This is the best campsite we've ever stayed on in nearly 20 years of camping. The campsite achieves the perfect balance of space, privacy, a beautiful setting, an adventure for your children, wonderful hosts and an environment for parents/adults to relax in.
Obviously having great weather helped but we wouldn't hesitate to book our holiday here again. The campsite is located close to a number of stunning, uncrowded beaches but also beautiful country & forest walks.
The breakfast on Monday morning was delicious and the pizzas in the evening were brilliant (I'd love to know the tomato sauce recipe). A great way to meet fellow campers on the site.
There's so much here for children to learn which is such an important part of a holiday - from feeding the animals in the morning to all the interesting pieces of nature information dotted around the site and from talking to the hosts.
It was one of those holidays you come away from feeling relaxed and refreshed but also inspired and full of ideas.

From the moment we arrive in mid July for our week's stay in a family tent, we felt welcomed, safe and at ease. The plot we had was massive and with the space between plots we certainly did not feel crowded (which is something we have often felt in other sites) but we also didn't feel uncomfortably isolated. The community activities, which were not compulsory, were delightful, educational and somehow managed to involve everyone from ages 4 to 104. The facilities are clean and very well looked after - you can tell the people who own the facility care a lot about it and their guests. There are power sockets in public places so you can charge your phone and there's hot water available for you to wash your dishes.
While some of the extra activities can feel a bit expensive, you know the owners are not in this for huge profits. For example, they have ten available pitches but the location consists of more than than. The reason only ten are available is that the owners allow pitches to recover before moving other people in.
It really was a lot of fun and we would love to go back next year!
Location-wise, you're in a very green part of the country, surrounded by trees and fields. At night you will hear animals going about their nocturnal business. There are clean toilets and showers. Toilets consists of compost toilets and regular porcelain toilets :)
You're approximately 20 - 30 minutes from the nearest sandy beach and some 15 - 20 minutes from Aberaeron where you can buy gifts, groceries, fish & chips etc.
The beaches we went to this year were New Quay (Nice beach and shops and not too commercialised - not as bad as Tenby for example), Penbryn (so serene and beautiful it was like an otherworldly paradise), Llangrannog (watch the parking rules) and Mwnt (beautiful cove). Depending on the time of year, you may want to watch out for jellyfish and you may want to make sure you and your little ones wear water shoes in case anyone steps on a Weever Fish.

I almost don't want to leave a good review to make sure this incredible little site isn't booked up next time we want to go.
A fantastic, well appointed and welcoming place where children roam free and parents enjoy sitting in their private pitch surrounded by wild flowers and butterflies.
The owners are amazing and could not be more helpful, the campfire singsongs were a huge hit with the kids and a real ice breaker for them to make new fast friends for the duration of the stay.
The pizza night was incredible with some of the nicest traditional pizzas we've had in the UK. I heard great things about the fine dining and cooked breakfast too
I could not recommend this place enough, it's a little perfect hideaway surrounded by the most beautiful landscape, beaches and towns Wales has to offer.
You will not go wrong if you book.

Alison and Gyles truly love their space and show you how to get the most out of the joy and tranquility of your holiday. Unobtrusively Covid safe. Lots of fun and laughter. Perfect location for days out to New Quay, Llangrannog and Aberaeron. Definitely sign up for breakfast and pizza and Gyles' culinary delights! Thank you for an amazing time!!

Such a lovely welcoming place - we stayed in one of the lodges which was great and very comfortable. The camping pitches also looked well thought out and well placed, and we’d love to stay in the Shepherd’s hut in the future!
Our kids (10 and 8) loved the freedom - making friends, picking blackberries, playing in the woods and stream. They enjoyed the bushcraft morning and pizzas one evening too.
We had pretty good weather so were on the beach (Llangrannog) a lot. On a wet day we went to Aberystwyth and explored the castle and went on the cliff railway. Would also recommend watching the Red Kite feeding at Bwlch Nant yr Arian.

