Amazing shared facilities!
Heath and Shannon’s campground exceeded our expectations. The shared kitchen, living room and bathrooms are recently renovated and kept extremely clean. It was very nice having a cool place to eat, relax, watch television or listen to music after a long hot day spent exploring this wonderful area of the country.
The wifi worked well. There are outlets to recharge your electronics. The kitchen even has a dishwasher and a microwave.
The tour of the farm and milking a goat were a fun experience.
Site #2 had a level space for a three person tent, was surrounded by trees and conveniently close to the shared facilities.
We appreciated Heath and Shannon’s warm hospitality.

Camping with Animals!
This is our second year camping there and we had such a great time! The facilities are really the best we’ve seen for a RV/campground and Heath and Shannon are such wonderful hosts.
Our kids had fun feeding the animals. We had an incredible time and we would love to stay there again next time we are passing through.

10 ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️ ‘S
10 stars, highlight of me and my partners long road trip. Being so far from home we felt so welcomed and loved upon entering the property. You guys and your critters were too good to us. Even though we arrived in the later hours of check in our hosts gave us a grand tour giving greetings to all of the animals on the property. The kitten area and bathrooms made our home away from home for the night way too cozy. I could’ve fallen fast asleep on the leather couch in the den instantly. Thank you Heath, Shannon, Mr T, Trigger, Music, and all of our new furry friend for welcoming us into your life’s and making us feel so safe❤️

Love this spot!
This is a great place to stay! Hosts are friendly and helpful. Campground is quiet, beautiful and sites nicely spaced apart. The bathrooms are the cleanest, most well supplied bathrooms we have ever seen and we camp a lot!! Loved interacting with the variety of animals on the property! You don’t want to miss this spot!

Camping with Creature Comforts
Our 4.5 year old loved all of the animals around and she even helped milk a goat. The community building is a luxury during a camping trip. It was spotless and full of amenities. They offer meats and cheeses for sale that come from the animals cared for at their farm. We tried crumbled goat cheese and it was delicious. We happened to have a water intrusion in our camper on the way through SD and it was so nice to be able to launder the bedding with the washer and dryer in the community building. It was also a treat to have a nice bathroom. The hosts were very kind, responsive and accommodating. This place is wonderful and I recommend it to any traveler looking for a peaceful place just off the beaten path.

Our 4 kids loved having 63 acres of mostly forested land to explore! They were perfectly content playing there with nothing else needed but nature. The farm animal tour was very fun and educational. We loved having a fridge, laundry, showers, and toilets in the shared house. It also gave us a place to go when it rained. Reminder, it is at a farm and animal noises (like roosters) start well before the sun comes up. :) We had a lovely 5 night stay and would recommend it! Staying during the week at end of August was great because it wasn't very busy so we had plenty of space! Thanks, Heath and Shannon!

Sweet Life on the Farm
A superb Hipcamp experience! The campsites are set in the woods, shaded and level, lots of birdlife to enjoy, and at #5 we had a view of the llamas and horses several times each day. The community building has spa-level showers and amenities, squeaky clean, fully equipped kitchen, TV room, game tables, and lending library, and great wifi. Heath and Shannon stock the fridge offering goat milk and flavored creamer, homemade goat cheese, fresh eggs, frozen lamb cuts, local jams. And what delightful folks they are - we watched the milking operation in the evening (could have had hands-on experience) and learned so much about their life on the farm, their love for their critters and their appreciation of the land.. Really fascinating. Recommend this camping experience without any hesitation. Just an excellent experience. And they recommended Horatio's for ice cream in Custer, on our way from Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse - don't miss that treat!

