1950’s Americana tucked away in the wilds of South Norfolk

Situated on the Norfolk/Suffolk border, tucked away at the end of a no-through road you will find a taste of Retro Americana at Tin Can Camping. Nestled in a little wood are our four beautiful American trailers, 3 Airstreams, and 1 Jewel, waiting to capture your heart. The trailers sleep between 2-4 people and have the added bonus of a purpose-built Camp HQ with luxurious bathrooms, a modern kitchen, comfy sofas, and pool table. And for those who prefer bricks and mortar to aluminum and rivets, there is our little boutique cottage, The Nook." All four caravans are available to hire between May and October. We take bookings for 3, 5, and 7 nights arriving on Fridays. For 3-night arrivals on Mondays please contact us directly.

A small but perfectly formed Airstream, lovingly restored with comfy bed, dining area, hob, grill, sink & chemical toilet. This 1956 Airstream Bubble sleeps two on a rather comfy memory foam mattress with all bedding and towels provided. It has a fully-equipped micro kitchen with a three-ring gas hob, small fridge, kettle and small grill. There are pots, pans, utensils, crockery, cutlery, cafetiere, tea, coffee, sugar, washing up liquid, tea towels etc. It also features a small wardrobe and overhead cupboard, dining area, oil filled radiator for really chilly nights, electricity via UK plug sockets, travel hairdryer, DAB radio with iPod cable, torches and chemical toilet for night time emergencies. Please note the bed is not a full sized double so may not be suitable for larger couples or those who like a little space between them and their partner at night! Outside the van is a decking area with a picnic bench, charcoal bbq and a fire pit (logs and charcoal available to buy). Minimum stay 3 nights. Friday arrivals only via HipCamp.  SHARED FACILITIES WITH THREE OTHER CARAVANSWe have created some rather lovely indoor shared facilities for our guests to use. There are two sets of squeeky clean bathrooms an indoor kitchen, pool table, dining table and sofa area.  NB. If you are particularly tall or 'well built' we would suggest booking the Jewel or Sovereign as the Bubble and Caravanner beds lose a small amount of area where they sit in the curve of the Airstreams tail, however this has only been an issue for one very large (not tall) couple in 7 years!! If you are coming as a parent and child duo then The Jewel may suit you best unless the child is under 7 years old.

A beautiful and very rare American Airstream with plenty of space and oodles of charm. Situated in a little wood with two other vintage American trailers, the Caravanner has been beautifully restored and lovingly furnished offering guests a comfortable and memorable stay. This 1957 Airstream Caravanner sleeps two adults on a rather comfy memory foam mattress. Two small children (we suggest under 8 and 5) can also be accommodated on beds that can be made up on the bench seats (one small, one long) next to the dining table. All bedding and twoels are provided. It has a fully-equipped kitchen with a four-ring gas hob, kettle, fridge and oven. It also has a small wardrobe and overhead cupboard, dining area, oil filled radiator for really chilly nights, electricity via UK plug sockets, travel hairdryer, DAB radio with iPod cable, torch and a chemical toilet for night time emergencies. Outside the van is a rain shelter, decking area, picnic bench, charcoal bbq and a fire pit (logs and charcoal available to buy). Minimum stay 3 nights. A huge and stylish 1970's American Airstream.  Situated in a little wood with three other vintage American trailers the Sovereign has been recently restored with a cool 1970's vibe paying homage to its era. The Sovereign has a fixed double bed with memory foam mattress at the rear of the caravan plus two space age bunk 'pods' for kids to snuggle down in. It has a fully-equipped kitchen with a four-ring gas hob, kettle, fridge and grill. It also has under-bed storage, hooks and hangers, large dining area,  two small radiators, wood burner, electricity via UK plug sockets, blankets, DAB radio with iPod cable, torch and a chemical toilet for night time emergencies. We enjoyed 6 days at this amazing campsite. The retro airstreamer, bbq and fire pit made a perfect camping experience for our 4 year old. The shower and kitchen facilities were clean to very high standards. The location is perfect for exploring Norfolk!

