Camp Henning at Ellerbe Springs

Ellerbe, North Carolina
43 acres
The Ellerbe Springs property has long been a place for people to get away and relax. The Ellerbe family first used the property as a summer escape and hunting lodge. The Ellerbe Springs Inn, which originally opened in 1890, is now a Bed & Breakfast and event venue. In the 1950's, the property was owned by the Boy Scouts of America, who named the campground "Camp Dick Henning" in honor of the first local Boy Scout killed during World War II. In the 1970's, the then-owners constructed a campground with water and electric hook ups. Today, the current owners are in the process of constructing a campground to accommodate today's RVs, tents, and other campers. The first 6 full hook-up spaces are open, with future capacity of 100 spaces. There are plenty of areas for tents!
