Old Covered Wagon Camp
We stayed at the covered wagon for a full weekend in December and couldn’t have had a better time. Punch and Glen greeted us at the campsite and already had a fire going along with warm water in a huge cooler. The campsite has a kitchen stocked with cooking supplies (grill, dutch oven, spatulas, cooking spray, etc…), a fire ring, (heated!) shower, outhouse, picnic tables, and a hammock. We added on a tank of propane since it’s the middle of December— one tank lasts about 8 hours, which was plenty for two and a half days because the space heater warms the wagon up fast. The campsite is situated at the top of the hill overlooking the ranch— watching the horses roam around the pond in the evenings was so fun. Also, there’s a trail (marked off) from the campsite to Robber’s Cave that was totally secluded. We can’t wait to come back with a bigger group!

This site far exceeded our expectations, would definitely visit again! Fantastic sleeping and food prep facilities. Optional heating & cooling via generator was an unexpected perk. Hike or walk to Robbers Cave from the site + stables and horseback riding onsite. Wonderful trip, thank you!

Old Covered Wagon Camp
Private, no neighbors, peaceful!
We loved this place and hope to come again!! Very clean, cute Covered Wagon lodging. Queen bunk and two twin bunks with sheets and blanket. Huge private campsite with horse pasture views, beautiful woods surrounding. Amazing scented air. Hiking trails right from the site to Robber’s Cave and Lost Lake. Horseback riding available at Robber’s Creek Stables. They own/manage the camping and are the closest neighbors to this campsite, approx a quarter mile away. Site has Horseshoe pit, fire pits, charcoal grill, hammock, log porch swing, 2 lawn chairs, picnic tables, clean outhouse, warm/cold outdoor shower. Propane generator available for extra charge to power the 2 AC units in the Wagon, inside lights, phone charging. Kitchen shed with big stainless countertop, large gas grill, cast iron cookware and grill utensils. Some solar and propane lanterns/lights available. Jeanne, Cody, Robert and wife, and Glen were so attentive, kind , hospitable, checking in daily to see if there was anything we needed. There’s plenty of firewood but a burn ban in effect when we were there. The nights were such a perfect temperature we didn’t need a fire, but it would’ve been nice just because. The trail ride through the woods with Cody was relaxing and beautiful with well behaved, beautiful, healthy horses. This place is a hidden gem, we cannot recommend highly enough!! Important: Bring drinking water, coolers, headlamps, eating utensils. Keep food in coolers, totes or the car.

Old Covered Wagon Camp
Sweetest camping spot in Oklahoma!
There aren't enough great things to say about this wonderful site! The wagon itself can sleep 8 people easily; there are 2 sets of twin bunkbeds and a queen bunkbed set. We didn't use the generator, but there is one that's remote controlled. I highly recommend adding on the firewood; when we arrived it was cut, stacked, built and ready to go, Glen even offered to start it for us! The kitchen shed was spacious and well equipped, the cowboy grill and open fire cooking were perfect, the outhouse and cowboy shower were wonderful additions! The ample picnic tables, bench swing and hammock made this a truly amazing spot for a romantic getaway or larger parties. 💯 We can't wait to visit these folks and all the horses again, Definitely Recommend!

Another fun stay for our daughter-father horse and camping trip! Glenn, Misty and family are gracious hosts. The site is outfitted with a kitchen shed now, making it easy to prepare meals and close food to the critters. We’ll be back again

#1 Family Camping Spot - Secluded
Robbers cave was perfect. I have been camping my whole life (growing up in colorado), and it is hard to find such a place. It is secluded yet easy to drive up to with whatever vehicle you have. It has every amenity you can ask for and the hosts (Misty and Glenn) are the best hosts I have come across. They live on the property and answer texts right away and are there within minutes to fix any issues or deliver wood etc. They are extremely attentive. Like a personal concierge on a camping trip. The spot itself is amazing. The wagon sleeps 8 and and has 2 heaters hooked up to a generator off in the distance so its not loud. It got to 30 degrees both nights and we were cozy in there. There are about 3 large picnic table scattered about. 1 large fire ring over looking the valley and horse pasture/barn. and a separate fire ring decked out with campfire cooking equipment. Outdoor kitchen stocked to the 9's with grills utensils lanterns skillets etc. A very clean outhouse not far off and a heated outdoor shower near that. Hiking trails all around and surrounded by forest. This place really is unique and highly recommend. We will be back every year for the foreseeable future.

Book this site now!
Glen's place is a hidden gem. The site is beautiful and well thought out. He had an indoor kitchen with a gas grill that came in handy for our windy days. The outhouse was clean and the shower was hot. We paid for the generator so we had heat for our cold nights. Glen was a very attentive host and checked in a few times. I also highly recommend visiting the stable and riding horses. During the evening, the horses graze in the pasture near the wagon and it's truly special. We cant wait to return and bring our friends with us! You wont regret booking this site.

Amazing
We loved every aspect about camping here. We were expecting no amenities and there was everything we could have needed or wanted. We decided to stay in our tent but there are actual beds in the stagecoach and hut. Loved how close we were to hike and go to the river.

Fun place
This is a great spot in the park especially if you love horses and are going to ride. It’s so close to the stable but private and away from the crowds. Cooking on the fire was fun. One has a grill and bar with hooks to hang pots and pans over the fire. The beds in the basic wagon are comfortable and this is a great value place for a group. There were just two of us and full price was a bit steep but the experience good. Friendly and helpful folks. The warm shower and air conditioning were great and much needed in the summer heat.

