Mulehalla

The grounds were beautiful, site was well kept, and the owner was extremely polite and agreeable. Only thing I had that was only a temporary nuisance was site 11's proximity to their event center. Couldn't hear much of the people during whatever event was going on, but there was a period where a couple of fellas had to let everyone know that their cars were in fact really loud when they pumped on the gas. And they did, for about 15 minutes. Like I said, a minor nuisance for me as I was camping solo. But something to consider if you are camping family style with a toddler that needs some quiet for those naps. Wonderful campground though and I will happily book again!

Perfect for paddlers on the Potomac

Pros: so peaceful! We never saw or heard another person throughout our stay from 7pm until 11am the following day. Loved that we were able to scavenge for wood and build a fire. Bathrooms were nearby, clean and free. Cons: no source of drinking water. It was a little strange pulling up to the front gate, which was a bungy cord across the road that had to be opened and closed by us. Honor system! But we got used to it

I car camped overnight in a nicely secluded spot (#11), which had a fire pit and a picnic table. I was just passing through, so I did not stay long, but the grounds were well kept and it seemed to be a lovely place.

I loved how peaceful the whole site was. Site 11 is off the path from the other sites, so if you want to see more people, those would be better. I had friends bail last minute so I wound up having the whole site to myself. I set my tent up near the picnic table to keep everything together. I would definitely stay here again at site 11

I had a lovely time car camping at Mulehalla, it was a peaceful site and spacious/private. Very nice to have a flushing toilet and sink on the premises, as well as firewood for sale at a reasonable rate. This is a great spot for group trips, and I plan to return again soon!

The only reason I wouldn’t recommend this place is because I wanted to keep this wonderful secret place to myself. It’s beautiful, site 11 has a lot of privacy and prefect for gatherings. This facility has a bathroom available with hot and cold water. It’s right near the Potomac river, which is great during the summer. My son had a blast in the creek nearby and it was beautiful scenery. Loved this little secret spot!!! I will be back.

Biker's Den/ AC-hot showers

Excellent easy camping! Hands down the best spot is #11 if you want to be separated from the other spots. Though all of them are very well spaced for privacy! Took my sister on her first camping trip here. Bonus: Mulehalla has a bunch of games and throwables at the main cabin, so you definitely won’t find yourself bored with any spare downtime.

Photos don’t do it justice!

The pictures for the biker’s den don’t do the space justice. Such a wonderful time. The hosts are gracious and accommodating. If I find myself in western MD again I’ll be sure to book my weekend here.

I loved the place! Just keep in mind that sites 1 through 4 are very close to each other. My friend and I rented sites 1 and 2, and luckily the other sites were empty, so we basically had the whole area to ourselves. There’s no river directly in front of the campsites, but if you walk about 4 minutes, you can reach the Potomac River. It’s more of a nice trail walk to the river. I didn’t really find a spot where you could fully lay down, leave your stuff, and get in the water comfortably, but the scenery was gorgeous. The host was very kind, and I highly recommend this place. In the mornings, you can really appreciate the sounds of birds and nature.

Site 7 - Mulehalla on the Potomac River

Our stay at Mulehalla was great! Site 10 is even bigger than we expected. It's tucked back away from the other sites so has some privacy. The host was very responsive when we had a couple questions, even though we arrived late. Our dog loved exploring the campground and walking by the C&O.

Kevin is an awesome dude to talk to, and a highly flexible host. He took an extra careful look at the details of our reservation and suggested a change of campsite based on our proximity to other guests. Then, when things on site were different than what he had proposed and we set up camp in a different third spot, he showed up the next day and said "that's exactly what I would have suggested, so I'm glad you did it." The site itself is beautiful, and the location is both out of the way and convenient to nearby amenities. We had a great stay. Thanks Kevin!

Site 6 - Mulehalla on the Potomac River

Mulehalla was a really nice campground. The hosts welcomed me upon arrival and gave me the orientation. We camped at site #6 which had a tent pad, stone fire ring and additional space for another tent. It was a little difficult finding the site since there isn't a clear drive lane, but I liked that. Some of the sites are really close to each other and we had another group across from our site. But we had the entire camp ground to ourselves the second night. Port-a-john was really clean. Bring your own potable water.

This campsite was perfect for us! Tucked away behind a quiet neighborhood, the campground was easy to find, spacious and beautiful and we found the host to be very responsive. Our site (#11) was tucked away in a lane of grass between two tree lines in a space that looks to be used or have been used for disc golf. This late in the season we only had one group somewhat near us and we didn’t hear them despite the relative proximity. We were a quick walk away from the restroom which was very convenient and woke to the pleasant sounds of birds rustling and calling in the trees above us. We were able to locate and purchase wood for a campfire with ease and enjoyed a nice fire on our second evening. The campground is located near an excellent coffee shop (River Bottom Roasters) and there are many great hikes, shops and restaurants within driving distance.

Not what I was expecting..

The campsite was fine, but very disappointing to find out there were only cold showers. When it's in the 40's outside the last thing you want to do is get a cold shower. Site is near a neighborhood where the neighbors let their dogs bark excessively starting early in the morning for hours on end, so don't plan on sleeping past 7 ish.

Site 7 - Mulehalla on the Potomac River

It was getting dark and we were desperate for a place to camp. When we arrived I procured a site on the app Set up the tent and went to sleep. It wasn't until the next morning we discovered what an epic gem this place actually is. There is more than adequate space between HUGE camping sites. There is disc golf, outdoor volleyball, a large lodge (not accessible at the time, nice restrooms with showers. Would be a perfect spot for a family reunion or holiday party. This place is beautiful!

Host was amazing, checked up and made sure we had everything. He also told us about nice spots to hang and fish at overall the place is amazing. We also heard a pack of coyotes roaming around making noises at night.