Amazing place to experience!
Even with a brief stay, I can say Heath and Shannon are two of the most impressive and inspiring humans I’ve ever had the pleasure to encounter. They have an incredible property and really put so much work and soul into their place. The animals and their stories are incredible. Can’t wait to visit them again 💚

Peace and Quiet beautiful area
We enjoyed our 6 day stay here in early August. While you can certainly escape the hustle and bustle in this quiet sanctuary, there are tons of things to do on your visit as well. The Black Hills offers so many beautifully scenic drives it’s hard to hit them all! Custer State and Black Hills/Badlands National parks are great day trips. The possibilities are plenty!
The property itself is a charming farm/camp with lots of animals. We were so busy we missed it but Heath and Shannon, the gracious hosts, do tours with them occasionally. There is an immaculately clean “bath house/kitchen” area with so many farm products (anything from meats and cheeses to eggs, jams, milk and creamers) to enhance your enjoyment. The spotless common area was a delightful surprise to us and we were happy to spend some time there enjoying a coffee and super fast WiFi. Our parking area was quite large, fairly level, partly shaded and very private. Pretty much a dream. 6 days was not long enough!

Straight to the favorites list!
A peaceful and beautiful property, and when you’re camping there, you can hardly tell that the owners of the farm are the busiest people in South Dakota. I have no idea how people with so much to do find the time to be hospitable, but Heath and Shannon absolutely do. We were welcomed and treated like friends. The campsites are great and not too close together. The available facilities are nice and clean. The farm goods available for sale are of the highest quality. Camp here whenever you’re in the area. We plan to. (And tell Mr. T we said hi!)

Wonderful experience
This was a wonderful location. The property was beautiful and the hosts were so welcoming. They provided access to kitchen , shower and bathroom facilities that were super clean and well equipped. The hosts gave us a tour of their evening chores introducing us to their animals and stories. They gave us a demonstration of goat milking and gave us the opportunity to try. We had four little kids with us that had a blast. Highly recommended!

Best Hipcamp Ever!!!
Best Hipcamp so far. We stayed for 5 nights. The moment we arrived, Heath gave us a tour of his property. We get to ride his ATV.
We met some of his animals. Our favorite is Mr. T (a Llama). He’s super friendly and loves to give Llama kisses. He’s the sweetest!
Later that evening, Shannon and Heath took us to their farm. We get to milk their goats. It was awesome. Kids loved it!
They even took our kids for another 2nd tour of their farm.
Their common kitchen, Living room and Bathrooms/Shower rooms are super clean! And they pretty much got everything! They sell fresh eggs, homemade butter and jams, some meats, soda’s and bottled water. I love their complementary coffee.
We totally 💯 recommend this Hipcamp to everyone..especially with kids. Heath and Shannon are the best 👍
Heath and Shannon, thank you so much for everything.

Eleven out of ten
It is remote and quiet. The hosts are very pleasant, welcoming and informative. They offer fresh eggs, goat milk and fresh- frozen lamb and beef to purchase. This is a wonderful place with a good vibe with gr8 amenities. if you don’t boondock and want to get off the tourist path, or if you need a respite from the heat, you will appreciate the lush white towels and good water pressure to remind you that it feels good to be clean!! This place is an eleven!!!

Great place! Camp areas were pretty, and they had a super nice bunkhouse (common area with bathrooms). We showered, did laundry, and bought fancy goat milk (from their goats!). Spent some time there on the wifi hiding from the heatwave (and torrential rain) a couple evenings, haha.

We had a great time here. Really enjoyed meeting the hosts and spending some time on their land and meeting their animals. The decent proximity to Rushmore was certainly nice, but to be honest, we had more fun at the campsite. We did a UTV tour in the morning and highly recommend that too!

We had a great stay here! Heath was super friendly and generous with his time and resources. The bath house is very nice and there is a full kitchen and tv lounge with lots of fun local food available for purchase. It was well beyond what we expected. Loved experiencing the farm and our kids loved the chance to milk a goat and taste the milk. Really cool operation.

Our favorite place in South Dakota
What a wonderful place to stay! Heath and his wonderful wife Shannon were amazing! The property was beautiful and the kitchen and bathrooms were top notch. We used this camp ground as a base camp as we explored Southern South Dakota. At night Heath and Shannon took us with them to the barn where we milked goats and loved on Mr. T. Farm to table eggs and milk were a delight all week. We travel a lot, and this is one of our favorite places we have ever stayed. Anytime we are even remotely close, we will take the opportunity to come back and visit this gem in the black hills.
