost potty is a very neat idea! We got rained out unfortunately, but it was overall a very great experience and I would recommend it to anyone! Bishop the big goofy lovey dog was a wonderful surprise as well!!!

Possum tail farm camp was awesome. Jennifer and her family are very nice and welcoming. We really enjoyed getting involved on the farm tour, learning about possum tail farm and the surrounding land, and hanging out with huck around the fire as he made his rounds. The farm fresh meal was delicious and the shower was a huge plus

Very pleasant experience overall! Definitely recommend participating in the farm work experience, we got to be up close with the cows to move their fences and feed them. The weather was relatively rainy but we still had a wonderful time, there are wildflowers all over with hummingbirds and all kinds of wildlife to admire. There is a beautiful country road leading in to the farm, and it is very quiet, too. Close to some great parks for day trips (Swallow Falls).

A pleasant site. Jennie greeted us upon our arrival and immediately made us feel welcome to the space. Although the actual site is fairly close to the house and farm, we never felt as if we were being intrusive or lacked privacy ourselves.

Beautiful drive and landscape. The hosts were helpful. There are 2 site very close together so I would check to see if a site is booked with big group. I was not prepared for that

We had a wonderful time at Pond Place. Directions were clear, communication quick and the welcome was friendly but not intrusive. We were left to our own devices with just the right amount of contact with our hosts. Our pitch was freshly mown and the facilities (shower and loo) were excellent; clean, novel and environmentally friendly. We would highly recommend and would stay again! Thank you pond place!

We had an amazing time at Possum Tail Farm! It was absolutely beautiful, private, solid amenities and really helpful hosts. There is even a super nice farm dog to hang out with. He was a great perk. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants a peaceful time away on a beautiful piece of land.

Jennifer and Brian were excellent hosts! They made sure we had a way to contact them if we needed anything, and were very responsive. They only stopped by twice in the evenings just to be sure we didn't need anything like firewood (which I appreciate!) . The farm allows you to feel secluded and enjoy the beautiful views on their farm. I recommend this place to anyone looking to get away from the city and enjoy the silence of the farm. Only downside is the 2 mile stretch of gravel road to get to the farm, but that's just WVA!

Jennie and Brian's camp sites at Possum Tail Farm's is truly wonderful. Nestled in the rural West Virginia, their farm let us escape from the hustle and bustle of the metropolitan areas. They offered a great farm-to-table meal that we enjoyed on our first night there. The facilities they offer (running water, bathroom, and hot shower) are all clean, and well taken care of. We helped ourself to a tour of their farm and we were promptly greeted by all their farm animals, including their cows. All of their animals are super friendly, especially their cats, Chevre and Asiago, as well as their new farm dog, Bishop. We are so grateful that Jennie and Brian shared their farm with us for a few nights!

Jennifer's property is beautiful! A blessing from God. Our stay was so peaceful. The campsite is just lovely, and well kept.. Apparently it can get extremely cold at night, but if you pack accordingly you should be fine. We loved everything about our stay and definitely will be returning!

Absolutely beautiful organic farm in a secluded pocket of wilderness. The site / view were great . Would recommend to anyone who wants a peaceful night under the stars off the beaten path. A delicious hot /breakfast the next morning was a great perk as well !

Jennifer’s farm was great! We were there with a group of 10, on a yoga retreat. The space was beautiful, the cows are so funny! We also did a farm to table breakfast the last morning and it was super yummy. The main house was closer to the campsites than expected, but we did not feel our privacy was affected in any way. Also, the toilet/shower situation was awesome and super convenient.

This was our first time using HipCamp and it was great. We loved our campsite at Possum Tail! The spot was beautiful, and was well equipped with a fire grate, picnic table, toilet area, and an outdoor shower (such a nice touch!). Jennifer & Brian were great hosts and very kind— and super accommodating when we arrived in the pouring rain! Our dog also loved it!

A quiet and peaceful spot. We booked the site adjacent to the pond. The site was spacious and equipped with a picnic table, a trash can, and a fire ring. The privy with a composting toilet was a short distance away, as was the shower and the water spigot. The other campsite is closer to the main house but it was not occupied during our stay so we didn’t see or hear anyone else. We found everything as described and we would gladly camp here again in the future. I should mention that I was traveling by motorcycle and it is necessary to travel almost 2 miles on a gravel road to reach the property. It was definitely manageable but useful to know if you are traveling on two wheels.

Pond Place at Possum Tail Farm is beautiful! Jennifer and her family were very kind and welcoming to us. Great amenities (composting toilet, solar shower, fire pit and picnic table). You’re just across a little creek from the neighboring site but still have plenty of space and privacy. Just a short drive to great hiking (Blackwater Falls, Cathedral and Coopers Rock state parks in WV and Swallow Falls/Herrington Manor in MD). Awesome view of the sunset and can hear the bullfrogs and peepers singing at night, wake up to the sound of cows and birds! I was able to make it fine in a small, low profile car with front wheel drive but some of the roads on the way there are unfinished or gravel so keep that in mind!

We would highly recommend staying at Possum Farm camp. The view from the site is incredible. The site was very well maintained and offered great amenities. We would highly recommend the farm to table meal. Thank you so much for an awesome stay!

The property is beautiful and Jennifer and her family were lovely hosts. The ground is level and there was easy access to the composting toilet, a picnic table, and the firepit. We purchased dinner when we booked and the home cooked meal was delicious and substantial.

Staying here was incredible! We felt like we had plenty of our own space, but also had Jennifer and family close by if we needed anything. The composting toilet was convenient, and having a hot shower in the morning was amazing. The land itself is beautiful, and waking up to a view of the farm was something we enjoyed. Though we didn't opt for a tour of the farm, we really wish we would have, and will do so next time! Jennifer and her family were great hosts, attentive to anything we might need to make our stay better. 10/10 would recommend!

This campground is so thoughtful. It's tucked away in some trees so you're out of the wind but you can still see the big beautiful sky. There's a picnic table and trashcan, water and a composting toilet. We were there for only a night, but would definitely come back. It's near to beautiful parks like Swallow Falls.
