Missile Silo Adventure Camping
We loved our camping weekend with our rooftop tent in such a beautiful scenic area. Quiet, peaceful, and unbelievable view of the night sky.
The silo tour is highly recommended and we enjoyed seeing the underground complexes and learning of its history as well as Matthew’s vision
of it’s future. The wind farm back drop and shaded tree grove made it perfect.
The town of Wilson just a few miles was very convenient and Wilson lake just a short drive was fun to go fishing and kick around.

Way to go on a silo tour. The silo tour sort of felt like an obligation, rather than an option. But what’s $25 extra dollars to support someone’s dream? Matthew was pleasant and enthusiastic.

Atlas Ad Astra missile silo camp
We tent camped at Matt’s missile silo. It was a great experience overall. Easy enough to find, Matt greeted us upon arrival. The tour was well worth it if you are into history and learning how the property functioned in its military days. Matt is passionate about improving his property and has so many great ideas. His dedication to making it happen is inspiring. Our campsite was a level sand area, tucked behind some trees for privacy. It also had sturdy in-ground tie down rings to stake/support the tent corners. We had owls visit in the early morning hours, as well as a beautiful view of the rolling plains and the giant windmills from inside of our tent. Matt had a cart for us to easily move our stuff from parking area to the tent site.

Worlds Largest Czech Egg is nearby in the town of Wilson. You can’t miss it!

We stayed two days and enjoyed it. Also, did the tour with Matthew. Well worth the added costs. It is a great place and enjoyed walking around and the stars were amazing.

Best overnight camping experience so far for us!!! Very interesting tour of the missile site and projected improvements, very skilled and knowledgeable owner/operator Matthew. Lovely property which we walked at length in the cool morning air. There are great plans taking place and we’ll definitely return in the future to see them developing. Thanks Matthew!!!

Great stay with fascinating history
Loved it. Property was well kept and Matthew picked out a great spot for us to set up our tent. Very personable hosts. They let us use their grill to make up dinner and lots of spots to enjoy. Missile Silo tour was great as well! Fascinating to hear their plans for the property, I’d love to see it come to fruition. We stayed with our young children and felt comfortable the entire time.

An incredible place to camp, even without getting to tour a decommissioned, Cold War-era silo. Matthew and his wife are wonderful hosts who have made this site one of the most comfortable places I’ve camped. The views are breathtaking. I could easily have spent another night or two!

Great experience!
Matt was a very very gracious host - he was giving a tour when my friend and I arrived with our dogs so his wife greeted us, showed us where to park, and recommended nearby walking trails. It had rained a few days earlier so it was a bit buggy but we were able to park in an area with good wind flow so they weren't too bad. In the morning we took the dogs to a nearby lake to swim and came back in time for a tour with Matt. He has a lot of knowledge about the past and ideas for future development - very worth it! Such a great stop. 10/10 recommend :)

Beautiful views! Gorgeous sunset. We only got to stay one night, but we really loved waking up to the wind farm.
Use google maps! But Matthew is a very nice and communicative host if other directions get you lost. I love his vision for the property. Worth a tour for sure.

Missile Silo Adventure Camping
The Missile Silo is absolutely amazing! We weren’t able to stay to camp (for our own reasons) but we were still able to see the property (beautiful views, birds singing- very lovely) and tour the missile silo.
The tour was incredible. What an experience to go underground and learn about the missile/life underground as well as the host’s future plans. We were blown away - it was so interesting and Matthew and Leigh Ann were so kind to answer all our questions. (They know so much!)
We loved chatting with them and can’t wait to come back and camp another time :)

Highly recommend! So unique and fun
This place is so cool! And welcoming, convenient and safe. The grounds (whilst still a work in progress) are beautiful and clean, Matthew is warm, friendly and beyond informative and the missle silo is very unique and interesting! Very conveniently off 70 for those quick stays but also has Lake Wilson nearby for hikes, bikes and water adventures. I would strongly recommend and plan to come back to see how Matthew evolves and develops the property and experience!

Missile Silo Adventure Camping
Our family greatly enjoyed the stay at the missile silo. The views and sunsets are fantastic. The tour of the silo was very interesting and the host is very knowledgeable about the subject matter. His vision for the future development of the silo is inspiring and infectious. All the adults in the family were just about ready to quit our jobs and join him! :) The host was also helpful recommending places to eat in the area.
We were all very charmed by Wilson and the surrounding towns. We enjoyed eating at the local restaurants almost as much as the camping. Wilson lake is a beauty. I couldn't get over how clean everything is in this area. The locals seem to take great pride in their community.