A slice of heaven here on Earth
We’ve stayed at several hip camps and this camp site was the best by far. The property itself is a stunning setting within the state park. The views are magical. There is so much attention to detail in the campsite itself. We especially liked that there was a large campfire already waiting for us upon arrival. We made use of the s’mores sticks and some of the campfire cooking tools provided. In the morning we hiked all through the trails on the property that connect to the state park. We only passed one other person during our hike. The owner, Glen, is very friendly and genuine. We are very thankful he shares this slice of heaven with the world.

Old Covered Wagon Camp
The Old Covered Wagon site is the absolute best site we have experienced on Hipcamp! It is perfect for families and it set up with almost anything you could need. The site is secluded, back on the top of a hill, overlooking a horse pasture. It’s just the most relaxing place to wake up! The wagon has 8 bunks, with two of them pushed together to make a Queen-ish sized bed. The beds are comfy—bring a sleeping bag and a pillow and you’re all set! The wagon is cozy and stayed waterproof for us with an overnight rain. There are a couple of air conditioners inside, we did not test them out, but it is an option. There’s a covered picnic table and a second open-air table. There are three fire pits, each with different cooking options, as well as a big barbecue, so perfect for however you like to cook. There’s a great old fashioned swing next to one of the fire pits—the perfect s’mores spot! There’s also a hammock set up that’s big enough for two. There’s also an outhouse and a shower stall off to the side. We didn’t test the showers, but it was so nice to camp in a site with an outhouse. There was also plenty of firewood around. The site is really close to the Robbers Cave State Park, which has excellent hiking and climbing! Our horseback ride got rained out, but we’re looking forward to going back to this site and trying that next time!

Top camp experience: great for kids
This is a really special location and experience. We came here on a father daughter trip. Glenn greeted us upon arrival after dark and made sure we were set up comfortably at the camp. The bunks in the covered wagon a quite comfortable with futon style mattresses, space heaters and a generator to run a/c in the summer. There are a lot of nearby activities: horse rides, hiking, mountain biking, fishing, boating, canoe/kayaking. This property has its own secret trails for children to explore that lead to a fur trapper shed with a “treasure box”. We plan to come here again when we’ll have more time to explore the lakes, canyons and waterfalls nearby.

Stayed here with a group of friends and everyone had a great time! The host was very nice and helpful, and the views from the site were amazing. Getting to pet and ride horses through the woods was so much fun. There was plenty of areas to hike and it was pretty secluded. I do wish there was a lock on the inside of the wagon, but it’s possible we overlooked it. Overall I would definitely stay here again and plan to ride horses down there very soon!

Can't wait to return
Our group has collectively camped all over Oklahoma and Texas, and this was one of our favorite campsites we have ever been to. We arrived a little late, but Glen had lit a fire and lanterns and showed us around. We were impressed by the set-up and the cleanliness. It's strange to say, but the outhouse exceeded expectations...don't let that scare you off!! The view was lovely, we enjoyed the trails, and we were even able to do a little fishing. At the end of our stay we went for an hour horse ride and highly recommend that as well. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back.

Camping Made Easy
Let’s just say I single-handedly took six teens/tweens camping here and it was awesome, which is saying something considering the crew. The wagon is cozy and the bottom bunk mattresses were so soft! The property is gorgeous and you can hike from the site to the Robbers Cave. Glen and his dog Punchy were attentive and helpful—and Cowboys Glen and Gary went above and beyond and helped me load my car-top carrier. The kids loved the trail ride (a separate reservation and cost) and interacting with the horses. There are multiple fire pits and a Coleman stove. (BYO Propane). He has picnic tables and hanging lanterns (again BYOP). The wagon has battery lights, but I liked having our battery operated lantern as well. The outhouse was actually pretty nice. And can I say that I was not expecting the outdoor “cowboy” shower to have hot water but it did and it felt really nice after a long day of hiking—even the teen girls approved. There’s also a real bathroom down at the stables but we didn’t need it. Also, the state park has activities, we went to the Lake Carlton day use area just a few minutes up the road. There we rented canoes and paddle boats and visited the gift shop and they swam in the lake (it was cold!) and played in the sand. We can’t wait to come back.

Such a wonderful place, cant wait!!
We were booked the weekend of some really bad weather. We still made the 4 hour trip to try to make it work. When we arrived he had dry wood put up for us and everything looked so wonderful. We got a full tour of the whole campground and felt very welcomed. After we got to talking he offered us to reschedule so we didnt have to stay in the whole time and not really enjoy ourselves. We took the reschedule and will be adding more days when the weather is better!! I can not wait to go sleep under those stars!!!

Robbers Cave Stables was awesome!
We stayed in a covered wagon camp on a ridge at the edge of the woods. We were the only ones there. Below us was a meadow with a large pond and a barn. Beautiful horses roamed free, which we will make a reservation to ride next time. The kids got to pet cute baby farm animals. We hiked through the woods to Trapper's Cabin and figured out how to open the treasure box. The kids took a treasure and we left a treasure. It's right next to the state park where we enjoyed hiking the cave and canoeing. In the evenings we cooked on the campfire and sat around and talked and played games. It was a wonderful experience.

Beautiful location with privacy!
We have been camping at many campsites in a lot of different states and this site might be our favorite. It’s in a beautiful location with lots of privacy! It’s a peaceful area with great views, convenient setup and access to several trails (one that actually goes to robbers cave). We have three young kids who would have been pretty content if we had just stayed at the campsite for the duration of our trip. The covered wagon and the entire camp setup played on the history of the park and absolutely added to our experience. Glen was a great host and communication was very easy! We would absolutely stay here again!

The stay in the Old Covered Wagon was wonderful and relaxing. It would be a great spot for a family or small group of friends. There were there fire pits, plenty of picnic tables to eat at, and adequate lighting. The amenities were awesome and the rustic touches gave the site just the right feel. The view out on the pasture was magnificent as well. Hands down a wonderful place to stay and enjoy some time outside.