Accommodation - Bubble Air streamer, Tin Can Camping, Norfolk Loved our stay in the Bubble! Inside the air streamer there was everything we could need to enjoy our holiday. We loved sitting outside having a BBQ then lighting the fire when it got chilly - it was so beautiful when the fairy lights came on. Dan, the host was very friendly and helpful. The information pack written by Emma was the best - so detailed, it really helped us to plan our days. We enjoyed a day at Southwold, went to the harbour for fresh sea food at the Sole bay fish shack then took the boat to the pretty village of Walberswick, we also hired a boat and sailed down the broads stopping to eat our yummy picnic bought from the Earsham Street Deli. On our way home we used our complimentary voucher for brunch at Old Hall Farm - it was gorgeous and I couldn’t leave without getting take out scones with jam and clotted cream. A wonderful experience!

We stayed for 5 nights in the Jewel and had a wonderful relaxing holiday. Very different from our usual holidays but we hope to return soon. It was so easy to get a boat on the broads for a day and Southwold was delightful with fish and chips on the beach after a swim, it was very hot!

Perfect short break. The site is just beautiful. The caravans have been restored sympathetically but with some mod cons. The facilities were amongst the best we have ever seen and so clean. Emma sent us a lot of very useful info about the area so we were able to make the most of an area we don’t know. Well worth a visit

1957 Airstream Caravanner
I stayed in The Caravanner with my fiancé for 5 days. The owners have created a little slice of paradise here; the airstream has been lovingly maintained with a cool retro vibe, kept clean and cosy and set in a lovely little orchard lit with festoon lighting and patrolled by a pheasant family and a trio of friendly cats. We loved all of the facilities, and were delighted that there was a huge kitchen, pristine shower room, and electric car charging point on the site. The owners made us feel very welcome, giving fantastic suggestions for restaurants nearby, and offering to pre-light the BBQ for our arrival. We couldn’t have been happier with our stay and hope to visit again soon!

1976 Airstream Sovereign
Such a beautifully peaceful and intimate site. Our accommodation, (the Sovereign), was just as we expected if not more with the camp HQ space providing the extra little luxuries for us to enjoy during our stay. The site became magical at night with all the lovely lighting features, and what made it more lovely was the fact that we had the whole place to ourselves! Our hosts were super laid back and provided everything we needed for the perfect stay. Such a great location and perfectly placed for some interesting days out. Wouldn't hesitate in recommending Tin Can Camping for a fantastic break away from it all!

1976 Airstream Sovereign
We had a wonderful relaxing week staying in the Sovereign, doing very little other than a few walks, eating, reading and relaxing - and it was bliss. We loved the Airstream - stylish, comfortable, well kitted out, the bed was fantastically comfortable, with a chemical loo for middle of the night trips, and a lovely wood burner stove when it got a bit chillier towards the end of our stay. The toilet and shower facilities are absolutely 5 star - luxurious, spotless and superb rainforest-style showers - better than our own at home! Emma was just lovely and we were really touched by her spontaneous gift to us of a couple of Portuguese egg tarts (we were meant to be in Portugal and Spain that week, but that was cancelled due to the pandemic). Everything was Covid-safe and its clear that Emma and Dan have put in a lot of work to make the site as Covid-safe as possible - with hand sanitiser points, sanitiser sprays and paper towels in the bathrooms. And of course there are only 4 trailers, well spaced apart, so it all made for a pretty perfect socially distanced holiday. This is our first UK holiday in the best part of 10 years and we really, really enjoyed this experience. Honey and Bishy the cats were such cutie pies - hard to tell them apart at times - so if you love cats, you'll be right at home here! We are considering booking again for next year!

This was a great unique holiday!! The owners were really helpful and always there if you needed anything. The bathroom facilities were 5star!! Our kids loved the caravan especially the bunk beds. It was great to know there was heating and it took the edge of one cool morning!! As there are only 4 caravans it felt really safe and cozy!! The view outside with the fairy lights was amazing

Stayed in the Airstream Bubble and it was brilliant. Comfortable and very well stocked with all you could need. Emma the owner was so friendly and welcoming. The Covid measures in place were sensible and didn’t impact on the pleasure of our stay. Would thoroughly recommend this for a cosy, unusual and comfortable holiday. The campsite itself is very well tended and in very peavful surroundings. Great for chilling out and escaping the world for a while. The facilities were cleaned regularly and maintained to a high standard. A great experience that we would enjoy again!

The Bubble airstream, was a small but perfectly formed 1950’s experience, but was also very comfortable. The site is welcoming and the COVID 19 measures were well done and made us feel very safe. I would recommend this site to anyone.

