Martin was a great host! Welcomed us upon arrival and was very relaxed about where we could pitch up. The campsite is a hidden gem! Peaceful location. Perfect for our festival weekend in Chelmsford! Campsite has many toilets and heated showers. Would stay here again!

Great camping experience. Martin is very helpful and easy to communicate with.
Site itself was clean and neat. Shower and toilet kept well.
Beautiful views, nice large pitches and children friendly.
Good sign posting and Martin welcomed us on arrival

The person who met us was pleasant even though I was a little late and had to get my partner to ring to let him know ( this camp was necessary due to my job).
However, the reviews of clean toilets and showers in a trailer proved to be not applicable. It was a wooden shed with toilet without a light and not so clean shower with not so so hot water.

Another fantastic stay on the site, Martin was lovely as always! He was incredibly accommodating for the get-together planned for the trip and even offered us a more personal pitch for us to set up. We'll be coming back whenever we can!

Our little camp out here was so lovely, really peaceful! Martin welcomed us and came up to check on us to see if we had settled well, as well as offering firewood for the evening. We’d definitely love to come back :)

The Meadow at Waples Mill is a beautiful and serene campsite in a tranquil atmosphere. However, our experience was overshadowed by serious safety concerns regarding dogs on site.
Despite being advertised as a pet-free campsite, the owner’s dog was on the premises and behaved aggressively towards multiple campers, including us. The dog approached us off-leash, barking, growling and ready to attack, which left us frightened and uncomfortable. When we raised our concerns, the owner's partner merely laughed it off, calling the dog “silly,” and made no effort to restrain the animal or address the issue seriously.
To make matters worse, the pitch next to ours also had a dog, in clear violation of the no-pet policy. This lack of rule enforcement and disregard for guest safety is unacceptable.
The owners failed to offer a sincere apology or take accountability for the incident, despite the evident distress among multiple campers. We left the campsite immediately due to this unsettling experience.
While the setting is lovely, the dangerous presence of the owner's dog means we cannot recommend The Meadow at Waples Mill.

My and my partner had a lovely time there. Martin and his wife (and the two doggo’s) are lovely. The grounds are beautiful and couldn’t fault it. Clean toilet and shower, Wood provided for a fire. I’d recommend. Thank you martin for having us!

This was our second time at Waples Mill campsite (the first time we cycled, this time we trekked). It’s beautiful area on the edge of the field and by a little stream, so feels nice and remote. Martin supplies fire pits and wood you can chop yourself. The toilet block is simple with water and shower. Great stay.

We had a lovely time camping on Martin's land, it has beautiful surroundings and has everything you need! Martin was very friendly and welcoming and the fire pits are also a great touch!

I rally enjoy my time away on The Meadow. Martin was extremely helpful and checked in regularly to ensure everything was going smooth. Had a great walk in the evening; likewise the fire pits are bonus to make memories with s’mores. Would recommend

Martin is a great host. He checked us at 10pm if we’re all OK and again in the morning to greet. As bike packers from London and our first time to camp out, we were not disapointed. The campsite is great. Clean toilet and shower. Plenty of space to be close to the nature. Nice river along the campsite. Overall rating, very good.

Beautiful setting and lovely helpful host. We visited during the Easter weekend with two young children and there is a lovely river with flowering fields ro wander through and explore. The host was responsive with messages previous to the visit and brought us fresh, dry fire wood. All in all, lovely experience and would 100% recommend for a relaxing and rustic camping experience.

The smooth and green pitches on farmer Ritchie's Meadow are huge and look out over a field of barley with an abundance of wild flowers (he can't bear the thought of spraying weed killers on what is to be our food). The site was very quiet (we were the only guests save some weekend campers). The sanitary facilities are basic and need a bit of minor repair at the end of the season. The luxury of camping at The Meadow lies in the spaciousness and the view, not in the toilets: just the way we like it. The host is very friendly and helpful.

Nice open pitches with free firewood and firepits provided. It was very peaceful and pleasant, nice field views. Owner stopped by to say hello and was very facilitating. On site showers too for those that want to freshen up. Will definitely visit again.
