I feel so lucky to have stayed here, it was such a warm and magical place with seriously the most kind, caring, open, funny, hospitable people! Sophie and Starky's place is much more than your typical campsite, they make you truly feel at home and they really care about everyone who passes through or just stops by. I hope to make it back someday!
Also- the bathrooms were incredibly clean and so nice. And make sure you check out the arcade shed!! Cannot recommend this place enough!

Sophie’s campground was absolutely wonderful, we actually extended our stay there. We were camping with our 6 year old so safety and clean bathrooms were a top priority and they exceeded our expectations. Sophie and Starkey went above and beyond the call of duty to make our stay great. I would stay here again and recommend to anyone. The drive to their site stunning and camping with the sound of the river in the background was the perfect Montana experience.

Top Notch Site and Hospitality
Stayed here after spending 2 days in Yellowstone. Such a cool spot. And the hospitality was second to none. We were upgraded to a 4 person, bedded, heated, and all out deluxe style tent. It made for an unforgettable evening. This will be a prime spot for spring and summer camping. The river views are great. The property sits right on the Madison. Fishing on the Madison River is suppose to be excellent. We look forward to coming back some day. Big thank you to Sophia for welcoming us in.

The most incredible place I have ever stayed. Everything about it was perfect from the check in process to the guided tour of the property. The Owners are the nicest people and the property is stunning. Easily the greatest experience I've ever had camping!

Holy moly what a pleasant surprise! I normally stay at KOAs when on the road because I know what to expect but there was nothing available in the area so I gave this place a try and I'm glad I did. The couple running it are great. We were met as we arrived and given a tour of the grounds and all the amenities. We booked a simple tent site but were upgraded to one of the glamping canvas tents free of charge. We opted out of buying dinner because we already had plans but as we were sitting around the fire later on that night the owner came up to let us know he had leftovers if we wanted any free of charge. We took him up on it and ended up chatting for a couple of hours over dinner. I hope you find a lot of success with your place, man. We had a great time.

Sophie And Starky were amazing hosts! We planned on just staying one night but we ended up staying for 5! It was amazing. Everything was clean and warm and we enjoyed some dinners and breakfasts with them (starky is an amazing cook!). The place was really cool too and perfect for getting to Yellowstone. We slept in a glamping tent which I can highly recommend! We will definitely come back in the future.

Glamping in rural Montana
Loved this great little spot nestled in the Madison river valley. The drive was breathtaking and really answers the question, why is Montana called the big sky state? Very lovely property with clean facilities and extremely helpful hosts. Yellowstone is very near and made for a fun hiking trip. The hosts were nice enough to cook our meals for a small price since restaurants are few and far between. Best part was the hosts vision to grow this property into their dream business and really care about the customer. Will definitely be back.

Above and beyond all expectations.
Amazing location with all the amenities you could ever want and then some! (Seriously, there’s a heated arcade). The hosts greet you with a genuine open hand and are eager to go above and beyond to meet any potential needs. Home cooked meals offered for breakfast and dinner.
Super easy walk down an embankment to the river with potential to fly fish. Or admire it from above at the complimentary propane fire pits.
I’m sure I’m forgetting a ton but we genuinely considered massively tweaking our itinerary just to hangout here for a couple extra days. Would recommend.

Unexpected Fun!
This was my first hipcamp experience. I expected a more remote location with this booking, but we were camped between the river and the highway. BUT, the RV camping area was situated above the Madison river, with beautiful views. Because the sites are pull-through, facing away from the river, it's PERFECT for those of you with a toy hauler deck off the back like we have. The sites are pretty narrow - a legacy of the RVs original design from the 1930s. (Not sure that date is exact!)
Our host (Starky) was entertaining, friendly and engagingly enthusiastic in sharing his ideas for the future. He cooked a big dinner two of the nights we were there and we had a great time sitting and talking under the starry skies.
My only complaint is that - try as I might - I could not find an address for the campsite. This may have been our error. But, our only clue was email traffic came from 'Madison River Resort.' With multiple google searches, we finally found it. PLEASE make the street address more visible. I almost added it to this review, but then realized that might be a privacy problem. :-)

Glamping
The owners are so welcoming! We have access to showers (hot water), laundry room (both free), and a microwave. The bathroom is very clean. There is a small games room. Otherwise, Madison River Resort is well located, there are so much things to do around for nature lovers.
I tried glamping and I liked to fall asleep with the relaxing sound of the river flowing by. No need to set up, the bed is comfortable and good wifi. Enlightened, relaxing, perfect for the couple who hesitate between wild camping and a hotel room.

