Welcome to Cae Mabon – The Welsh Shangri-La Step into a hidden sanctuary nestled in ancient oak woods, where the river sings, the fire whispers stories, and the land holds a timeless magic. This is your rare chance to stay at Cae Mabon without joining a retreat. Come as you are—solo, as a couple, or with kindred spirits—and dwell in one of our hand-crafted sanctuaries: the Hogan, the Lodge, the Cob Cottage, or the Hobbit Hut. Each is unique, soulful, and rooted in natural design. You'll also have access to shared spaces: the woodland kitchen, the roundhouse dining room, hot showers, and earth-friendly compost loos. The wood-fired riverside hot tub—pure elemental bliss—is available as an extra. At the heart of it all is our thatched Celtic Roundhouse, a sacred space for song, story, ceremony, or simply being. It's a place to gather around the fire, breathe deep, and drop into something ancient and real. Cae Mabon is cradled between forest, mountain and lake. A short walk brings you to Llyn Padarn’s beach and the vibrant village of Llanberis. Further afield, wander the wild beauty of Snowdonia, explore mystical stone circles and burial chambers, or chase waves along the coastlines of Anglesey and the Llyn Peninsula. This land calls to the seeker, the dreamer, the adventurer. And if you’re lucky, you might catch Eric, Cae Mabon’s storyteller and keeper of lore, by the fire—spinning folk tales and singing songs that stir the soul. Come for stillness. Come for wildness. Come home to the magic.

Stay in the Fairytale Cob Cottage at Cae Mabon Tucked into the lush woodland of Cae Mabon, our handcrafted Cob Cottage is a truly magical place to stay. Built with natural materials—earth, straw, and love—it feels like something out of a storybook. With its rounded walls, living roof, and whimsical design, the cottage blends seamlessly into the landscape. Inside, it’s cozy, earthy, and full of charm. The Cob Cottage is located in the heart of the retreat space, just above our Celtic Roundhouse. It is perfect for couples, solo travellers, or small families seeking a unique and soulful escape into nature. Step outside to birdsong, ancient trees, and winding paths through a landscape alive with spirit. Guests often say the Cob Cottage feels like a return to something deeper—simple, grounding, and beautiful.

The Hobbit Hut – A Shire-Inspired Hideaway When enough visitors told us Cae Mabon felt like the Shire, we took the hint — and built our very own Hobbit Hut. Tucked into the hillside with a living reciprocal framed roof and big round door just like Bilbo Baggins', this cosy, earthen dwelling is a tribute to simple joys and second breakfasts. Inside, you'll find a comfy double bed and a single, perfect for small adventuring parties. Just across from the stream, the soothing sound of flowing water will lull you to sleep, as moonlight spills through the trees and dreams drift in like mist from the mountains.

With five cozy beds in one room, The Hogan offers a magical retreat for dreamers, storytellers, and those seeking stillness beneath the trees.

The Lodge – A Cedar Sanctuary by the Stream Nestled beside a gently flowing stream and just opposite our iconic Celtic Roundhouse, The Lodge is a hand-crafted cedarwood haven designed for rest, connection, and deep nature immersion. Its stunning corbelled roof and lush turf living roof blend beautifully into the landscape, while inside, the scent of cedar and the curve of natural design create a peaceful, grounding space. Sleeping up to five guests in single beds (which can be rearranged to suit your group), The Lodge is ideal for friends, families, or retreat groups. Step outside to soak under the stars in the nearby wood-fired hot tub, surrounded by birdsong and the rustle of leaves. A truly magical off-grid experience awaits.
