Thornhill Bluff
Great spot, secluded in the woods next to Sand Run. The site is well maintained, access to bathroom, hosts are very nice and helpful. I hiked there via Sand Run, that requires some off-trail and a climb up a ravine with a rope, but very doable for those that want the adventure. Otherwise easy access to parking from the front of house.

Bike touring the Ohio to Erie Trail
Very nice secluded and spacious spot in the woods. Gary & Audrey were super nice and accommodating hosts. They shared a wrench with us so that we could make a small repair to our bicycle and told us about a shortcut through the woods to the local brewery. I highly recommend Thornhill Bluff!!

Fantastic weekend with friends in a great spot. So nice to feel deep in the woods, but be a short drive to everything you could need. Gary was extremely helpful and hospitable. Highly recommended.

A fall experience close to home
This is a favorite, plan to attend as often as possible! Love that the firewood is stocked and dry, as this was a colder weekend. The walks through the woods are soul lifting, even witnessed a buck in all it's majesty.

Fall Fun
The property and hosts were very accommodating in providing everything we needed for an extended stay. It was easy access to trails in CVNP as well as groceries and restaurants in town. The string lights made getting to and from the house at night a breeze and gave a nice ambience to the site. We got peppered with falling acorns but didn’t have any trouble with mosquitoes this late in the year. There was ample firewood available and the woodpiles helped block the wind and enhance privacy. The walk from the parking area is a considerable distance so bringing a wagon/cart would be helpful. Upon asking for restaurant suggestions the hosts were very helpful and considerate. Overall, great semi-primitive camping experience.

Wonderful
Thornhill Bluff exceeded our expectations. It was a stunning forest retreat in the middle of the suburbs. Our kids had a blast exploring the property and bordering metro park (climbing down the hill was a fun adventure).
The hosts were generous and hospitable.
We would camp here again in a heartbeat.

Favorite....peaceful and private
I cannot express how pleased I was with this experience! The host was very kind and welcoming. I typically go to Berlin Lake (we have a favorite site with a personal path down to the water) but it has become so busy, noisy, and stressful. I have looked for more low key/private sites this year, so grateful for stumbling upon Hipcamp and this property. This is already marked on my calendar and plan to return often. There are some easy trails leading off the site that snake through the woods, with great views of the ravines below. I would be cautious with little ones as they are quite steep!!!! Always add the firewood bundle, he has it stacked up so nice and kept dry. The Edison lights strung by the path and around campsite are very pleasant, as well as useful. Great firepit setup, be advised no grate. We were prepared with a tripod 👍. There are benches to sit around the fire so we never had to unload our chairs. I love this site and the hosts have gone above and beyond!

Nature, peace, quiet and solitude.
Gary and Audrey were friendly and welcoming. They answered all of my questions before i even asked them. I didn't even have my shelter set up yet, and i was already planning a return trip. The site is gorgeous, surrounded by revines and deep woods. A hiking trail goes right past the campsite! I enjoyed the solitude of being undisturbed and surrounded by nature. If staying in the summer, bring lots of bug spray and enjoy this beautiful hipcamp site.

All the reviews where right on... great hosts, awesome spot that is close to everything but makes you think you're really out in the woods. Will be returning and definitely recommend.

Great site and great hosts!
What a great site! What wonderful hosts! This is a great site for a family getaway with your little ones. With the scenic location, fantastic amenities (like firewood!), and the peace of mind of having access to a bathroom in an emergency, we had a blast with our little guys (ages 3 and 5) along. What a great way to make memories during these difficult times.

Exceeded our expectations
Thornhill Bluff was an incredible place to stay! Gary and Audrey are amazing hosts, they go above and beyond! It was great to have a bathroom that we could use and yet camp far enough away from the house to feel like we were at a campground (almost like a back country site). But even better than a normal campground because you don't have to deal with loud neighbors or cars driving by. The way the property is on the border of the metro park gives you a feel you are in the forest and there is a nice ravine right behind the site. It was wonderful having cut wood right there that we did not have to bring ourselves. We also felt very safe. And the site is less than a 10 minute drive to the National Park. The metro parks are amazing too. We had a wonderful weekend at Thornhill Bluff and exploring Cuyahoga National Park and the Metro Parks.

This campsite was exactly what we needed for a low key visit to CVNP. It was easy to access and had everything we needed. The site is just far enough from the hosts home that you feel like you are deep in the woods. I would definitely recommend this site.

This was an excellent find! Although it seemed strange at first that we were in a neighborhood, the property backed up to a beautiful woods next to a metro park. The setup was awesome. We pitched 6 tents and enjoyed the campfire. Gary was a great host who made sure we felt right at home and had dry firewood and access to a clean bathroom and a garage full of tools, etc. highly recommended if visiting Cuyahoga National Park since camping is limited in the area!!

The site is nestled back into the woods behind the host’s house. It seems bizarre to be camping in a neighborhood, but it was absolutely perfect. We felt safe and secure, while also feeling like we were camping out in a secluded wooded site.
The hosts provided wood for fire, as well as a bathroom in the main house. We had to cancel a night due to severe weather, and the hosts were super flexible with cancellation, making our booking super easy to manage. Would definitely recommend this site to anyone looking for a camp spot close to CVNP or hiking in the Akron Metro Parks.

A perfect campsite
Am outstanding bliss in the middle of a well habituated neighborhood. This was my first time camping in the middle of a very long roadtrip to Montana from NYC. And we wouldn't havw found a better place. The drive to the camp site is pretty surrounded by the Cuyahoga preserve. Then you get surprised when you are greeted by a well developed road through a great neighborhood. You pull in to the driceway of the amazing hosts, who greeted us warmlu, even though we were crazy late. The actual camp site is in the backyard of their house, a little walk parallel to the ravine in a forest clearing. So you are away from people, in the middle of nature yet so close. That was just amazing. Gary and audrey are fantastic, warm hosts. They had everything one would need to set up a camp, light a campfire. The bathroom access was easy and was kept immaculate. Truly a bliss and will surely visit again.

Great for Large Groups
Gary and Audrey were very kind and accommodating hosts. Gary checked in a bunch of times to see if there was anything he could do to make our stay better, and he was very quick to answer all the messages I sent pre-trip.
Pros: The site is in Gary and Audrey's backyard, but is far back enough from the house that privacy wasn't an issue. The bathroom was in Gary and Audrey's house right off the garage, so it was temperature-controlled and had a toilet, a sink, and plenty of soap and using it didn't feel intrusive.
Lots of firewood was available. The site had a fire ring so fire safety was not an issue, and it was in the woods with shade so the sun was not an issue. There was a table so we could put out our snacks. There are several parks in the vicinity for hiking. The area around the fire ring was large enough to accommodate my large group (16 people).
Cautions: The site is a 3 or 4 minute walk from the driveway, so you have to schlep all of your equipment for a bit. There were quite a few mosquitoes and everyone was bit up even after using repellent. There was a patch of poison ivy by one of the tents - though Gary was quick to clear it when requested. There's no space for the games I traditionally bring camping (croquet, ladder golf).
Thank you to Gary and Audrey for making this a very pleasant and smooth camping trip. I look forward to seeing you in the future.