Ein wunderschöner kleiner Platz mit super Gastgebern! Gut zu befahren, Gemeinschaftseinrichtungen ganz neu und liebevoll stilgerecht gestaltet.
Waschmaschinen und Trockner ohne Zusatzgebühr. Jetzt schon ein Schmuckstück, und weiterer Ausbau ist geplant. Gastgeber sehr hilfsbereit und am Platz anwesend. Guter Stopp um von da aus weiter zum yellowstone zu fahren. Klare Empfehlung!

We booked two sites at Madison River Resort. It was perfect. The bathrooms were clean and owners were friendly but we had our space. It was right next to the river and my children enjoyed playing in it. We visited Yellowstone during this trip and were far away enough to not feel the crowds but close enough that the drive was tolerable. Would DEFINITELY stay here again.

Wow! Sophie and Starky are great hosts. Glamping was 5 stars. The view and experience was exceptional-loved waking up to cow folk herding the cattle along river; riverside swing included. Bathroom and shower facilities, and laundry are unlike any other-clean, temperature controlled, and with essentials. Hope to visit again.

The Place Everyone Should KnowAbout
Wow. This place was just awesome. We felt at home. Owners were super personable. We ended up renting paddleboards the second day and had a blast at a nearby lake. Bathrooms were well cared for. Kids played in the river. It was just what we needed. Location-wise, far away enough from Yellowstone that we didn't feel the crowd of other visitors, but close enough to get there and back with a scenic drive to enjoy the full day.

BEST CAMPSITE EVER! We arrived planning to tent camp and were offered the option to try out their new glamping teepees. We stayed in a cozy teepee with a beautiful view of the river. It was absolute luxury, memory foam beds, super soft and warm blankets and a heater. We had a fire pit outside the teepee to sit at at night when it got chilly and the stars on a clear night were amazing. Bathrooms were what you’d expect in a hotel not a campsite, unlimited hot water, hairdryer, extra toiletries. The hosts Starkey and Sophie (and their beautiful dogs) went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and memorable and they are both so friendly and knowledgeable about the area and secret spots to visit. We we rented paddle boards for $30 for a whole day and they even let us borrow their truck to take them to the lake! We stayed 5 nights but would have stayed 5 weeks if we had time. 11/10, if you’re visiting the Yellowstone/Tetons area you won’t find better. Thank you guys so much!

We absolutely loved our time here! Great spot between Bozeman and West Yellowstone. Easy access to fishing and amazing views of the mountains. Sophie was extremely friendly and helpful! Even the bathrooms were great. We will absolutely stay again when in the area.

Above and beyond!
I can’t recommend Sophie and the Madison River Resort enough. Sophie and her husband were extremely friendly and went above and beyond their duty of camp host. We had an issue with our slide out and they offered to greet the RV tech and help us with our dog so we wouldn’t loose a day of exploring Yellowstone. I am so thankful for them and their hospitality, I highly recommend you visit their location and enjoy the beautiful scenic river. The spots are great, the showers and restrooms were clean and amazing. We even did a load of laundry before hitting the road.

The sites here on the river are beautiful. There are great views of surrounding mountains while overlooking the river. The bathrooms, showers and laundry are a huge plus. Sophie and Starkey are incredible hosts! We would stay here again in a heartbeat whenever we’re in the area.

An absolutely beautiful spot with beautiful people for hosts! The showers are so, so, so nice, clean! There are thoughtful touches everywhere, from the most lush bathmats in the world to hosts that would do anything for their guests. They have plans to make it even better. I'd go out of my way to come back.

Very accomodating and friendly front desk! The bathroom and showers were clean, with hot water, and well lit throughout the night. A lovely area close to the Yellowstone west entrance.
