Great weekend getaway!
My girlfriend and I really enjoyed the camping trip last weekend. The Host is very kind and checked in on us to ensure we had what we needed. The wood was stocked and the firepit was amazing. We cooked all the meals right on the coals. It was our first trip with our dog and he really loved running around in the tall grass.
It was a great atmosphere and no light pollution so you can see every star in the sky at night. It was very peaceful. Highly recommended, 10/10 would definitely go again. Thank you John! You're a wonderful host!

Beautiful place to Relax
Lovely visit starting with warm welcome from John. Lots of sites to choose from and good spots to launch kayaks. Some mosquitoes but that’s out of host’s control.

Amazing sunsets on Blackwater Creek
What a beautiful property! It's private, quiet, safe and well thought; they had bathroom with potable and non potable water, fire ring pit and oh my gosh - THE PIER!! It's so nice, the sun sets right in front of you! My son tried to fish, we did not really know how to do it, just kinda did it for the enjoyment so we didn't catch any. I asked John if ever caught one, if we were allowed to eat it 🤣 and he said yes. Very friendly.
I'd come back here with my friends since it's pretty close to us, we usually camp in Cape Charles but it's always so crowded.
Thank you so much for letting us stay in your property! My dog had a blast, she's never roam around freely in a place like that! I so much appreciate not having to put her on a leash!

Amazing sunsets on Blackwater Creek
This was our fist outing with our PUP camper after fixing it all up. The land is secluded and even with another camper on the site we didn’t see or hear anyone. Our site had a view of the sunset and sunrise over the water and John was incredibly hospitable. The water was perfect for canoeing and kayaking as well. Our family had a wonderful time!!!

My site was super easy to access and exactly what I needed for an overnight stay plus a paddle on the bay. Host was friendly and easygoing, site was nicely set up and well maintained. I was able to launch my kayak, paddle on sheltered water in a quiet cove in a nice natural area, and hose off my gear before hitting the road. The sunset was as advertised.

We had an absolute blast! John was really friendly and nice, there were lots of spots with firepits to pitch our tent, the property was beautiful and right on the water. Really comfortable and enjoyable, highly recommend.

Serene spot
Staying on John's property was wonderful. He is easy and prompt with communication and the property has everything we needed. We took our kayaks out from the dock and enjoyed paddling the easy waters of Blackwater Creek. We hope to return again soon.

Amazing sunsets on Blackwater Creek
Came here as a pit stop before Virginia Beach and it was awesome!! We we’re able to swim and fish off the dock, then see a beautiful sunset at night. The center of Mathew’s was only 12 min away which made getting food and groceries so much easier! I will definitely be back if we find ourselves driving through this area again!!

Very remote setting
Very private and a remote setting! I should have headed the warning about the mosquitoes, but I did not and they ate me alive! I also ended up in a nest of chiggers but that’s what’s waiting for you in the woods. Property is lovely.

Like Being on a Private Lake!
Beats any campground. Fantastic, private property with full access to the creek, which basically feels like you're on your own lake. Owner met us at entrance and was extremely friendly. He and his wife allow use of their aluminum canoe, which could seat 3-4 people. I would recommend you bring bug spray, mosquito candles/spray, and potentially your own firepit since our RV area did not have a firepit (confirm with owner). Many camping areas had their own firepit. We brought our kids' kayaks! Fun time! Beautiful sunsets over the water.

We had the best time tent camping on John’s land! We were lucky enough to have the whole place to ourselves so we could spread out and use a ton of space. There’s a dock on his property with a stunning sunset view, we’ll definitely be back!

Amazing sunsets on Blackwater Creek
Quiet place to relax.
There isn't much to do as far as hiking is concerned. The use of the dock was enjoyable and being able to kayak made it an adventure. The sunsets from the dock were beautiful and the start gazing was pure amazement for everyone. So, if your looking for somewhere to just relax and get away from civilization, I world highly recommend John T's land.