We would highly recommend this campsite and enjoyed our stay so much. The grounds are beautiful, yet very natural and there is plenty of space to spread out and relax. There is also a lot of charming character in the way the site and amenities have been designed. Thank you for a lovely holiday.

We (all 12 of us, plus dog) absolutely LOVED our week here. There is such a laid back vibe and Gyles and Alison make everything so easy and accessible. The children loved the hill fort, the tyre swing, the pizzas, the cooked breakfasts, bush craft, the campfire and the sing song, feeding the animals....and the open space and freedom to run around and be kids. The adults loved sitting around the campfire (every pitch has its own) with a glass of wine in the evenings. Everything is thought of and little creative touches are everywhere. I would highly recommend Alison's reflexology sessions too - wonderfully relaxing.
There are great beaches nearby and we spent lots of time there. It is a really beautiful part of the world and Naturesbase is the perfect place to explore it from.

Had a lovely week - thank you Gyles and Alison - at Naturesbase. Gorgeous pitches in amongst trees and long grass, plus very tastefully done facilities and a host of family oriented activities on site, made for a great combination. The area around Ceredigion is stunning and this is the perfect base to explore the beaches and countryside from, then come back to a cosy campfire next to your tent. Will be back!

We, two families including 4 children, had a fantastic week at Naturesbase. From the very warm welcome, to the hearty breakfast and amazing pizzas, to the idilic site, everything was perfect. Gyles and Alison were impeccable hosts throughout and nothing was too much trouble.
Highly recommended for camping in Wales with young children.

We (two families) stayed for a week at the Copse Lodge of Naturesbase. We had an excellent time. The lodge was in immaculate condition and we enjoyed a good few glasses of wine while watching the kids play on the hill fort. The camp as a whole is kid friendly (nature trail aka ninja run, campfire, breakfast area, sheep pen etc) meaning that we always had something to do. Finally, the customer service offered by Giles and Alison gave our holiday a very personal feel.

We stayed in July for the best part of a week and had a great time. The hosts were brilliant and the pizza to die for. It helped that our weather was incredible and it was a great spot to explore the nearby beaches. Pitches were large, well spaced and private enough. Facilities were great too. The communal fire was my husbands idea of hell but it was great fun, even he enjoyed it. And my kids are still singing the bird song! As a family we always rate these places and our only gripe was the lack of a view. Certainly not the site's fault. We hadn't realised it mattered to us until we got there. We definitely would return. But we might check the forecast first......

Found this campsite on Cool Camping for kids.
Pros -
* Great hosts, pizza night, communal campfire and sing song, cooked breakfast on a Monday.
* Gyles & Alison are really helpful with info around the local area.
* Great for kids - dens by the stream, campfire, rope swing, morning feeding the animals.
* Camp shop stocking basics and cakes.
* Toilets clean, showers warm.
* Loved that you got a pitch to yourself (Cutout of the grass), did not feel that the campsite was over crowded.
Cons -
* Hot water in the loos was really hot.
* Can't think of anything else as we really rate this campsite.

I booked Naturesbase back in January with the view of staying there in July/August. Originally when booking I done so thinking it would be our 'main' holiday of the year. For that reason I wanted a decent campsite and boy we chose the right one.
Initially I was wondering what to expect as I had seen the website and the photos looked great. Well the site is even better than I could have imagined and the photos on the internet don't do it justice.
The site is relaxing and as I said in title, very family friendly. There is everything here that you could possibly need from a campsite (if you don't mind no electric hookups). The fridge freezer was really helpful and a welcome addition to the site.
Gyles was telling me that he used to be a regular camper himself and you can tell with the site as he has thought of everything.
The games area for kids in the barn kept my son amused for a good couple of hours while it was raining. The toilets, showers and washing up areas were all clean and not once did I need to cue for anything.
My 2 year old son absolutely loved seeing Giles each morning, feeding the animals and doing the chicken on the head. He also loved the campfire and a week later was still singing the songs from it.
The site is the best I have ever stayed at. It is perfectly located for exploring Ceredigion. Only 5 minute drive to Aberaeron and 20- 30 min drive to New Quay.
I look forward to staying at Naturesbase next year.

