Summerleigh Homestead is a historic property located on Deep Creek Valley, 10 minutes southeast of Romsey and an hour from the CBD of Melbourne. Deep Creek Valley is characterised by majestic views and steep rocky declines, carved over millennia by the permanently flowing Deep Creek, originating in the Great Dividing Range and eventually becoming the mighty Yarra River in Melbourne. Below the Homestead, in the valley, along the banks of Deep Creek, are four designated and generously sized camp sites, offering two types of camping. All only suitable for 4WD or SUV access. - Sambar : one larger caravan or two tents / rooftop vehicles site, located on Deep Creek (half-) island. A premier site. - Red : one larger caravan or two tents / rooftop vehicles, located next to Sambar. - Fallow : a one family tent site, or two small hiking tents. - Hog : one hiking tent camp with limited vehicle access.

Sambar camp is our premier site, located on the banks of Deep Creek, where it turns north before a sharp turn back south, creating a secluded and private half-island. Suitable for ONE 4WD caravan/camper trailer; or TWO AWD / 2WD vehicles with a smaller setups / RV / rooftop tent etc. 2WD access only during the dry season. . Some experienced manoeuvring will be required for towed campers. The neighbouring sites (Fallow and Red camp) are within walking distance. Available by separate booking.

Sambar camp
We stayed at Sambar camp, a quiet, secluded spot next to the creek. The stay was exactly as expected, owners were friendly and accommodating without being intrusive. Sites were all very well maintained. Quite a steep dirt road to exit the property, so would definitely recommend 4wd if you're towing a camper, or in the wet. Will be staying again!

Nice spot. The creek is very low in summer, and you cant swim at the camp site. The swimming hole is only a few mins walk away and is quite pleasant. Campsites are close together so not super private, but would be good for multiple families/groups camping together.

We enjoyed staying in chital camp. Very beautiful skies at night. Lucy and Jack are very accommodating and very easy to communicate with. The swimming hole is very refreshing as well just a small walk from the campsite. We will be back in the future 🏕️

We absolutely loved our stay here. The landscape is breathtaking. So peaceful. The watering hole was perfect for a morning and arvo dip. Super easy to get to from Melbourne. Highly recommend. Thank you for having us!

Lovely property with great hosts. Pretty steep track into the camp area but managed to get our 21 foot caravan in & out without any issues.

Had a good time at Fallow Camp! Such a nice piece of land, and big as well! Very serene and peaceful, you can hear the water flowing in the creek nearby. Perfect for a relaxing stay

Such a beautiful property. Fire pits at each site, a cute spot to swim and lots of places to put up a hammock. We had such a relaxing time.

Lovely, quiet spot so close to Melbourne. Amazing host with exceptional quality produce (biodynamic eggs and beef boxes) added to our camp meals perfectly. Heaps of available fire wood and cleared camping space with privacy- we’ll be back.

Great site. Friendly hosts with an amazing water hole nearby great for swimming. Perfect for cooling off in the heat. Sites were bigger than expected. Could have fit more on each site than we thought.

Sambar camp
A completely private site, immersed in the sounds of the running creek and abundant bird life. Plenty of flat land to set up camp and shady spots to sit by the creek. Our dog was warmly welcomed by the friendly farm dogs. Heaven for humans and dogs alike! The farm fresh meat and eggs provided by the hosts were delicious. Highly recommend for an escape from the city.

Whites Cottage Valley Views
We had a really great experience staying at Summerleigh Homestead as our first hipcamp stay. We stayed overnight in our caravan with our 2 dogs and enjoyed a really lovely walk down to the creek and a very peaceful and private site - set up in a paddock all to ourselves. The hosts were lovely and helped us manouver our caravan in and get settled. Thanks so much for having us, we'd definitely love to stay again!
