A relaxing East Midlands glamping site set on a working farm, all accompanied by an award-winning farm shop and a homely local pub
You don’t have to be a country bumpkin to settle down at this exciting new yurt glamping site in the centre of England. In fact, the place seems to have a real penchant for attracting city dwellers and ‘townies’ looking for somewhere to escape. It’s certainly a prize spot for doing just that. Despite the way the yurts are nestled on a working farm – mixed miles of green rural space, parcelled up by bushy Leicestershire hedgerows – it also has ample modern amenities and an obvious air of luxury. Guests sleep in proper beds, with bedding and towels provided, and there’s a wood-fired hot tub for use. Throw in the site’s award winning farm shop and the local pub less than 100 metres down the road and you quickly start to see the appeal of the place. You could easily spend a weekend here and never venture beyond the village! Opened in 2017 in the meadows of Waterloo Cottage Farm, the yurts are based on the traditional Mongolian design, with a latticed wooden frame and cream canvas, accommodating up to six people. A third, smaller yurt in the same style accommodates two – a cosy retreat for couples. Inside guests find rugs, throws and tasteful, rustic décor, while bathrooms offer the same rustic-luxury vibe, with composting loos and powerful showers. Outside, meanwhile, the farm fills the place with extra life. Pigs, sheep and cattle dot the surrounding landscape – organically managed livestock that have helped the shop win its chest of awards – and some of the sheep are occasionally even welcomed around the yurts themselves. It’s a handy way to mow the grass. Cooking courses, barbecues and wine tasting lend yet more force to the argument simply to stay put and enjoying the farm, but if you do go elsewhere bringing a bike is always a good choice. The 14-mile-long Brampton Valley Way runs nearby and has transformed a dis-used railway into a pleasant cycle route and the towpath along the Grand Union Canal is popular, too. Pedal as far as Foxton Locks to enjoy watching canal boats making their way down the impressive staircase of locks that give the village its name. Then pedal home to your yurt. Or the pub next door.

My family and I stayed at one of clean and comfortable yurt for two nights. We enjoyed this peaceful and pleasant place surrounded by beautiful farms where your children can see farm animals and hearts their sounds . You can have a private bathroom with Eco friendly loo but I didn’t like the bathroom because it was too smelly and shower sink was blocked. It has a small kitchen with many accessories which you need. Hot tub was great especially at night time which you can see stars.they provide wood logs during your stay which will help you to keep warm and many candles to be light up at night .Overall I recommended this place for nature lovers.

Ginger & Pickle
Lovely quiet and secluded little site at the back of a farm. We stayed for two nights in Ginger and Pickle with our four children and dog! The yurt itself is beautifully kitted out with everything you could need, and the kitchen and toilet facilities are equally good. Its just a really relaxing place to stay, ideal for country walks, and the hot tub, fire pit, and barbecue options, as well as the comfort of your yurt make mooching around the site equally enjoyable. Would highly recommend and we will definitely be back!

Good girls break ideal for parties and get togethers enjoying the glamping life with near by walks and good pub with excellent food. Only criticism is not enough tea and coffee provided enough as complimentary but insufficient to sustain stay if 6 people, more washing up liquid and another tea towel would be great. Overall good value for money and worth a visit for the experience lovely and warm with the log burner easy to maintain

Booking was so easy. Fast response times and great communication. We stayed at Puddleduck and it has everything you need with the addition of shared kitchen with fridges and self sufficient bathroom and shower. We enjoyed the fire pit,BBQ and hot tub. Lots to do in the area, we only left to grab some food for our stay. Shop not open on Monday/Tuesday. Kingsize bed was really comfortable and loved the slippers and eye masks as a little extra. Highly recommend and will be back x

We spent our bank holiday weekend at Country Bumpkin Yurts for a hen do as a group of 13. We had the whole site booked out, and were so impressed with the whole thing! From the booking process, answering all our questions including pub and walk recommendations, and helping out with questions during the weekend, Jen and Lara were amazing. The yurts are spotless and spacious and the beds are all so comfortable. The log burners were perfect to keep us toasty at night. The crockery, pots pans etc were all so useful and had everything we could've needed. The site itself is gorgeous - we hired a dance instructor, did a silent disco and had a yoga session all on site, and were able to cook easily for a big group using the stoves and bbqs. The hot tub was just the cherry on the cake. It was absolutely perfect - would highly recommend!

Our site comprises of three traditionally designed yurts, spacious and with full access to all the modern amenities. Each yurt is based on a wooden platform, with picturesque views across the farm and surrounding area. A log burner, shabby chic furnishings, and cosy beds are in each tent so you can rest in comfort and style. With private bathrooms and an alfresco kitchenette (plus use of the shared indoor kitchen), you will have everything you need. Our shared wood-burning hot tub makes it a glamping site for those looking for an extra special stay. Nearby attractions
Walking and cycling are always a popular starting point. The farm has direct access to Brampton Valley Way – a popular local route – and the town of Market Harborough is within walking distance (it's less than 2 miles on foot). It's a lovely town; great for shopping, eating out and learning the local history. By car, meanwhile, you can head further to find Northampton (15 miles) and Leicester (20 miles), each full of history and with plenty to occupy you on rainy days. The local fishing lakes (¾ mile; 01858 434098) are just down the road and historic Kelmarsh Hall (2½ miles; 01604 686543) opens its house and gardens during the holidays.
Food and drink
The farm is also home to an award winning farm shop – Waterloo Cottage Farm Shop (01858 467158) – so there's no excuse not to have a big old barbecue for all the gang! For the nearest pub, hop to The George in Great Oxendon (01858 465205; less than 400ft away) – newly refurbished and serving excellent food. For anything else, there are plenty of cafés and restaurants in Market Harborough.
