PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION BEFORE BOOKING... 30 acres of mostly reclaimed farmland. We are located where Glade Creek flows into the Monocacy River. There is evidence of civil war activity here and the old river ford is on our property. Creek and river access make this a beautiful, peaceful place that is full of life. The energy here is overwhelmingly positive. Our house was built in the 1850s and the neighboring farm was built shortly after—lots of history on this property. You will be able to camp right next to Glade Creek which is always cool, clean, and refreshing. Our goal with opening the land up for camping is to eventually phase out commercial farming on the property and transform it into woodlands using native plants and trees. We've already started by planting hundreds of native tree species along the creek and river banks. Each camper gets us closer to that goal! Thanks for your support! See our map in the gallery for a complete overview of our property including site locations. Please note that you will need to drive back through the crossing to access the portable toilet. Site six is an open site with lots of breathing room. This one gets lots of morning sun but has great shade in the afternoon. It has its own path down to the river. Easy access and tons of places for tents and parking. PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION BEFORE BOOKING... 4 of the 5 sites are right next to the water. All are green and very lush. You will need a vehicle that can drive through our creek ford (decent ground clearance will suffice). Most vehicles can handle this (a Honda HRV did it with no problems). If not, you can park and walk in. Fire is allowed in the fire rings. Wood is around but we recommend bringing your own starter. Pack out all trash. Great for fishing or just relaxing outside under the stars. All spots are mowed and easy to set a tent on. Your dogs will love it! Be careful of poison ivy. No other dangers. Tons of deer and the occasional fox or wild turkey. 4 miles to historic downtown Frederick and a mile to the Walkersville Train which the kids love! Less than a mile from the Fountain Rock Nature Center. Relic hunters welcome! UPDATE - We now have a portable toilet (serviced weekly). It is behind the solar panels across the creek. Site three is located where Glade Creek flows into the Monocacy River. It is a smaller site tucked back behind a grove of new Sycamore trees. It can accommodate one tent and one vehicle. It's a great little site with an amazing view of the river, and a very short walk down to it. In the late summer, there is a large patch of sunchoke with beautiful yellow flowers right next to this site.

This site is very popular with campers who have dogs and little kids. It is set right next to Glade Creek where kids and dogs walk down to play in the shallow water. Dogs love drinking from this fresh water and kids love to play in the rocky beaches on this creek. It can accommodate two tents and two vehicles. It's not far from the river either. We've recently expanded this site to make room for additional tents and vehicles.

Site one is closest to the entrance and far from other campers. It's on a small hill with a fire pit under a large pear tree. This site can accommodate 2 or 3 tents easily and is within close walking distance to the creek and a slightly longer walk to the river. Also has plenty of parking. Had a fantastic time doing some hot tent camping! Have to do a little off roading to get to the site, but that made it all the better! Great host and a great spot. Will be back again!

Easy to find site but definitely have an off road capable vehicle to cross the stream. Low slung sedans won't make it Camp site was clean, flat, and private. Only major criticism is easier access to the Porta John. You need to drive back across the stream to get to it as the sewer pipe cannot be used to walk across. Driving out isn't always a option with tents in the way. My other personal opinion is the fire ring could be bigger. Seemed too small for such a large site

Had a great time tent camping here! The site was the perfect size and nicely situated next to the creek and away from other sites. We had a little trouble finding our way to the site but we were in the dark 😅 had no trouble crossing the river and the area felt very safe. Would recommend!

Overall, this was a great camping spot — beautiful views and an easy walk to the river. The only downsides were that it could’ve been cleaned up a bit more (some faded signs and a little trash here and there), and our site was closer to the road than expected, so there was some traffic noise. And while not the campground’s fault, there were so many spiders! That said, I’d still be more than likely to come back — no place is perfect, and that’s part of the camping experience!

Lovely spot with easy access to the site (beware you must have a vehicle with ample clearance for a stream crossing) and river access just over a small hill from the camp area. Note: you cannot see the river from the camp site. And if you are wanting a very quiet experience think again because there is a continuous hum of traffic from Route 15, day and night. There is a nice circular walking path if you want to take a stroll around the fields. For something close to Baltimore it's a good option.