I say perfect family holiday as this year it was our third time staying at natures base for our family summer holiday. It was perfect year 1, so we returned. We stayed in one of the the lodges, which gave us a holiday with a difference. We love to sit outside listening to nature, sipping wine and feeling at ease with our 9 year old daughter running free and playing with all the other kids on site, knowing all is safe. So nice to see kids making up games and enjoying all the site has to offer. Particular highlights of natures base; feeding the animals each morning, pizza night, campfire songs, roasting marshmallows, reflexology and total relaxation. Lots of beautiful beaches nearby and plenty places to visit, bringing a new experience each time we have been. Strongly recommend this to anyone, a place we will certainly return to time and time again.

This summer we enjoyed a fantastic week at one of the lodges at Naturesbase, which my husband described as probably the most relaxing family holiday we've ever had. By the end of the week, the adults were relaxed and full of wine (and I had read four books!), while the children were semi-feral, covered in insect bites, bramble scratches and grass seeds, and living mostly off dry cereal and marshmallows: in other words, they couldn't be happier.
The lodges had everything we needed for a comfy stay, including an open air cooking and dining area, all the basics we could require including tea and real coffee, and a lovely open deck; and when the thunderstorms finally hit on the Friday night, it was rather pleasant to experience them from the depths of a feather duvet.
The site is fabulous for kids and they mostly roamed free, making friends with the other campers, swinging on the tyre swing, worrying the sheep and fishing with nets in the river. Naturesbase puts on some activities including pizza night, campfire singing and a bushcraft morning which my 7 yo described as the highlight of his holiday; and every morning the children can go and help feed the animals and collect the eggs.
Off the farm, we crabbed, cycled, swam in the sea, spotted dolphins, and enjoyed some excellent meals out; there is loads to do in the local area and we could easily have stayed another week if it weren't for the danger that the children would go full wolf.
We loved our time at Naturesbase and heartily recommend it for anyone looking for a relaxing off-grid family holiday.

We stayed at Naturesbase for a week in the middle of August, 2 adults, 2 children aged 5 and 7 and the dog! When we arrived Giles came to greet us, show us around and gave us the choice of a couple of pitches. I was immediately impressed with the site layout, facilities and the pitches. Each pitch is almost private due to the mown areas and small meadows in between. The kids made friends immediately with other children on the site and due to the remote location and layout, we were happy to let them run and explore and to play with their new found friends and have some freedom! Over the course of the week we had ups and downs with the weather but this did not detract from our stay, the play barn is great for the kids if they get tentaphobia in the rain and the cafe area had loads of board games etc they could play with although these were seldom used due to playing outside in all weathers! We enjoyed the Pizza night and campfire and the Bushcraft morning was also a favourite. The kids were itching to get out the tent each morning, waiting in anticipation of Giles ringing the bell to then throw their wellies on and bound down the field to meet him by the pigs. Collecting eggs, feeding chickens and balancing chickens on their heads were enjoyed greatly each day! The location is ideal for visits to the seaside or countryside walks and there are a number of attractions less than an hour away by car. One point to note if you have a large dog, some of the local walks, including the one to the walled garden, have a number of stiles which are the over wall type rather than through the wall with no alternative but to lift your dog over them, not easy with a 38kg muddy Labrador!
We thoroughly enjoyed our week, the layout and feel of the site encourages everyone staying at the site to become friends, adults and children alike, sharing campfires each evening for toasting marshmallows with one large last communal one on the Friday being testament to that. Thanks to Alison, Giles, Lilly and Hugo for a great week, we will definitely be back!

We're big fans of Naturesbase and this year we returned for our fourth visit since 2011. Gyles and Alison have carved out a delightful corner of Wales and have infused it with magic. There's always a warm and friendly welcome, great breakfasts, the glory of pizza night, morning feeds with the cheeky chickens and the handsome pigs, and you'll never quite get to know your family as well as when you sit around your own campfire under a canopy of stars (and, quite often, watch the International Space Station arc across that night sky). For us this is a special place, and we can never talk about it without longing to return. Favourite spots nearby are Llancrannog beach, the walks at Cors Caron, the secret garden and (as a respite on a very very hot day) a visit to the National Trust goldmine (nice and cool inside).

