Heritage Farms was founded in 1848 by my great great uncle, Lawson Waterman. I am the 5th generation to farm the land and carry on the legacy that started 175 years ago. Each generation has done something different with the land. My father started raising Christmas trees on the farm in 1955. I took over in 1979 growing Christmas trees and other crops. Today our focus is agrotourism. Besides growing Christmas trees we host a Handcrafted Artisan Market 6 times during the the summer months and celebrate Fall with our month-long Pumpkin Pandemonium in October. We added camping 8 years ago after a trip to Denmark where we saw our first camping shelters. THINGS WE WOULD LIKE YOU TO KNOW BEFORE BOOKING: 1. Sites 1 through 6 have a shelter and room for 2 tents. Sites A through J are tent sites only with room for 3 tents. All sites are limited to a maximum of 6 campers 2. All vehicles except bicycles must park in the parking lot. 3. No vehicles may be driven into the camping area at any time. 4. You must carry all your gear to your camp site. We have wheeled carts you may use. 5. Our Ohio Primitive Camping License does not allow for any wheeled camping on the Farm. This includes car camping, truck campers, popups, RV's and any other wheeled camping vehicle. 6. Due to Summit County Health Regulations we can not provide any water. Please bring in all your drinking and wash water. You can also purchase 1 gallon jugs when you make your reservation or upon arrival at Heritage Farms using our Paypal QR code or with cash. 7. No outside firewood may be brought on to Heritage Farms property. Firewood is available for purchase when you make your reservation. You may also purchase firewood when you arrive at Heritage Farms using our Paypal QR code, with credit card or with cash. 8. Check in is from 3:00pm to 7:00pm. If you will be arriving after 7:00pm, please let us know your estimated time of arrival. If we know you are arriving after dark, we will mark your site with a solar light. Check out is before 10:00am. 9. Only registered Hipcamp campers are allowed on property. There is a public picnic area 1/4 mile south of the Farm if you would like to socialize with friends and family who are not camping at Heritage Farms. 10. DOG POLICY: Dogs are welcome WITH PRIOR PERMISSION from the Farm owners. We limit the number of dogs on property each day. There is a dog registration form you must fill out when you arrive so be sure you have your dog's rabies tag information. Unvaccinated dogs are not allowed. All dogs MUST be on a leash and physically in your control at all times. No pets may be left unattended at any time. You must take your pets with you any time you leave the farm. 11. Tent site occupancy is limited to 6 campers and 3 tents. Shelter Site occupancy is limited to 6 campers and 2 tents. 12. Read our Farm and Safety Rules before booking. Our 15 primitive campsites are 25 yards to 50 yards apart. This allows plenty of Social Distancing as well as privacy. The 15 primitive tent camp sites at Heritage Farms open Friday April 21 2023. From September 20, 2023 to October 21, 2023 only Camp Sites 1, 2, 3, 4 , 5 and G, H and J will be open. Heritage Farms is a 5th generation, 115-acre farm located in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Our primitive campsites are located along the boundaries of the SE portion of the property. We have worked hard to place sites so there is privacy with beautiful views. Some tent sites are just feet from the park boundary. We are a working Christmas Tree farm, so our tree fields are the backdrop for all of our camping sites. Sites 3 and 4 and A, C, E, F, G, H and J have trees perfect for hanging hammocks. If you are looking for a site with afternoon shade try Sites A, B,C,D,E,G,H and J Site 2 is for sun lovers. Site H is shady almost all day long. Camp site F gives you a little bit of sun, shade and the sounds of the creek . Every site provides you with either a gorgeous sunrise, a beautiful sunset or both. The sunsets at Heritage Farms are awesome. EVENTS at HERITAGE FARMS you might be interested in: PENINSULA FLEA ARTISAN MARKETS. Check out our 70+ local artists from 10:00am to 4:00pm on June 3rd, June 17th, July 1st, July22nd, August 5th and September 2nd. There will be food trucks and live music. Free to all. Pumpkin Pandemonium takes over the farm on weekends from September 23rd to October 22nd. Enjoy the Fall colors, live music food vendors and activities. Admission tickets are required for our Maze, Scavenger Hunt, Kids Zone play area and the hayride. Pumpkins, straw bales corn stalks and Fall decorations will be available for purchase. September and October are beautiful months to camp on the farm. Please note that our hayride trail passes some of the campsites. Check out Heritage Farms on the internet for more info or message Carol and George thru Hipcamp with questions. We ask that no trash be left at campsites. Please take it home with you or deposit it in the dumpster in our parking area. Due to county health department regulations, you must bring in all water. There are 4 portable toilets near the parking area. There is plenty of parking in our parking area.. Firewood can be purchased as an EXTRA when you make your reservation , at Heritage Farms by using our PAYPAL QR Code posted throughout the farm or with a credit card or cash. At the Information booth you will find charging stations for charging your electronics and plugs for the electric pump on your air mattress. We do not allow generators in any of our camp sites. Also at the Info Booth you will find Camp Rules, Emergency Information, CVNP Trail maps, info on local restaurants and stores and fliers about Heritage Farms. The small village of Peninsula is a short 1/4 mile walk from the farm. There are 2 restaurants, a great music venue, hike and bike trails, and the Cuyahoga Valley National Park right at our door step. We even have a local swimming area called The Quarry that offers day passes to visitors. Peninsula and our farm are true gems in a beautiful rural wooded setting 15 minutes from Blossom Music Center, restaurants, retail areas, CVNP, Akron and Cleveland Metro Parks, and just about anything else you may want or need.

