Nestled in the heart of southeast North Carolina and conveniently located an hour from Wilmington, Jacksonville and Fayetteville — our 40+ acre family land is situated directly on historic Black River. Well known for its beautiful trees, wildlife and fisheries, Black River is also home to the oldest bald cypress forest in the world, many being alive hundreds of years before Jesus walked the earth. We are the only riverfront camping experience on Black River so we aim to provide you the best views, the most exceptional hospitality (from hosts Lisa and Eric), with hopes that you leave completely happy with our little piece of heaven and wanting to return year after year!

Very quiet and peaceful sites right on the river. Campground was very clean and well cared for. Lisa made sure to check in with us and made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Would highly recommend!

This spot is spacious & relaxing. I went kayaking up the river 2.7 miles with my friends & 2 dogs & it was a blast. I can tell this spot would make for some great fishing as well. We’ll have to come back & do that next time. This campground & its facilities are also kept so clean. You couldn’t ask for a better experience.

Site 11 - Black River Camping Ventures
We had an awesome stay at Black River Camping Ventures, camping at Site 11. This spot is easily one of our favorite local getaways. The campsite itself is quiet, well laid out, and perfect for a relaxing weekend outdoors. We spent a few hours fishing and caught plenty of nice-sized bream, which made the trip even better. It’s the kind of place where you can slow down, enjoy the scenery, and just have a good time without needing much else. Great atmosphere, great fishing, and an all-around solid experience. If you’re looking for a peaceful spot to camp and unwind, Site 11 is definitely worth booking. We’ll definitely be coming back for years to come.

Black River Adventure Hipcamp is the BEST. It is right on the river across from an over 1,000 year old cypress tree forest. And Lisa, the host is wonderful and makes sure all your needs are taken care of.

Black River campground was beautiful and very clean. The portapotty was actually the cleanest, best smelling portapotty I’ve ever been in. Lisa stopped by our campsite to give us a free Black River sticker and she was very kind. We will be back!!

I’m torn! This place is a hidden gem right here in my home county. Every site is clean and waterfront. Facilities were well maintained and Ms Lisa is the bomb! But don’t come LOL we wana keep this hidden so it isn’t always booked up! Just kidding, you will love this place, it’s everything that is advertised and more. No wonder it’s won Hipcamp awards. We will be back no doubt.

Have been here 4 times. Wish I could be here every weekend, year long. Other review mention stars? Not kidding, big dipper looked so close seemed to fill half of the sky. Milky Way in winter the same.. Owls singing at night,, woodpeckers pecking all over. River freezing year round with huge rapids. PLEASE stay away. I want it all to myself!

Camping at Black River was amazing! Our campsite was right on the river and we were able to easily load the canoe in and out of the water from our site. Nice clean campground and the kids loved the little beach area. Looking forward to our next stay here!

We love camping here. We’ve been twice so far. Once with our whole family last summer, and once recently. Both times have been exactly what we’ve needed. The area is beautiful and well maintained. The summer camping was so much fun for us and the kids. We enjoyed the river using tubes and swimming by the small beach area while camping near camp 9-10. Being able to camp at camp 1 this time was great for a more private feel.

The camp site was nice and spacious. A rake was provided which came in handy for laying down the tent. This is a very clean campground. Fishing in the Black River was great and you will catch different types of fish.

I absolutely loved my stay at Black River Camping Ventures! This is a gorgeous, pristine private family campground directly on the Black River. I camped here spur of the moment in the off season near the winter holidays. My tent site was immaculate, the check-in/out super easy, and my host Lisa made time to keep in good contact and to come by for a visit. The location is great for easy paddling access to the river. I originally planned a longer trek downstream and ended up just staying and exploring the ancient cypress swamps right around the campgrounds. Will definitely be back and I recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful time on the Black River! Thanks, Lisa!

Yet again, another wonderful weekend at Black River Camping Ventures. I think this is my third Thanksgiving weekend in a row. And I will be back. The beauty of this area is breathtaking. I am more amazed each visit. Thanks as usual to Lisa and Eric for being the perfect hosts. They are always willing to help with any needs. For anyone camping this past weekend, I will hopefully see you next year!