A great but all too short stay over the BH weekend, fitted in at the last minute by the very helpful owners.Perfect place to bring children. Our three night stay involved all the weather that Wales can offer at this time of year but the indoor facilities and covered play areas came into their own on a sodden Sunday morning. Have told lots of friends about this place since, and will look to return ourselves.

Gyles and Alison don't just manage this site - it's apparent that Naturesbase is a real labour of love, borne out of a passion for connecting people with the natural world and with each other. There are so many wonderfully thought through elements to Naturesbase - invitations for 'wild' play on the hilltop fort and in the woods, daily opportunities to feed and touch their farm animals, communal spaces for families to get to know one another.
We took full advantage of some of the 'treats' on offer - cooked breakfast on two mornings, pizzas from the wood-fired oven followed by songs round the campfire and a morning of bushcraft skills, including boiling dragon vomit. I even indulged in a Reflexology session with Alison in the on-site Reflexology room.
Within hours of arriving our kids (4 and 6) were happily running around with other children, making friends with Lilly and Hugo the dogs and eating blackberries. We really enjoyed having a secluded pitch in amongst the trees to enjoy an evening campfire. The on-site shop and access to a fridge made cooking easier and the toilet and washing facilities were so nice that one of the cats took up residency in the Women's toilet block! We did experience some of the wet stuff during our stay, but a sheltered play barn and an indoor lounge with family games and books ensured that even rainy days weren't a problem.
There is lots of information on site about local attractions. We would recommend the walk to the 'Secret Garden' which goes straight from the campsite. One day we borrowed the site's crabbing buckets and took the short drive to Aberaeron to catch some crabs. It's a gorgeous part of the world, although we've barely scratched the surface with exploring it. Hopefully we'll be back again to explore more in future!

We have been regular visitors to Naturesbase for many years. Quite frankly after our first visit we could not entertain anywhere else. The individual mown pitches, seperated by willow trees mean you are gauranteed privacy. And it is lovely to have your own campfire in the evenings. There is a pizza night and campfire singalong, led by an entertaining Gyles, once a week, which my boys love. They sing the songs all the way home when we sadly have to leave. My boys always make good friends each year, with the other childrean and there is a fantastic friendly atmosphere about the place. Each morning, when the bell rings, (not early) there is animal feeding and egg collecting, and if you want you can experience 'chicken on the head', if you possess a hoody! Great place and fun times, where memories are made!

This is by far the best holiday that we have experienced with the children. It is exactly what I expected and more. We stayed in one of the lodges and they are lovely, warm and welcoming. The site as a whole is amazing for children of all ages. The bushcraft and pizza nights made it really fun and special. The breakfast and homemade cakes are to die for too. Animal feeding every morning was a massive hit with all the children I think. Gyles and Alison really do put in a hundred percent in everything that they do. Such a lovely and welcoming couple. Myself, my husband and our children made lots of friends and we are all booking to go again next year. The children have the freedom they need to just play, get muddy and have lots of fun. We can’t wait to come to your beautiful site again x

Wow what a campsite. This is what I call camping. Beautiful, peaceful and family friendly. So much love and hard work has gone into this site and lovely little touches everywhere. The kids loved feeding the animals in the morning and playing with the train set when it rained. And even tho it was drizzling a lot we still had such a wonderful time. The sandy beaches are 30 mins away and they are stunning. Even have caves to explore and dolphin spotting.
I would highly recommend this campsite. It is amazing.

