With incredible views of the Dwyryd estuary and Portmeirion, this wild camping site with horse box glamping in Snowdonia is a unique space, which can be booked for exclusive use. An ideal location for exploring all that Snowdonia has to offer. Close to beautiful beaches and mountains. Or just stay put and enjoy the view! Ideal for individuals or small to medium size groups. The horse box sleeps 2 on a high bed above the cab and has a kitchenette/dining space. There are 4 camp areas, one is quite large and could accommodate several tents. Facilities are basic but there is a compost toilet and a tap. 80% cleaning fee refund if accommodation is left clean and ready for next guests This is a simple and unspoilt site that offers a tranquil setting, with sounds of nature and amazing views. There are many beautiful beaches and lakes close by, castles, steam trains, mountains, historic buildings and pilgrim churches, water sports, national cycle route and the coastal path. Within 20 minutes by car, bus or train are Harlech, Porthmadog, Tremadog and Blaenau Ffestiniog (zip world). Snowdon walk is half an hour’s drive away. Plenty to do! For local services, 2 miles away in different directions are two villages. Talsarnau has a pub and Penrhyndeudraeth has 2 small supermarkets, post office, several cafes, restaurants and takeaways, 2 pubs and a petrol station. Porthmadog is a few minutes further by car, bus or train and has extensive services and facilities. The property is accessed via a steep narrow lane, with passing places, about 1/2 mile from the A496 road. By public transport, there is a train station and a bus stop in Llandecwyn on the main road. National cycle route 8 passes our property gate. Llyn Tecwyn lake is a few minutes walk up the lane, with Llandecwyn church above that. A little further away are more lakes and reservoirs, the Rhinog mountains with Bryn Cader Faner and a temperate rain forest Coed Felinrhyd. All are lovely hikes from our property.

The horse box is located in a secluded position on a flat grassy space, with a beautiful view across the estuary, towards Portmeirion and out to sea. It is situated in a large private field that is exclusively for you and any guests you have staying with you. Accommodation comprises of a kitchen dining space, with steps up to a double bed above the cab. (Horse transport space to be converted into accommodation next year). Bedding is provided for the double bed. For an additional charge, camping guests can stay nearby in their own tents or vehicles. There is a compost toilet close by and a tap. The accommodation has USB solar power outlets in the horse box for charging phones and other low power items. There are no mains hook ups. Guests will need to take waste with them and leave the site and horse box tidy. Wheel chair access for camping area, but not for the horse box as there are steps.

This is an amazing campsite! I would highly recommend it. The place is really peaceful and beautiful, with a very friendly vibe. Great for couples and small families, or single travellers. The site has incredible views of the estuary, the sea, the lleyn peninsula in the distance and portmeirion in the foreground. I loved camping here, and using the fire pit. Lizzie is an excellent host, and on hand if you have any queries. The facilities are all close by: ample parking, a compostible toilet that is v clean, running water tap close at hand. There is even a cat who comes to say hi! It is ten minutes walk down to Llandecwyn train station, so you can even arrive by train, as long as you can manage the walk up the hill with equipment. You could use the campsite as a base to take trains along the Cambrian coast up to Porthmadog and Pwllheli and down to Harlech, Barmouth and even Machynlleth. From the campsite there are beautiful walks up into the hills, and Bryn Cader Faner is about 1hr and a half walk away. I very much enjoyed just being on the campsite, and definitely intend to return.

Lizzie’s Barn glamping near Harlech
Loved staying at Lizzie’s horsebox! The horsebox is situated on a beautiful, peaceful patch of land with lovely views. I had everything I needed for a base to explore the area and kick back and relax in the evening. Lovely stay, with comfortable bed too, will be back!
