As it was my first experience with Hipcamp, I had no expectations and nothing to compare it to. And our arrival was very pleasant, the host greeted us with gourmet doughnuts, on National Donut Day, making us feel very welcome. But since then, we have had opportunity to stay at another Hipcamp facility, and the difference is night and day. The Secret Garden was a very cool urban camping experience, in a very cool neighborhood, don't get me wrong. However, our departure was very uncomfortable, because the beautiful, upscale fire pit area is very much a part of the host family's routine. We were rushing to break camp between rain showers, and the family had invited at least 2 other families over, and they had no consideration about our efforts to pack and leave. At one point, the children were messing around with our belongings, which made things awkward when we needed to gather them to take to our vehicle. Obviously, the family is entitled to use the amenities they installed, but we had initially broadcast our intentions to stay another night, and had we done so, we would have been crowded out of our own area by a seemingly tight knit group of people who weren't unfriendly, but not there to make the acquaintance of the transient renters. A very unfortunate end to our first hipcamp, as we were made to feel like Interlopers.

10/10. Dom was easy to connect with and gave me a great tour of the camp and awesome recommendations of the area. The site is super private yet right down the street from everything. I would definitely stay again!

The Secret Garden was a wonderful stay! The dome is equipped with many amenities, the camp space has great lighting, and you can choose to sleep gazing at the stars or completely shaded. Dominique and his family are very nice and there for any inquiries. Check this place out!

The Private Secret Garden
We LOVED the dome and our own little secret campground hidden off the side of Dom’s place. Our hosts were extremely friendly and helpful. When you set foot inside the secret garden, it feels like you’re deep in the woods somewhere, when in reality you are living the best of both worlds with a perfect campsite that is IN Portland. You can switch seamlessly between relaxing in nature off grid and then go down the road to enjoy city life. Not to mention you get to stay in a very cool dome with a clear paneled half that makes for some good stargazing.

10/10, I would definitely stay here again and recommend to anybody looking for a nice get away or just needing a place to hunker down when passing through Portland. Clean, perfect location, lots of local food and night life, and Dom & Ruby are great hosts. Check it out if you get the chance!

The Private Secret Garden
Dom and Amanda's place and family were so sweet! We loved the Dome in the Secret Garden, playing music barefoot in the backyard next to the raspberry bush, and eating a shared meal around the campfire under the stars. So beautiful and close to everything in Portland. The hosts were extra accommodating, offering firewood, special touches, and just such a lovely and friendly community vibe, even when our group arrived later than standard. Thank you so much for having this sacred space available to book. We hope to be back!

Great spot! We just needed one night sleeping arrangement last minute. Dom was super accommodating and prepped the space for us. The bed was comfortable and clean with AC. A fun concept to rest and hangout! Safe and easy to find.
For lunch/breakfast we went to Cherry Hill Deli! Super recommended European bakery, deli and goods store nearby.

Beautiful little oasis in a lovely neighborhood. Host provided clear instructions and was responsive. Porto was in great condition. We camped in a tent but the dome looked awesome, considering that for next time in town. Recommended!

Very cute space. The outdoor area is cute and well lit and has availability for sitting and/or having a fire. The dome itself is very well kept and there is WiFi as well as heat/AC if necessary. There is however, no shower and the outdoor sink was not attached to water when we were there so we couldn’t use it. There is an outhouse behind the dome and it is kind of dark back there so maybe have a headlamp. Communication with host was good and they were available as necessary.

It was totally my fault but I mistakenly thought the site I was renting was the geodesic dome. Just booked off pics alone and didn't realize there were separate tent spots and that was what I was renting. Like I said, my bad, it clearly says tent spot for rent. Lesson learned on just looking at pics and booking without reading.

The Heated dome was an amazing experience that I would highly recommend. Dom and Amanda and their little helpers were extremely kind, generous, and fun hosts. The accommodation was very clean, cozy, and close to the vibrant South East neighbourhood of Portland. It was very easy to get from the property to so many great bars and restaurants. Truly a magical experience!

A beautiful space, cozy and comfortable heated dome. WiFi and table were great for taking a meeting. The rainy evening and morning were super enjoyable and relaxing. Hosts had excellent communication. Bathroom was clean and well stocked. A hidden gem for sure!

This is the perfect spot for a unique and stress-free stay located in a quiet neighborhood close to everything. The dome is extremely comfortable and Dominique is very responsive to questions or needs.
Bonus: The wine and charcuterie package is delicious.

Dominique and his family are welcoming and gracious hosts. Their secret garden is centrally located to all of our weekend activities (from the Oregon State Fair to Multnomah Falls to Mt. Hood) and yet private. The dome was so comfy my 15yo skipped out on hammock sleeping and joined me in the large bed. We didn't want to leave! The fresh plums, pears and blackberries are also delicious and picked fresh from the trees. Highly recommend!

Great night at Dominique’s glamping dome. The AC was nice during the afternoon. luckily didn’t need it at night. Blankets and bed was nice and cozy. Outlet and WiFi was convenient. Water available via the garden hose. What a unique stay!
