Semi rustic for outdoor adventure enthusiast. Located on the gorgeous Earthjoy tree Adventures, our skoolie (converted tiny house) features a secluded piece of heaven. Fenced in yard for worry free time with dogs and kids. Queen bed, kids loft, & couch for 2 adults and 2 kids under 12 Running water, refrigerator Kitchen with stove & sink. Outdoor shower & Camp toilet. Fire pit & Old time tobacco barn picnic area attached. 285 acres of exploring. For those wanting an “off-the-grid nature experience” Best for two adults and two kids under 12 this is a BUS, be aware for height considerations. not suitable for tall people unless you are adaptable. Please note that it is also in a TOBACCO BARN it smells like old wood (most people love this) there is also a dirt floor in the tobacco barn, leading to some dust. if this is something that will bother you we don't recommend the Schoolie. Well heated and cozy! The schoolie is situated at the entry of Earthjoy. Parked 1/2 way inside a Kentucky tobacco barn. This will be your home base as you explore the 200 acres of trails. Experience tiny home living in a full size renovated school bus. This is truly an outdoor experience. You’ll enjoy the 285 acres (see map in photos) and you can also book a tree climb, hike the heart trail and the hobbit treehouse trail, Jacobs Ladders trail where you bring a chime and hang it in memory of a loss. Play corn hole, build a fire, Kids fish pond, go on a scavenger hunt to find the five ponds, explore an abandoned 1800s settlers log cabin, and wade and play in several cool creeks! ( Weather dependent) Our favorite place to visit is downtown AugustaKy.com. Augusta is hometown to George Clooney. Visit his mom’s antique shop Nina’s. Eat at the Irish Pub. Get an ice cream for desert next to pizza place. Walk along the Ohio River and check out the historical homes or take a Ferry ride. Maysville Kentucky is another favorite. City of Maysville.com. Eat at DeShas or visit downtown Maysville

We had such an amazing experience staying in the treehouse. The children loved the slide on the balcony and the giant net hammock. The treehouse is well-equipped with electrical lights, fans, outlets, a space heater, and an A/C window unit. There are several miles of hiking trails to explore on the property, and we enjoyed crossing the net bridge and seeing the ruins of the 19th-century settler's cabin. Everything looked just like the pictures, and my kids were so sad to leave--they said they want to live there forever!

Perfect place for kids (5 and 4). They loved the treehouse. I appreciated all the whimsical things on the property: we hiked the hobbit trail, played in camp creek for hours, crossed it on the rope bridge, swung on all sorts of swings, brushed wind chimes, and knocked out most of the scavenger hunt.

Enchanted Magical Aliyah TREEHOUSE
Staying in a tree house has always been a dream of mine, and this one was fabulous. The house was great as was the area surrounding: fire pit, hammock and swing. We spent many hours on the trails and especially enjoyed Jacob's Ladder trail. There was peace of mind knowing the whole property was fenced in. We felt very safe and our dog loved walking the trails off leash with us. Bad weather rolled in our last night, and Shelly was very communicative, making sure we were aware of the watches and warnings, and giving options for where to head if we felt we were in danger.

What an amazing experience!! They thought of everything from inside the treehouse to out on the trails. Myself, My dog and 7 year old son all had the best time. Shelly was so sweet and checked in but didn’t hover. It was a secluded weekend we needed with lots to keep us occupied. We will definitely be back!!

Staying in the treehouse was perfect for my little family. My husband and I were unsure about taking our 9 month old camping so this was the perfect in between. We loved getting outdoors in the cool fall weather and having a cozy spot to come back to. The loft fit her pack n play perfectly.

Our family much enjoyed our get away to Hickory treehouse and the Earthjoy Village grounds. Shelly was very communicative, we found the place with no problems. Grounds were marked. Had a great time meandering through the many trails (& creeks), will have to come back as we didn't get to them all, plus would love to visit the other treehouses. Trails were a great place for foraging, enjoyed munching on the wild onions this time of year. Looked like quite a few brambles too. Highly recommend the climbing course as this was the highlight of my trip (do try repelling Spiderman style!). Even our boys ages 5 and 7 had a good time with it. Kids also loved the slide, swing and hammocks attached to Hickory treehouse. We mostly used the composting toilet (no smell/ was clean), but your personal restroom not far for a shower. Chatting with Shelly and the climbing staff was a joy. These are people that care deeply for the earth and taking care of it and wanting to share their very special place with others. So glad they have. If you're up for an adventure, the camping type and not afraid of finding stink bugs dwelling with you, this is the place for you.

This experience was amazing. We really enjoyed hiking in the snow and coming back to a warm, insulated treehouse. My trip consisted of two adults and two childen and the Pete Nelson accomodations fit us perfectly.

It was an overall wonderful experience staying at this property. The owner called and spoke with me a couple of days before our trip to tell us a bit more about our stay and was willing to answer any questions I might have had. I love the personal touch! The treehouse was quaint (but perfect for our family of four) and had everything we needed for our stay. We really enjoyed the treehouse's amenities, especially the kid's slide and swing! The property was beautiful and so nice to hike & enjoy nature!

Our stay at Old Hickory was outstanding! The pictures on the website were true to life, it was like a stay in a magazine photo shoot! I would easily take my family back and recommend any of my friends spend time here!

Spectacular treehouse in a magical setting. The hiking trails with hidden treasures along the way were fun for the whole family! The climbing experience with Bill was incredible. Close to Augusta snd Maysville, two of the cutest river towns. The Beehive Tavern was a perfect dininf experience overlooking the Ohio River in Augusta. A perfect escape!!

Absolute relaxation in the trees. We put the grill to good use each night! Only possibilities for improvements would be running water (cold only, even) and a small dorm/hotel type refrigerator, but since we camp often, these would make it glamping!

Our treehouse experience was incredible. Our treehouse was a kid’s fantasy with a loft and wooden bridge. The trails were a blast to follow and enjoy nature and make up fun stories about the hobbits inhabiting the houses we found. The hammocks were very relaxing. And we had a great time sitting around the fire in the evening. An absolute amazing family experience - we plan to return!!

I booked this last minute the night before while looking for a nice place to be the last stop of my road trip. Though my stay was short, after a long day of driving it was nice to be able to go and hike some of the trails and stretch the legs. The tree house itself was great. It was very nice and clean inside. Shelly was great and got in touch with all the information I needed right away. Wish I could have stayed longer.

Our family had a fantastic time during our treehouse adventure. We only stayed one night, but we would have loved to have stayed longer. We were amazed at the beautiful trails and all the fun spots to stop along the way. This place is just incredible!
