North camp
Francis Heath's land is in the Nebraska Sandhills, a place we have always wanted to go to, and they are indeed sandhills, with lots of plants growing on them. The camp is right on top at the edge of a canyon, with the Niobrara river in the canyon below. We were able to take a walk down the canyon when we arrived, with deer everywhere. Francis provides a very nice camp, with water, a fire pit and stack of wood, an outhouse(such an essential amenity at the Hipcamps), and a night sky that was extraordinary. Francis' directions were very easy to follow and he is a great host - he aims to please his guests. This is a big working farm/ranch, and he was harvesting corn into the night, trucking it over to the granary(that the camp is next to), and funneling it in at the top, making the most wonderful sound. We enjoyed the energy of the harvest and appreciate the farmers who grow food for us. Thank you Francis for a wonderful evening on our travels!

the Site was private and Picturesque with beautiful views of the canyons and valleys. Our host Francis greeted us upon arrival and was very welcoming. The bathroom was clean and well-stocked.it was very windy during our stay and I would make sure your tent stakes are secure.

We stopped for a night to break up a long drive back home from the Black Hills. Friendly hosts, Francis was super helpful with directions. Very quiet, nice big campsite and a pretty sunset view. Would definitely recommend if you’re passing by this way!

We got to the site very late at night. Francis came right out to help us. He helped start our fire and guide us around the property. Would definitely recommend. (Make sure you follow his directions in)

Beautiful and remote NE camping
Amazing remote camp spot off of Rt 20. Beautiful piece of land. Wide open. Francis was gracious and welcoming. He came up to our camp, welcomed us in and offered to park a farm vehicle next to our tent as a wind break. We would no doubt camp there again if we pass through. Francis also tipped us off to a student run grocery store (Circle C Market) along Route 20. A must stop for camp travelers.
Thanks Francis! North Camp was amazing!

Unique Experience!!
North camp was nothing like I expected but my boyfriend and I loved it anyways!! We were the only people there. The coordinates in the gps took us to the wrong location, but after going back and carefully reading the written instructions we were easily able to find the camp. Definitely glad we arrived during the daytime otherwise we may have never found it. But the farm was vast and the canyon was beautiful to explore. We even saw deer running around in the morning! I had originally picked north camp because I wanted to see the beautiful night stars. Although it was cloudy that night the sky was still pretty and the sunset/sunrise lit the whole sky orange and pink. Also, the host Francis and his family are very nice and helpful!

Serene and scenic
This place was in such a cool spot. We had an amazing sunset both evenings. Francis and wife Dolores were super nice. They stopped to say hello once or twice and then it felt as though we were completely alone on a cattle farm.

This place was amazing! Beautiful skies, beautiful land. Close to a great swim spot in the Niobrara. The hosts were friendly and we spent probably a total of an hour chatting with them! They even brought us strawberries from their garden!!

The hosts kindly found a place out of the wind for us to pitch out tent. Very beautiful and interesting landforms along the Niobrara River. I suspect that the birding would be excellent in another week Overall a lovely location

I lucked out on this one!
Wasn't sure what to expect honestly, this was only my second Hipcamp stay. I had a bit of trouble finding the place because I did not follow the instructions properly, and as the sun was setting I decided I would need to call the host, Francis, for a bit of assistance. What I got was much more than that as he right away offered to make his way to me and lead me the rest of the way! I managed to find my way there without him having to come and rescue me, as I was not too far off course, just on the wrong side of the river. The fact that he offered to do that speaks volumes about the kind of person he is. I felt welcomed and relieved as he greeted me on arrival.
The site itself, for me, was perfect. The night sky is incredible! You are just bombarded with stars. I saw several shooting stars just the first night. I was able to easily get my 20' camper in and out, and was on level ground. There is water and an electrical hookup if needed. There are cows that roam around freely nearby, and they do communicate amongst one another, which I enjoyed. If you are looking for absolute silence the cows are gonna ruin your plans :)
The first night I woke in the middle of the night, I think mainly just from the excitement of my recent travels. I decided to take a quick peek outside at the stars hoping to catch another shooting star; and as I opened the door I was greeted by a beautiful horse having a drink at the watering hole near the site, maybe 20 feet away, and illuminated by the light of the moon. It was a sight to see.
There is beauty all around here: from the night sky, to the canyons, to the many animals all around. Francis and his wife are exemplary hosts, and were beyond helpful and kind! I hope I get to see them again, truly. A wonderful experience all around!

Very remote, great for star-gazing. The site is quite large and would be great for large groups. Lots of deer running around near the site is fun. Very nice looking place as well.

Quiet out of the way place
Francis is very welcoming. The site is flat, easy to get a trailer in, though it’s closer to 3.9 miles from the 4 way by the trip odometer in my truck. Water is at the site, a fire ring sunk into the ground (it can be a little windy), and a vault toilet surrounded by big haybales. Very quiet with no light pollution, stargazing would be excellent if the clouds cooperate. Highway 20 doesn’t seem to be heavily traveled.

Peaceful paradise
Francis was extremely welcoming and made every effort to give us the best possible experience on his verdant land. He was in touch during our travel day so that he could meet us at the ranch. He offered a few campsites, and the two we saw were unparalleled in their seclusion and immersion in nature. He checked on us to make sure all was well, and even offered rides on his ATV to our kids. We enjoyed learning about ranch life from him and his wife. Also, great hiking on the ranch! Thank you for a memorable stay.

Peaceful, verdant, paradise.
Francis is a wonderful host who went out of his way to welcome us and help us select a campsite that was well-suited to the weather. He met us at the road after checking in our arrival time throughout the day, and offered three campsites - any of them would have been great. His land is gorgeous and totally secluded. We enjoyed hiking, watching the cows, and Francis’s ATV rides were a standout highlight for our son. We enjoyed meeting Francis and his wife and learning about the ranch. We didn’t expect the hospitality - we felt so welcome!
