Our hilltop setting affords far-reaching valley views and access to fabulous walks along Offa's Dyke from the doorstep. This is a perfect spot for nature lovers, star gazers and those wanting peace. The North Wales countryside and coastlines are waiting to be explored - think castles and beaches. Snowdonia and Liverpool can be reached in under an hour so why not add city sights and adrenaline fuelled mountain adventures to your holiday activity list, then return to laze in a hammock, picnic under the apple trees, and enjoy evenings around the fire-pit.

Shepherd's hut · Sleeps 2

Immediately alongside your shepherd's hut you will find a fire pit and bistro table and chairs for outside dining and long evenings around the fire. There is also a private composting toilet. The wider grounds provide other areas for relaxation - the buddha bench is a lovely spot in the evenings, or picnic in the apple orchard. The grounds of 1 acre are a mix of field, fruit trees and veg beds with free ranging chickens, and shared with a small number of other guests. A private shower room is situated just a short walk (under a minute) from the hut. You can purchase logs, jam and eggs from the honesty shop in a 17th Century bakehouse, use our telescope to do some star gazing or simply relax.

Finch is a vintage (1880's) Gypsy Bow-top Wagon set in the corner of our field garden, neighbouring our Shepherd's Hut. Both units have space for privacy but can work as a combined booking. Finch is old and feels fragile compared to a modern caravan, but provides a unique and incredibly memorable stay under canvas. This is a camping experience so you need to bring your own bedding and cooking equipment just as you would when camping, although we do hire bedding/towel packs as an option.A new field shelter for 2023 provides additional space for Finch guests to prepare food (cool-box provided), and the fire-pit has a grill or why not try out the tri-pod for cooking your meals.

With gorgeous valley and hilltop views, and a private garden area, Gwenoldy is a fabulous base for exploring North Wales. The cottage has everything you need for a comfortable self-catering holiday. Fully equipped kitchen, log burner and smart TV in the sitting room, desk and Wi-Fi should you need a work station, laundry facilities and free parking for 1 car. The garden has patio with garden furniture, fire pit and BBQ, and lovely glimpses over the Clwydian range.

A really beautiful place to stay in a quiet calm location. Nicola is an attentive host and very nice, friendly and welcoming. Everything was clean and tidy. A wonderful stay.
