Excellent 2-Night Stay in Oct 2022
Chris was super responsive and accommodating. He’s an excellent host. The location was exactly as advertised. Of note, sites 1 and 2 are great if you want to stay close to your vehicle. Sites 3 (w/kayak) 4, and 5 are all slightly different and a short walk away. I would ask Chris for advice depending on your needs. Sites 3, 4, and 5 are about the same walking distance from where you park - two minutes or less.
The platform is a great idea (one at each site) and helped me keep things dry during an unexpected downpour. Overall, great location and great experience!

Private and beautiful site on the w
Our site was private and clean with a beautiful view of the lake. Everything was exactly as specified in the booking, and we were extremely pleased. There's lots of hiking, a beautiful swimming beach just five minutes away, and several little stores to get necessities.
Chris was excellent about communication, which was fantastic. I would certainly recommend this to anyone looking for a private place to camp in the Carabasset Valley.

Fabulous lake view
Very secluded tent site #5 right on the lake with beautiful views of the lake & the Bigelow Mtns. The tree canopy kept us cool and sheltered from heavy rain. The host, Chris, provided excellent directions, access to fresh water, and very comfortable camp chairs. He greeted us upon arrival and was most kind. We were able to paddle our canoe from the tent site to enjoy many varieties of water birds and convoluted shorelines.

Site 2 - Tent camping on lake
We had two peaceful nights in Chris's land. The lake is beautiful and the setting is very private. The path along the lake was short but beautiful and provided great views of the lak from different vantage points. The site was perfectly appointed, and Chris was a great communicator and very easy to work with. Check it out if you're in the area. Lots of hiking, boating, and exploring in the area! Oh, and the sandy public beach is just a short drive away if you want to take a swim!

Chris was super accommodating, sites were great with a fire pit, tent platform, outhouse tent. He met us upon arrival and gave us the lay of the land, and even provided a table. Location is great - sites are on the lake, mt bigelow trails are 15 minutes away, sites are right next to town.

Serene little spot!
Great host, came down after arrival and checked in and gave us a lay of the land. Was responsive and accommodating. Used a rooftop tent on my truck, and there was a great little driveway to pull down to get to the spot. There was a pile of dry wood which we made great use of for a fire to keep the bugs away. Would definitely recommend as this came in handy as a last minute option!

Chris was a friendly and helpful host. The site was easy to find and very clean. We rented a canoe at the general store down the street and were able to paddle it over to the site. Chris had great recommendations for nearby beaches.

We had a great stay on the lake. Everything was as described. Chris met us at check in and was very helpful with suggestions. Site 5 is secluded and offers a great view of the lake. We loved hearing the loon at night. A great place to relax for a night, although we could have stayed longer. Thanks Chris!

Well-kepts site, great location
This was a beautiful campsite with easy access to the water. Platforms were in good shape and a table and camp chairs was a nice touch. Loons sang us to sleep at night and we saw a variety of water birds along the lake. Chris was easy to communicate with and was a great host!

Beautiful site, great location
We had a great stay at this site! It was private with really lovely views. The platform was great, and it was so nice to have a little table and two camp chairs available for us to use. We heard loons and owls at night, and saw a bald eagle. Didn't take advantage of the (single) kayak Chris made available to us, but it's a lovely place to paddle around. The site is a short walk from the parking area, so if you're car camping pack accordingly!

Chris was extremely friendly and helpful! The site was really nice with a lot of useful things provided, including a table and fire pit and some wood to use. Fishing was great as was the wildlife viewing - there was a family of loons, bald eagles, kingfishers and more. We enjoyed our stay a lot!

Best campsite we’ve been to!
Such a beautiful camp site!!! Chris (the host) was very personable and welcoming! He helped us with a few things and made our stay very nice! I highly recommend renting sites from him! The lake was amazing with beautiful views of sugarloaf mountain!

Site 1 - Tent camping on lake
Awesome place!
This was the first camp site I wanted to relax and hang out for breakfast and dinner. I had spent a week of hiking and biking in Boothbay and Acadia, staying at 3 different Hipcamp sites. Chris was great; kind and welcoming. He shared knowledge of the area, things to do and great local finds. He’s built cool, twisty trails that lead to the platform camp sites with creative sights along the way, the primitive shelter and boat dock! Chris told me about native wildlife and the sound of Bittern, nesting in the marsh grass. The next morning having breakfast I saw a Bittern land in the grass right across from platform where I was sitting, it was beautiful!
I intended to set up a tent but with rain in the forecast I stayed in the van both nights. There’s so much to do in the Eustis, Stratton and Carrabassett region, I can’t wait to come back and stay here on the lake!

Best kept secret
I truly enjoyed my stay at this hip camp. The environment and view was perfect. We were able to watch birds and ducks while tenting on the lake. Beautiful! All tent platforms are on the lake, but for three of them you need to walk into. But you get the enjoyment of the wooded area as well as the lake, so it's worth the super short walk. The sites we're super clean and had all of the amenities listed on the site. The host was awesome! Super kind and accommodating and generous. He even took us for a boat ride on the lake one of the mornings! Certainly not your typical hip camp. I would highly recommend staying here. Lake access as well as access to many 4,000 footers, if you are into peak bagging. A market which is well stocked is right around the corner. I will definitely be going back! Thanks Chris for a magnificent experience!

Great Lakeside Stay!
We found Chris’ place last minute when the public sites we were planning on were full, and are so glad we did! Super easy communication, beautiful lakeside sites, and a host who provided everything we needed from wood to camping chairs. Would absolutely stay again!

This is a must stay! We stayed at site 3. It was private and right on the water. Everything is in great condition and well- kept. Chris was so accommodating and helpful. He gave us awesome local food recommendations that we went with. This hipcamp is unique, set in a quirky town with amazing views of the bigelows. We WILL be back!

Stay and play in the woods of maine
What a cool spot!!! The sun set across the lake with the mountains was breath taking. Chris is an awesome host. He was very helpful with his local knowledge of the lake and places to explore. Some of the best fly fishing waters in the state just a short drive away. Can't wait to go back. Thanks Chris!!!

Beautiful lake camping
The camp grounds here are great! There are several, spread out sites, all with excellent tree coverage, decks, and lake views! Chris was super friendly and helpful! He provided a table, chairs, and a portable toilet. Come check it out!
