Beautiful country. A private place to camp away from the masses with an incredible view. What more could you want. As far as things to do around Valentine, you’re in the thick of it. 10 minutes from anything. Victoria and Carl are the type of people I would call the “Real Deal”. Take the bison tour. Don’t think about it, do it. It’s something you’ll never forget. Beautiful majestic beasts up close. I could say more about how much we enjoyed it, but I wouldn’t want to make Carl blush. Hope to do again soon.

We have been to this site before. Every visit brings something new. A beautiful sunset, a rainbow after a storm, an increasing awareness of the quiet of this place or a walk exploring.

Scenic River Site
This was a great, simple site for tent camping. Trees, a great spot to watch the full moon. Bison jerkey and honey were delicious. And kayaking down the Niobara river was a real treat too.

Beaver Pond
Peace, privacy, and natural beauty
We loved our stay at Beaver Pond! It was such a beautiful and peaceful site and you can't ask for better hosts. It felt secluded and private but was in easy distance to town and all the places we wanted to visit. There is some road noise from the highway but very little traffic (especially at night). We had daily visits through the campsite from two turkey hens and their 10 chicks, plus deer and countless birds. The pond is very clear so you can watch the fish and turtles, too. And the stargazing was just incredible! Our little dog absolutely loved exploring and napping in the sun all day. So much better than being stuck on a leash in a campground 🙂 Highly recommend doing the bison tour...it was an amazing experience!

Scenic River Site
Private, Clean and great hosts!
Victoria and her husband were wonderful hosts! They have stunning camp sites with great scenery. I bought some of her honey as well and it was delicious! We will definitely be coming back! Far enough away to see all of the beautiful starts, sunrise and sunset. Yet, close enough to some great outdoor activities! Hoping to do the bison tour next trip.

We love this site. The beauty of the bluffs along the Niobrara in complete solitude with extraordinary hosts. Be sure and try the jerky and honey. Don’t miss the bison tour with so much shared information about bison history and care.

One-of-a-kind experience
Our scenic overlook campsite was beautiful, peaceful, and clean. We tent camped with our seven-year-old daughter, who loved the nearby waterfalls at Smith Falls and the river at the refuge. But the absolute highlight of the trip was our private tour of the bison ranch with Vicki and Carl. Our daughter was totally enamored with Carl. The two of them definitely connected with their love of animals and animal facts. We’ve been to a bison preserve before and seen them standing by a fence. But here we got to drive alongside the bison as they ran! (Vicki will tell you, they are athletic animals.) And enjoy an open-air glass of wine in the grasslands, watching the sunset, while surrounded by the herd and learning about grasslands ecology.

Gorgeous views!
This spot is gorgeous and overlooks a beautiful valley of trees. My dog and I had a great time exploring the land. The sunset was incredibly and once it finally got dark, we could see so many stars! Victoria was a great host and was so kind to refund me for an unused night when I got sick and had to leave early.

Scenic River Site
Vicki and Carl have an absolute gem of a campsite. Photos don’t do it justice, but your experience will reward you for a life time. The listing is spot on, the grounds are well kept, and the stars at night just add to the bliss of their sites.
Not only did I camp on their land, but I was fortunate enough to spend a good bit of time with them seeing their bison up close and personal, but safely of course! These two are the most incredible hosts that I’ve ever had. Not only are they friendly and would help you with anything you need, they are extremely knowledgeable about the area and point you in all the right directions!
This was an extremely important trip for me and these two certainly made it worth it. I’d highly recommend not only the Scenic View site, but all of the other sites they have as well! I will most definitely be coming back!

Scenic River Site
We lived staying on Victoria's land. We choose the site for a meetup of Happier Camper owners, and it was perfect. Secluded and scenic, even sporadic rain didn't ruin the fun. As the description notes, it is unimproved land, but gorgeous views, no road noise (but great cell service) and lots of room for dogs to roam and us to explore.
Carl and Vicky are great hosts and wonderful people. Add the prairie and bison tour to your trip for a cool, up-close-and-personal visit with their herd!

Wonderful stay in Nebraska
I would highly recommend this campsite to anyone passing through this beautiful area of Nebraska. Vicky and Carl were very gracious hosts - offering us a tour of their bison herd as well as a lot of really interesting information about the area. They have two beautiful sites to choose from - ideally you would have a chance to experience both! And don’t forget to get some bison jerky. It’s excellent!

Incredible views from this private, gorgeous spot. The hosts went so far above and beyond, they were just lovely people. We loved the Bison tour and these incredible animals and the day we spent swimming in the Smith waterfalls and the Niobrara river. Just lovely.

Scenic River Site
The camping spot is more beautiful in person then the photos. Very private and secluded. Very quite and peaceful. I highly recommend. When we arrived Vicky greeted us with fresh tomatoes, bison jerky and information about Valitine. Carl came to our site in morning and picked us up in his truck and gave us a tour. He took us to see the Bison up close and personal. It was amazing. Carl is extremely knowledgeable and interesting. I highly recommend going on tour.

fab views overlooking preserve!
Victoria & Carl’s campsite overlooking the Fort Niobrara National Wildlife Preserve was the perfect spot for us and our 2 dogs for the holiday weekend! Our mini Skoolie made the drive in easily over the grass & straw path. the views are GORGEOUS and the site is private and serene.
we spent most of Saturday at in the Preserve and in the Niobrara River, thx for the recommendation! it was not crowded at all, and we were there on the 4th of July. we saw horses, deer, snakes, and prairie dogs! the river is wide and shallow, the surrounding trails are beautiful.

Peaceful, private, beautiful!
My wife, daughter, son in law and four grandchildren woke up each morning to the amazing views of the Niobrara river valley and to the sounds of turkey gobbling, and birds singing. This site is huge and the access was a breeze. We easily pulled a 27 foot camper in and had plenty of room for a tent and a large screen room. Privacy is another word to describe this site. We were a long way from the road and not another home or building was in sight making this one of our most peaceful camping experiences. Yet we were still minutes away from Fort Niobrara National Wildlife Refuge, Smith Falls and the other attractions in the area.
We opted for the add on buffalo tour. Do it! The kids will love this! The land owner took us out to his private herd so
we could be up close and personal with these majestic animals. To be honest it was a little scary and amazing all at the same time to be so close to wild buffalo. The host was also very helpful answering our questions about buffalo, the areas wildlife and other attractions.