This site is the stuff that dreams are made of. Our holiday seemed straight out of a nostalgic childhood story; feeding the animals each morning with a happy tribe of children, singing by the campfire, toasting marshmallows and exploring the beautiful woods and beaches. Naturesbase feels handmade and carefully tended. The pitches are well cared for but private; secluded by trees and long grass, perfect for warming our toes by the campfire, or watching our two year old son run through the long grass laughing. The toilets and showers are clean and homely, totally in keeping with the whole atmosphere of the place. We found the communal areas so welcoming and useful; the sitting area with books and stories, the barn where breakfast was served some mornings and the courtyard with brightly painted picnic benches for scoffing sandwiches or just hanging out. Each time I thought I’d explored the whole site, I found that Naturesbase had more to offer: A miniature Hill fort, the play barn with toys and a sandpit, and the wilderness, left to grow for the curious to explore. Alison and Giles are the most welcoming hosts and we felt relaxed and well cared for. Naturesbase is a haven; the perfect place from which to adventure out into this beautiful part of Wales (and the ideal spot to return to for rest and relaxation afterwards!).

We camped at Naturesbase with our 4 children (age 13, 11, 9 & 5) for the first week of the summer holidays. From the moment we arrived we knew this was a very special place. Flat, grassy pitches with plenty of privacy and a fire pit, great communal spaces to eat, play, read and meet people, spotless facilities - and that was before we explored the grounds. Acres of woodland, fields, a stream to paddle in, even a hill fort for the kids to rampage in. Our kids loved feeding the pigs & chickens in the mornings, and the songs around the campfire (after helping make pizza in the wood fired oven) were another big hit. With stunning beaches a short drive away, beautiful countryside all around and the warmest welcome from Gyles & Alison, we honestly couldn’t have asked for anything more. We will definitely be back - and can’t recommend this place highly enough (although part of me wants to keep it secret so booking doesn’t get too difficult!).

We stayed at Naturesbase for a week at the beginning of August. My wife and I were a little unsure about how camping would pan out as we have two young children (3 and 1), and we thought that the typically mixed forecast might make things just a bit too much like hard work. We needn't have worried! From the play barn and the indoor lounge, to the hill fort and the campfire, Gyles and Alison have crafted a campsite which allowed both kids and adults to have an amazing time. The kids didn't miss a morning of the animal feeding, by 8:30am they were waiting in anticipation for the bell and the Pizza/campfire night will live long in the memory. We all made friends whilst on the campsite meaning we actually did some day trips with families we met at the site; a consequence of the close knit community which developed at Naturesbase whilst we stayed there. All in all a very special place to camp.

Can't stress how great this place is. The campsite is excellent, personal, friendly and in a great location. My children enjoyed making friends with others, playing freely, pizza night and more importantly toasting marshmallows around the campfire. We stayed in one of the lodges which surpassed all of our expectations in terms of comfort and quality. The lodges represent great value for money although we did also like the look of the "glamping" options for when we book again next year! We certainly will return as this is a very charming special place.

We've just got back from a week staying at Naturesbase in Copse Lodge ... two families with 5 kids between us. We needed plenty of space and that's what we got ... large double bedrooms for adults, comfy mattresses and fluffy duvets. The kids were really happy with bunk rooms and lots of play space! There were 3 bathrooms so no queuing for showers which was brilliant after a day at the beach. The living area was huge with a large table and generous lounge area... perfect for families sharing to be able to spread out. The outside kitchen and veranda were well kitted out and another dining space available for warmer days. Complimentary red and white wine were a thoughtful (and much appreciated) touch and the kids loved finding chocolates on their pillows!
We all warmed to Alison and Gyles immediately... they are so generous with their time to make sure you are having a wonderful holiday! Our children were desperate to get out and feed the Animals with Gyles each morning and Alison's cakes were delicious!
The communal spaces were well used by our families... a play barn for the children and a hill fort! We also enjoyed Pizza night, Gyle's campfire and cooked breakfast in the barn on two mornings.
Locally the beaches are beautiful ... our favourite was Penbryn (a walk down the hill to beach and toilets at the top, so not for everyone!) perfect for a BBQ and some bodyboarding. Also good are llangranog and Newquay. We enjoyed fish and chips in Newquay while watching dolphins one evening which was wonderful.
Really can't rate Naturesbase highly enough! We have been previously and camped and returned to the lodge... I'm sure we'll be back again!

