Non Electric Pitches
NOT a pleasant campsite
I hate writing bad reviews but felt compelled to do so on this occasion.
The whole experience was horrendous and I would not want anyone else to go through the same stress as I did.
The positive reviews I read before booking I can only assume were fake.
VERY noisy campsite - busy trainline only a few metres away, planes overhead and heavy traffic noise throughout the day and night. Constant noise!!
NOT a suitable location for a campsite in my opinion.
Toilet block - stained toilet bowls, smelly and dingy.
Scary huge dog which kept walking over to our camping space completely unsupervised - sniffing around. I had to walk him back to the campsite owners house on several occasions. Couldn’t find the owner so I shut the gate to stop dog coming out again.
Beautiful river but frequented by many joggers, dog walkers, etc - so not particularly peaceful.
Campsite looked like a scrapyard - mess everywhere!
Creepy comments from owner which I didn’t appreciate - suggesting he brings the soap if I wash in the river as they have no showers.
The campsite was flat which was a positive.
And empty - sort of positive - but I now know why!
We left after one night even though we had booked four nights.
I am very disappointed that this campsite was recommended by Hipcamp and I had trusted that it would be a relaxing camping experience.
I will be much more careful in future.

Me and some friends loved tent camping on the site. The toilets were clean and maintained and the owner was very friendly and Co operative. We stayed for one night and would definitely go again.

We stayed for a spontaneous one night camp after swimming some of the river Itchen. This camp spot was perfect for that. Loads of room and with a gate to the River right on the doorstep (which our dog loved!) Colin was even kind enough to lend us some pots and pans when we forgot ours! 🤦🏻♀️