This campsite is absolutely gorgeous! Check-in was easy and everyone was super helpful and friendly! Depending on what campsite you reserve, it might be a bit of a walk to get to, but they provide wheelbarrows to help transport your stuff. We stayed at a tent site right at the edge of the property and it was right next to a nice little trail that is part of CVNP. Overall, highly recommend staying here!

Site 5 - Camp at Heritage Farms in CVNP

First time - will be back!

Overall great site. A mix of primitive, open platform and mini chalets overlooking a Christmas tree farm from gentle rolling hills. The sites are all clean and while you can see some of the other sites from yours, they generally aren't too close together. As an area native, I took advantage of a 3 mile trail that one side of the property butts up against. Everything seems well run, and as an operation that is more than just camping, there are other amenities/activities depending on when you go. I camped in the Fall, so their "Pumpkin Pandemonium" event was in full swing with corn maze, pumpkins and other stuff. I do believe there is a small Farmer's Market on the grounds during the summer as well. As a commercial operation - be aware there is a pavilion on the grounds. The night I stayed there was a party going on with tractor rides and celebrations into the night. Everything got shut down right at 9 though and then it was back to the sounds of Fall insects. Well run, clean, great experience and will camp here again.

Scenic, quite and close to OTET. Easy to get to and great service upon arrival. Nice to not be subjected to RV’s and loud generators. Shelter’s are a great place to organize and pack up before heading out. Highly recommend.

Great Weekend with the Kids and Dog

I spent an extended weekend at Heritage Tree Farm with my two boys and our dog. We had a wonderful experience tent camping. Our site was located on a hill that had a lovely view overlooking the farm and the central location was perfect for daily adventures. I would absolutely choose this location to stay again in the future.

Absolutely beautiful camping spot, especially with the fall foliage! Carol and George are very friendly and helpful, delivering firewood and/or gallons of drinking water directly to our campsite, purchased using a QR code posted at each site. Beautiful property. Unfortunately I couldn’t use the spot I reserved . The site was located on the side of a hill. The site should have been designated as hammock only site. No way you could have enjoyed sleeping in a tent on the side of a steep hill.

Lovely site on an evergreen farm

We had a wonderful time camping on this beautiful property. It's very unique to camp on a Christmas tree farm and they also had a pumpkin patch and corn maze for the fall season. The hosts were very helpful and the property is gorgeous. Keep in mind that there's no water at the site (bring your own) and you'll need to bring your items to the site (they provide wheelbarrows), but this didn't take away from our experience at all. Highly recommend!

Great camping in CVNP

I stayed in campsite H. I would honestly recommend any site other than H, unless it’s the summer time. H got really shaded which would be perfect for the summer time (I was there in October so it was cold). H is also on a bit of a hill so it was a bit uncomfortable to sleep. Overall, this place is awesome. The property and Christmas trees are so beautiful. We got to see the leaves change and talked to the owner and learned about Christmas tree farming. There is also a trail right next to the property called the Tree Farm Trail that I highly recommend (~3 miles, flat). The hosts responded very quickly (considering that they were very busy with the pumpkin patch) and all the workers there were friendly. A person there helped with my dog while I used the restroom. It’s a bummer that you can’t bring firewood (I understand why since it’s a tree farm) but they will bring it to you, which I thought was VERY convenient. I’m so glad I got to stay here, since there aren’t many places to camp in CVNP and plan to be back soon.

A Gem

The photos don’t do this place justice. Heritage Farms is rich in character and charm. The campsites are spread out and private, tucked away throughout a Christmas tree farm with scenic views. The farm was easy to find and despite the Pumpkin Pandemonium festivities going on, check in and parking/unloading was smooth. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful (thanks, Randy!) The farm is just a short jaunt to Peninsula and provides quick access to some of the best trailheads in the park. Can’t wait to stay here again.

Beautiful camp grounds!

Our experience was great! We had to check in late so it was well after dark when we were trying to find and set up our campsite. Carol and George made it easy for us! There was a white line on the ground that lead us up to the campsites, and they had left a camp light at our site so we could find it easier. It was also very easy to buy firewood. It was cheaper than it was in town, and they delivered it to the campsite! The tree farm was beautiful and had very close access to CVNP!

I had a great stay. I rode in on a bicycle and only camped for one night but I really enjoyed it. I had a site with a lean too and loved it. The place was well kept, neat, and they even had a small broom and dust pan to sweep it out in the morning. They had the water and wood I ordered at the site. The woman who ran the place was a very nice woman who even noticed how hot it was and offered me a bottle of water when I rode in. Generally nice people!

Beautiful camp near many parks

I stayed at a site with a shelter which was great as I arrived late and didn't have to worry about setting up my tent. It is very quiet, with no traffic sounds and there are so many parks to explore nearby. The hosts were very gracious. There was a slight mix up about the firewood and they immediately fixed the issue. I'd stay here again next time I visit the area.
