Rustic-chic glamping pods near the sandy beaches of the Northumberland Coast
Doxford Farm Camping is located on a family-run working farm in Northumberland, within reach of the coast and some of the region's best sandy beaches. Owned by husband-and-wife team Katryna and John, the pair wanted to create a site that allowed visitors to experience the best the historic county has to offer with their loved ones, be that couples seeking a romantic getaway or families out for an adventure. Doxford ticks that box and then some, with its glamping pods providing that warm, rustic rural feeling and its bell tents situated in unspoilt countryside, both allowing access to miles of woodland walks and sunny days by the sea.
There are a variety of options here to suit most varieties of camper and glamper. Doxford's premium offering is its luxury pods, unique in their design with a vintage aesthetic teamed with modern touches. They have WiFi, a compact kitchen area and en-suite facilities and pets are welcome too if you're planing on bringing your dog for long walks on the beach.
If you're looking for a more affordable option, the bell tents let you experience the back-to-basics vibe of a campsite without the need to pitch a tent or blow up a mattress. Each bell tent also has an individual bathroom and a stove, ensuring you also have the necessary amenities. Or, if you're a seasoned camper with your own vehicle, there are also pitches here for caravans and motorhomes, with electric hook-up available – though tents are not permitted.
And once you're settled in, it's off to explore what Northumberland has to offer. The popular Beadnell Bay Beach, a horseshoe-shaped haven for swimming and watersports, is only a short drive away, as is the remote Longhoughton Beach and the secluded Spittal Beach. This is miles and miles of coast, presenting beautiful views of the North Sea encompassing a variety of landscapes. Then overlooking the coast is Dunstanburgh Castle, ruins dating back to the 14th century that can be reached by a scenic walk from the fishing village of Craster. Needless to say, you won't be stuck for things to do at Doxford.

Each pod is tastefully designed with its own unique style and rustic charm. Our pods are perfect for a romantic break away, family holiday or an action-packed weekend exploring all Northumberland has to offer – why not bring your four-legged members of the family with you as well!
Our Luxury Glamping Pods are situated on our family-friendly site which also includes 5 grass pitches with electric hook-ups for caravan/campers and 4 Bell Tents, each with a stove. Allowing family and friends to relax, explore and enjoy. Doxford Farm Camping is situated in the heart of the stunning Northumberland countryside on our 500 acre family-run, working farm. Beautiful countryside walks and only 4 miles from the beach.
Each pod sleeps a maximum of 4 guests – up to 2 adults and 2 children (max of 16 years old) with a king-sized bed and bunk beds. The king-sized bedroom has a sliding door to add a little bit of privacy. The children’s bunk room doesn’t have a door but is situated at the end of the pod and still offers privacy with a peaceful and comfortable space to sleep. Please note that we DO NOT provide travel cots for infants and guests would need to provide their own. The bedrooms don’t have enough room to fit a travel cot in, however the living space would be able to, if needed (please bear in mind the travel cot will take up the majority of the living area once it is up).
In the middle of the pod is a spacious shower room with a large power shower, flushing toilet and large mirror. Adjacent to the bathroom is the galley kitchen which includes a full-sized Belfast sink, fridge with freezer box, 2 ring gas hob, cupboard space, cutlery, plates, bowls, glasses and everything you should need to cook and prepare a simple meal. At the front of the pod are the two seating areas – one for dining with bench seating and table and across from this a more comfortable area to relax and read a book or put your feet up and watch a film on the flat-screen TV. Other modern comforts include free wi-fi, underfloor heating throughout, USB integrated sockets, stylish interior, luxurious mattresses and bedding, towels, full length mirror, tea and coffee making facilities including camping kettle for use on the gas hob, mood lighting throughout, outdoor picnic bench, Firepit/BBQ, decking, and a large grassed area in front of the pod for all to enjoy. Well-behaved dogs are welcome, with a maximum of 2 per pod.
Price is set per pod regardless of number of guests (Max of 4 per pod). There is a 3 night minimum stay during peak times.
We currently have two Luxury Glamping Pods ready and we aim to have all 5 by Spring 2022. Please note that the other pods are being built during this time but any noise and disturbance is kept to an absolute minimum, we ask that when you book you consider this.

The single futon beds are used for children rather than adults as they are slightly smaller. Any child under 2 is classed as an infant and won't be allocated a bed. Please note we do not provide travel cots and guests must bring their own. Infants are not charged.
Please note that our bell tents DO NOT have stoves this year, however they all have a fire pit/ BBQ. It is recommended you bring with you a small camping stove for cooking, alternatively you can embrace camping and use the BBQ provided.
Bedding (and the beds!) is included in the price, however guests will need to bring their own towels. There are three individual bathrooms with loo, basin, hairdryer and shower on site for guests to use. Alongside the bathrooms there is a designated area for dish washing with large sinks and warm water. Dogs are welcome but must be kept under control at all times.

We had a great time staying in the glamping pods, you get everything you need for a very relaxing stay and in beautiful surroundings. Would highly recommend! Also so much to do in the local area!

Doxford Farm Camping is based on our family-run, working farm, which is located in beautiful North Northumberland. You will be staying in stunning countryside with miles of farm walks through woodland, lakeside and fields and only four miles from the nearest sandy beaches. We are in an ideal location to visit all of Northumberland’s finest attractions and only a few miles from Alnwick, Bamburgh Castle, the Farne Islands, Seahouses and Chillingham Castle, to mention a few. We are a small, friendly site that has plenty of outdoor space for all the family to enjoy - even those with four paws! A perfect place for relaxing and exploring - with unspoilt skies to sit beneath with a roaring fire and a warm cup of hot chocolate.Dogs are welcome and our location and set up is ideal for families and couples to take a break and soak in all Northumberland has to offer.
Nearby attractions
The Northumberland coast is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with a variety of beaches to visit. Beadnell Bay is less than a 15-minute drive away, while Spittal is a longer journey at over 30 minutes providing a more secluded retreat. The Northumberland National Park (01434 605555) is also a 30-minute drive away, where visitors can go wild goat spotting in the Cheviots. Billy Shiel's Farne Island Boat Trips (01665 720308) is just over a 15-minute drive away, giving viewers a tour by boat across the Farne Islands, where they may even see Atlantic Puffins. The market town of Alnwick is only a 10-minute drive, while the small fishing village of Craster is a 15-minute drive. There are also miles of walks to enjoy directly from the site; ask your hosts for more information.
Food and drink
The Pack Horse Inn (01665 589292) is the closest pub to the campsite, only a 10-minute drive away with meat reared in Ellingham Village by the local farmers who also make up its regular clientele. The Joiners Arms (01665 376112) is 15 minutes away, a village pub in the heart of Newton-by-the-Sea with locally-sourced food for a high-quality gastro experience. Carnaby's (01665 579061) is a café a little over five minutes away by car, a modern spot in the otherwise timeless countryside. Embers (07858 984544) provides wood-fired pizza in a shack on the coastline, with fresh local ingredients and hand-stretched to order using dough made that day.