In leaving a less than 5-star review, I have to be scrupulously fair with the context. Probably the most important point is that our family of 5 arrived here from an absolutely blissful week in Pembrokeshire spent at just about the most relaxed and least commercialised campsite imaginable. That Naturesbase felt relatively uptight and commercialised by comparison is really more about the comparison than the fact. The introductory tour featuring prominent guidance on all the places that adult supervision would be required didn't help, but again the reality was rather more relaxed than that initial impression created. The second point is that our two older children (10 and 13) were possibly just outside the target age-range. Our 6-year old certainly loved the many playthings provided and, particularly, the interaction with the many other children of a similar age and happily roamed around in the extended "pack". The older two pined for the wilder nature of the previous site. Finally, a rather stressful departure day was undoubtedly our fault, having seriously miscalculated packing up time. Despite starting the evening before and starting again early on the day and hardly shirking until the last peg-bag popped back into the trailer, we were still 2 hours past the requested departure time. I do understand the problems that can cause with new arrivals due, but the rather chilly atmosphere when we took our leave was an unfortunate end to our stay - howsoever self-inflicted.
So that's the less-than-good. There is so much that was good though. Pizza evening and the singalong by the communal campfire afterwards were wonderful. A lot of thought, attention and hard-work has clearly gone into the facilities which were impeccably clean and well-maintained throughout (an out-of-order compost toilet excepted). There were cosy and welcoming wet-weather refuges and plenty of well-considered and cheerfully delivered advice available on what to see in the local area. Five stars for all of that. For families with younger children, I would have no reservation in recommending this as a well-judged balance of nature and amenity, it just wasn't quite for us as it turned out.

Naturesbase is brilliant. Gyles and Alison have created a fun, relaxing and interesting place where parents can relax and kids can explore, whether it be in the grass fort, feeding the animals and getting a chicken on the head, Gyles' bushcraft morning or playing in the barn. The site has a warm and friendly feel about it, this is down to Alison and Gyles and their relaxed approach to having people in their back garden and it is ideally located to visit the local beaches, Llangrannog being a cracking spot for bodyboarding and then a decent pint afterwards. There are plenty of other places to explore within a few minutes drive, gold mines, Red Kite feeding centre and other national trust sites. Evenings on the site were either spent by a camp fire or in the barn depending on the weather. Pizza night is a must, followed by a sing song and marshmallows around the communal campfire; the "rattlin bog" should not be missed! Also, on a clear evening the night sky is incredible, the milky way is just visible and numerous "shooting stars" can be seen. We enjoyed our stay and our two boys had a blast. We will definitely be back.

When we booked Naturesbase we had high hopes, based on the reviews on Cool Camping and the photos we had excitedly studied in the run up to our holiday. All our hopes were surpassed. This is a fabulous place for a family to get away to.
Gyles and Alison are a wonderful couple, welcoming and friendly, and at Naturesbase they have created somewhere that reflects those aspects of themselves. At Naturesbase we didn't just feel like we were holidaying, we felt like we were part of the place.
Having sacrificed our tent to the elements at the 'Just So Festival' two summers ago, we stayed in one of the lodges. They're fantastically comfortable, we spent most of our time just sitting outside in the kitchen/ dining area watching the light gradually dim.The hand built bunk beds were a joy for our little girl, so much so that even the bell ringing to go and feed the farmyard animals didn't manage to rouse her on one or two occasions!
We would recommend taking up everything on offer at Naturesbase. The pizza night had a fabulous atmosphere, and the campfire songs afterwards were great fun and kept us entertained not only that night but on the journey home. Poor little bird...
My wife had a session of reflexology with Alison and took quite a while to come down from Cloud 9. My personal favourite, however, had to be the family bushcraft. My fire building skills were never up to much before this holiday, yet since we've been back every weekend has involved a back garden camp fire and toasted marshmallows. Definitely a holiday that will stay with you for a long time, and we can't wait to go back.
