Laid-back, quiet, nearly-wild camping in prime position near Weymouth, Dorset.

Pick your own pitch in this spacious Dorset campsite, where campers can cycle directly into Weymouth and explore the Jurassic Coast to their heart’s content. Set on six acres of level grassland, Wobble’s Camping has around 100 pitches, well spread out and enviably close to some of Dorset’s finest beaches, with Portland and Chesil Beach all nearby.

Located close to the quiet town of Chickerell, a link road connects the pop-up site to Weymouth’s bustling town centre and popular beach, making it one of the best-positioned campsites of its kind in the area. Restaurants, fish and chips, an evening pint, a bit of atmosphere... it's all within reach. Cyclists and walkers alike will love the level two-mile route leading them directly into the heart of town, while, in the opposite direction, public footpaths quickly link up with the South West Coast Path, running along beside the Fleet that backs Chesil Beach.

Wobble's is distinctly no-frills but all your essentials are accounted for, including flushable toilets and hot showers. You also won’t have to worry about foraging for breakfast, as a well-priced food van pulls up to the site on weekends. A supermarket is also within walking distance, so you can grab some supplies and cook dinner around one of the dedicated barbecue pits around the site.

Given that visitors pick their own pitch, you can expect plenty of room for you and your loved ones, and well-behaved dogs are also welcome. Relaxed and informal, you won't have to worry about your neighbouring campers, as large non-family groups aren't permitted. It all makes for an easy, simple stay in unforgettable surroundings – exactly what a campsite should provide.

Our campsite is CLOSED for 2024, thank you Wobble's Camping is a pop-up campsite close to Weymouth and is set in over 6 acres of level grassland. Wobble's Camping is a relaxed and informal site, and we welcome families, children, and couples. Dogs are also welcome but must always be kept on leads and under control on the site. We operate a pitch-where-you-like camping so you can pick your favourite spot and set up camp. There are over 100 undesignated grass pitches available on the site and we are flexible about size of each pitch and can accommodate most requests. As there are no marked pitches, when making a booking we have estimated a single pitch for 1 large tent and 1 average car. If you have more than one car you can still park on the site at £5.00 per 24 hours. Facilities are minimal. We have temporary showers and toilets along with water stand taps. There are several specific built BBQ pits. Wobble's campsite is ideally situated on the Jurassic Coast giving easy access to explore the beautiful Dorset countryside, coastline, and villages. Situated on the Chickerell link road approximately 2 miles level walk, cycle or drive from Weymouth town centre and the fabulous seafront and beach. There is a bus stop approximately 800 metres from our entrance which serves Weymouth town centre, or you can travel along the Jurassic Coast to towns like Bridport and West Bay. There is an abundance of public footpaths, coastal and countryside walks. A supermarket and takeaway establishments are within 400 metres of our site with 2 golf courses within a mile.
Nearby attractions

It's less than a 10-minute drive and 20-minute cycle to get to Weymouth's seafront and explore the picturesque seaside town. A hub of shops, cafes, pubs, and restaurants, its beach is quintessentially British – think donkey rides, sand sculptures, and Punch 'n' Judy shows – while its thriving town provides plenty to do. Venture across the famous Weymouth Town Bridge and explore its harbour, lined with independent shops and places to stop for a bite to eat. From here you can also head on up to Nothe Fort, which provides a dramatic panoramic view of the Jurassic Coast. Portland is also less than a 20-minute drive away, where you can visit the Portland Bill Lighthouse that's guided vessels along the English Channel for nearly three centuries.

Food and drink

Café Monet is located in Bennetts Water Gardens, serving lunch and some delicious homemade cakes with beautiful views of the lake. It's dog-friendly, too, so bring your pooch before exploring the gardens. The Crab House Cafe is a 10-minute drive on the way to Portland, a real must-visit if you're in the area – enjoy fresh oysters picked straight from the water while overlooking Chesil beach. If you're visiting Weymouth's town centre, head on over the Town Bridge to Driftwood, a pizzeria that provides picturesque views of the harbour along with some excellent coffee. If you're more in the mood for a hidden gem, the Chatsworth Hotel is located on the other side of the harbour, providing some sizeable portions of seafood.
