Escape to the Woods Tucked away amongst the trees at Bowie Wood, our spacious 6m bell tent is a secluded woodland retreat designed for slowing down, switching off and reconnecting with nature. Set on its own raised timber platform, the tent looks out into the woodland, with a covered awning creating a sheltered spot to sit outside with your morning coffee or simply listen to the forest around you. Inside, natural coir flooring, a king-size bed and the warmth of a wood-burning stove create a cosy retreat whatever the Scottish weather decides to do. This isn't a manicured campsite. You're staying within our woodland, surrounded by mature trees, mossy ground, ferns and wildlife. Red squirrels, roe deer, woodpeckers, buzzards and bats are all visitors to Bowie Wood, and after dark the woodland becomes wonderfully peaceful. Follow the woodchip path back to your tent, light the stove, make a hot chocolate and settle in for the evening. On clear nights, step outside and look up — away from the bright lights of town, the woodland is a beautiful place for stargazing. Although it feels hidden away, Bowie Wood is close to Stirling and makes a wonderful base for exploring central Scotland, from Stirling Castle and Bannockburn to the Ochil Hills, Loch Lomond and The Trossachs. Bowie Wood is an ongoing rewilding project, where we’re working to restore and enhance the woodland while allowing nature to flourish. You may notice areas of ongoing work around the wider site as we continue to improve habitats, paths and facilities. We aim to keep any disruption to guests to a minimum. Come here for the quiet, the trees and the chance to experience something a little different. Slow down. Light the fire. Sleep amongst the trees.Welcome to Bowie Wood 🌿 Welcome to our little corner of the woods. Bowie Wood is completely off-grid, so things work a little differently here. We hope you’ll slow down, switch off and enjoy being surrounded by nature. Your Bell Tent The bell tent, deck and covered awning are exclusively yours during your stay. Your private toilet and shower are located inside the main cabin, a short walk from the tent. These facilities are for your use only. Living Off-Grid ☀️💧 Everything at Bowie Wood is powered by nature. Electricity Our electricity is generated by solar panels and stored in batteries. Please switch off lights and electrical items when you're not using them and avoid unnecessary high-power use. Water Our water comes from a filtered rainwater-harvesting system. Please use water thoughtfully, particularly when showering. Wood-Burning Stove 🔥 The stove makes the tent wonderfully cosy, but please use it carefully. Only adults should light or refuel the stove. Burn only the fuel/firewood provided. Keep the stove door closed when in use. Never leave the stove unattended with the door open. Keep clothing, bedding and other items well away from the stove. Never place anything on or against the stove or flue. Do not use candles or any other naked flames inside the tent. Please familiarise yourself with the fire and carbon-monoxide safety equipment when you arrive. The Woodland 🌲 You're welcome to enjoy and explore Bowie Wood. Remember that this is natural woodland rather than a landscaped holiday park. Expect uneven ground, tree roots, rocks, mud, wildlife and changes in ground level. There is an unfenced cliff edge/steep drop near the entrance to Bowie Wood. Please keep well back from the edge and supervise children closely. Take particular care when walking through the woodland after dark or in wet, icy or windy weather. Wildlife 🦌 Bowie Wood is home to lots of wildlife. You may be lucky enough to see red squirrels, deer, bats and many woodland birds. Please enjoy them from a distance and don't feed or disturb wildlife. Before You Go Please: Make sure the stove is safe. Switch off lights and electrical items. Leave the tent and private bathroom tidy. Put rubbish in the designated bins. Let us know about any damage or problems — we'd much rather know so we can put things right. Most importantly, enjoy the woods, make yourself at home and have a wonderful stay. Slow down. Light the fire. Sleep amongst the trees.
