Overall it was a pretty good experience and decent value for the price. Shannon and her partner were gracious hosts and they em've created a unique space. Portland is awesome!!
The biggest issue for us was the cleanliness of the backhouse. The floors were covered in so much dust, and because it was a small space the dust collected on our belongings and transferred onto the bed. We went to great lengths to keep the space clean, and we opted to not complain to the host because honestly we didn't feel comfortable enough. Dusting/vacuuming is an easy thing to tackle but must be handled between guests and not during a stay.

Shannon’s garden felt like a magical hidden urban escape. We were right in the heart of Portland with an easy drive to anywhere we wanted to go. The backyard cottage was very private and relaxing - but we spent most of our time there sitting in the garden enjoying it. We loved meeting Danny the dog and Shannon’s food and coffee recommendations (of which we used one for every meal during our stay) knocked it out of the park. Her hospitality was the difference between Portland as a stopover for us and a vacation stop we wish we’d had more time at. Definitely recommend!

Super cute and so comfy! The host thought of just about everything and made our stay so comfortable!
The grounds of the property are beautiful, the smell of fresh honeysuckle bask the aroma of the entryway into the backyard followed by such awesome outdoor area for relaxing!

If you want to feel like you're not in the city yet still be close to all the fun, this is the place. Check in was easy. The room is small and cozy and the bed was so comfortable. The yard filled with sweet smelling flowers, lights and a hanging bed was the perfect way to settle in for the night. The hosts made us coffee in the morning and we got to meet their adorable puppy! I felt like home here!

My partner and I had a wonderful experience staying here. Shannon showed us the upmost hospitality while we made a final stop in Portland after a two thousand mile long motorcycle trip. The best Hipcamp experience I have had. 10/10 would recommend.

Absolutely lovely!! We were on our last day of an extended motorcycle trip and wanted to stay somewhere special for our last night. We booked last minute and got in late. Shannon was kind, super easy to coordinate with, and very accommodating. The garden room was gorgeous, the bed - superb, and the swinging daybed in the garden!? Mind blowing. Shannon really put the icing on the cake by offering coffee and conversation in the morning, really doesn’t get much better. Please stay here if you’re passing through Portland!

Shannon’s home is truly a garden paradise. I am so grateful that she shared her magical little space with me! The room itself is so sweet and cozy, I slept like a baby! The garden is so thoughtfully laid out and full of life. Waking up to the birds chirping was one of my favorite parts! Shannon’s hospitality is top tier. She kindly gave me recommendations for coffee on my way out of town (I went to Jola, which was SO good!). I only wish I could have stayed longer. It was such a treat getting to spend the night here, and I wouldn’t think twice about booking it again! Thank you, Shannon, for such a lovely and comfortable stay!

We did not sleep here as the bedding was covered in dog hair. The sheets were dirty and after I pulled them off to let the host know, I discovered the mattress protector also not clean. The floors had not been swept. It was not a welcoming experience and I have asked the host for a refund. I would not leave a review like this normally but she made no attempt to make this situation better.

My stay at Shannon’s was nothing short of delightful! I was comfortable, felt safe, and was enchanted by the fine touches she’s put throughout the property. Soft lighting at night made it easy to wind down & fresh coffee/cream in the morning facilitated a pleasant wake up 🌞 she was receptive to any questions I had and extremely accommodating. I would definitely recommend this unique abode & would book with her again on future trips to Oregon!

We were only able to stay for a couple hours in order to catch our flight home, but Shannon was extremely accommodating and friendly, and met us when we arrived. Her backyard is so beautiful and I wish we could have had time to lounge on the swing bed in the yard!

We made it work. In the end I just needed a place to sleep and it worked.
I feel like the post for which I imagined I would be staying at was misleading. Everything described a room outside, sliding doorway, see through roof to see the sky. I thought for sure I would be staying in this cool, outdoorsy room in the backyard of the main house.
I made my way to this room in the backyard,
Made it inside the room, then got hollered at that we were actually staying upstairs in the main house. The outdoorsy room was their “summer room” and was a mess. So we were led to the room upstairs. There happened to be another guest staying in the other upstairs room. I re-read the description of the room I booked, and could not get over the confusion of how we ended up in the upstairs room of the house. Maybe I missed something when booking the post, but even after re-reading everything it seemed very confusing and misleading.
Like I said in the beginning, we made it work as we really just needed a place to stay, but it was not what I was expecting at all

I enjoyed staying in the garden retreat room on Shannon's property. Cute, quaint garden with some eclectic flair. Unique accent lighting at night.
Also enjoyed the Jasmine on the patio and the swing couch/bed under the pergola. Gratefully sampled from a large selection of both herbal (evening) and caffienated teas.
Easy to access both the shared kitchen and bath areas.
One note about the shared areas: we were surprised by some nude-themed decor (not overt, but a few items here and there)- so if that's not your thing it might be helpful to know ahead of time.

Overall we had a good experience and the hosts we're wonderful and so full of great information and very accommodating and helpful. The garden sleeping space was comfortable, unfortunately there were acorns that would drop regularly on the thin roofing and despite earplugs were very loud and surprising!

Immediately upon entering Shannon's Enchanted Garden we were met with a beautiful garden and a nice lounge area. The vibes were positive and relaxing. Shannon and her partner are very welcoming and kind, she also makes a great cup of coffee! The price is very reasonable and the location is still close to downtown Portland for when you're ready to explore. Highly recommend this place and would definitely come back in the future!

Shannon’s spot was beautiful and thoughtful, the perfect place for our overnight in Portland. We enjoyed a beautiful night around the fire pit relaxing in the twin bed sized porch swing. Our sleeping accommodations were comfortable and had a lovely view of the night sky. Would absolutely stay again.

Shannon's garden is absolutely beautiful!! She and her husband are wonderful hosts and just really kind people. They went above and beyond to see that I had everything that I needed. The room was very clean and the sheets smelled amazing! I would definitely stay again if I were ever back in Portland.

Perfect, easy, quaint stay close in to downtown PDX.

Shannon’s Enchanted Garden was splendid! Shannon was super welcoming, accommodating, and understanding, as I navigated schedule and time changes. The place is beautiful, incredibly creative, and comfortable. Definitely recommend staying if you get the chance!

Beautiful spot , loved the design. Photos are slightly deceiving since the kitchen / indoor area is not available at all. In the summer the room is hot and it’s tiny. Cool spot in Portland though. Maybe allow guests to use the kitchen and put a fan ? Not much privacy to use the garden itself with friends or use the campfire and swinging bed as the permanent dwellers are within ear range and also apparently we weren’t allowed to use the outdoor space as part of the paid hospitality. So photos are slightly deceiving but a nice spot overall , just not much privacy and no kitchen. A giant list of spots to eat were given , which was nice but also (maybe don’t include the kitchen and other rooms in the ad if they aren’t available ?) ya a fan would have done wonders . Gorgeous jasmin plant, pretty design. Fun portland experience overall.

Shannon’s garden space was the prefect, relaxing retreat! Their hospitality is so welcoming plus their handsome doggo Jaeger. This is the perfect space if you wanna chit chat with them or just tap into your introverted self and unwind! She provided perfect food recommendations and it’s easy to get to and from!

The property was stunning! The room was cosy, with a super comfy bed. Shannon and Shawn were generous hosts, making us feel right at home. We loved meeting their sweet dog, Jaeger :) The location was central to everything. We will look forward to our next visit. Definitely recommend to folks who are looking for a unique experience!