My son’s first time camping and I have been waiting until he was old enough to take him and teach him all I learned at his age. This was amazing! Excellent site, plenty of room, stocked some firewood for us to get started, and just generally an amazing first camp with my boy. Not too far away either, and was just a cool site right by the river. Couldn’t be better and Will never forget this site!

Outside of a few pieces of trash in the woods surrounding the campsite, it was a really lovely spot. The location near the Monocacy River and so close to Frederick was great. Unfortunately, we decided to leave around 7 p.m. and not spend the night because there was a very unpleasant odor at the campsite (possibly from the river, so it may not always be that way). If it hadn’t smelled, it would have been an awesome place to stay!

My group of 4 loved Site 5! There was so much space, had its own trail to the creek, and was pretty easy to find. I was surprised that we had to drive through a shallow creek to get there but it wasn’t a problem! We went on a hike in Fredrick Municipal Forest (~25 min away) where there are plenty of trails. We went mid-october and the foliage was scenic. Overall a great trip, a great location, and site! Thank you!

We had a great camping experience! Site 3 was private and well covered by trees which blocked some light rain. Great for dogs! Everything was as described. There is a small farm stand close to the property that sells fire wood.

This is a pretty solid spot if you’re looking for something close to Frederick. The spots are well spaced out, every spot was full the night we were there and we barely ever heard anyone else. There’s some road noise from the highway down the river, but it’s not too bad. Really do need ground clearance to drive out to the spots, have to go through a creek and through some ruts in the path initially, but not too bad.

Camping at site 5 was great. Felt very secluded and was a decently large site. Being just up the hill from the river was a nice touch as well. Directions to the site were easy to follow. The road noise was a little louder than what I was expecting but it wasn't horrible. What we didn't like was in the middle of the night, there were a couple people walking down the driving path talking very loudly which woke us up. Then a few minutes later we heard a bunch of teenagers yelling/screaming making a bunch of noise like they were playing a game. That's all fine and dandy but not very considerate for others staying on the property, especially being in the middle of the night when I'm sure most people are trying to rest. Not the owners fault by any means and I would not let that deter you from choosing this place as it was still very nice. There will always be inconsiderate campers everywhere you go, unfortunately. I would definitely come back and highly recommend.

Nice spot by the river, not near other sites, quiet and clean. Would recommend, but something’s to note, there is a fairly well used road across the river from the site so you will hear car traffic, and you do really need a high-clearance car to get across the creek from the owner’s farm to the site, especially after some rain, it’s too far to walk with your stuff if you have more than one trip. So again would recommend but wanted to make people aware of this.

Pretty easy to find the campsite with the map that was provided. Loved the privacy and being close to the river. A little tough to get to the one porta-potty unless you have a vehicle to cross the creek.

We had a great time camping down by the river on Jon-Mikel's farm. The property grounds were well kept and maintained a peaceful atmosphere. Having town close by ended up being a lifesaver for some emergency supplies. The ability to let our puppers roam free was also amazing. We couldn't of asked for a better time. See you again soon!

Site Five - Ellie's Favorite
We stayed at Ellie's Favorite, campsite 5, and had a great time. There was plenty of room for our car, three tents (and maybe even a couple more, as well as for us to spread out. A few things to note: there are no picnic tables and the ground is dirt, so you will definitely want to bring chairs and a table of your own. The river is just a very short walk away and was low enough to set our chairs in and enjoy the scenery. We saw some other campers fishing up stream. The entire farm is beautiful, and we took multiple walks around the fields. Note that while the campsites are far enough away that you can't see each other and won't overlap much, we did hear children playing/screaming and music from another campsite. Also, the site is very close to a major highway so you will hear the buzz of traffic throughout the day/night.

It was a nice tucked away spot! There is river access but it is not a flat entry but still easy enough. Our dog had a blast swimming all over and exploring the river side, fishing wasn’t to shabby and getting to and from the site was very straight forward and easy!

This was my second time at this HipCamp! I was at the smaller site the first time, and Budrow Wilson this time around. It was perfect. Spacious, flat, and quiet. Will definitely be back!!