Alice and I would like to thank Tin Can Camping for a lovely time staying in your 2 berth caravan this past weekend; we found it cozy and relaxing with all necessary amenities met. Your recommendation for the paddleboarding is very much appreciated, it made our weekend. We also enjoyed watching the ducklings and the cat ponder around the grounds.

1957 Airstream Caravanner
We stayed for 3 nights in the Caravanner airstream. The van was very cute and cosy with pretty much everything you could need for self catering, except for a toaster, but a quick trip to camp HQ was all that was needed to toast the bread. The site is great, clean, quiet and well equipped with fire pit and BBQ to be borrowed. The only very slight issue was the size of the bed in this van, it’s very short on one side due to the curve so if you are on the taller side then one of the other caravans might be a better option. It’s also very hard to get in and out of due to a very small gap - I got a few bruises climbing out in the night for toilet trips!

Lovely site, caravans are well apart in a very nice wooded clearing. The breakfast was wonderful, with very good quality local produce. The site would be ideal for families as there is lots of space for the kids to roam in safety. The owners Dan and Emma are very friendly and helpful and the camp HQ facilities are very good with lots of games and toys for the young ones, and even a pool table for Mum and Dad! We had a very nice break, shame about the weather!

The trailer was fabulous and so well thought out and appointed with all the little retro touches making a really lovely, comfortable stay. The bed was great and the bedding made it all so cosy. The welcome breakfast pack was delicious. Having the added bonus of the shower facilities and kitchen (at Camp HQ) was great and although we could quite easily have cooked in the trailer and showered there too, it made it all just more ‘comfortable’. We will be back!

We stayed for the last weekend in August, in the amazing ‘caravanner’. We came for something fun to do for my husbands birthday and got so much more than expected. Dan & Emma have created something wonderfully unique and endearing. The site is so peaceful and offers amazing privacy for couples. We loved bbqing every night, sitting out by the fire pit and playing cards. The breakfast was perfect camping fare and it was a novelty to cook in the on board kitchen. The history of the van is so intriguing and we had fun imagining all the places it had been and the people it had seen in its 60 years. We absolutely loved the place and will recommend it to everyone we know! We’d love to come back in the future and try one of the other ‘Tin Cans’ on offer.

We booked this after looking at the images on the site of the vintage American caravans. We hired the Jewel for the weekend and it was such a beautiful time. The site was peaceful, we cooked on the bbq every night and had a campfire with marshmallows. Emma and Dan were incredibly welcoming and helpful, gave use some great tips on the local area. Best thing we did was hire canoes and wild swimming on the broads. Beautiful weekend and will definitely be visiting again.

We have just returned from the most fabulous weekend staying in the 'caravanner' at Tin Can camping. Our hosts Emma and Dan had thought of everything to make our 'glamping' weekend just perfect. From the amazing breakfast feast in the fridge on arrival (sausages, bacon, eggs, delicious raspberries and strawberries...) and fresh brownie and carrot cake, to the fluffy John Lewis towels and digital radio with ipod connector. Our gorgeous Airstream had a fire pit and barbecue, with ample charcoal and logs for our stay. The 'shared' facilities were spot on, super clean with everything you need and more. Unfortunately the pool table must have been on the wonk as I didn't manage to win a single game! ;o) We had a fabulous weekend and cannot recommend it highly enough.

What a great way to spend a long weekend! We loved everything: very comfy bed, nice retro interior with everything you need for preparing any meal you wish, peacefull surroundings, charcoal BBQ, picnic table...everything you need has been provided for. The fridge came fully stocked with all sorts of locally sourced breakfast goodies from a nearby farm to last for days - quality! Emma's & Dan's well thought of guide to the local area came in very handy as without it we'd most likely miss out on little gems like Old Hall Farm, winery and much more! We would definitely recommend this to anyone who likes spending time in nature, having BBQs and just sitting back and chilling!

Such a cute stay in the Jewel. Lots of little touches from the decor to the hamper made it really personal. We were greeted by Emma on arrival so felt really welcome and at home to just get along. We just had a quiet dad + son next to us in a new airstream so it was quiet, though I wonder if with more couples in the other two caravans that it would seem overlooked. Super nice bathrooms - didn't use the one in the caravan! - so we felt comfortable. BBQ's and chairs for use was great. Two cheeky outdoor cats going around so be aware in the middle of the night if you go for a wee!! Didn't make use of the games room/lounge because we just didn't really stay long enough but that was a cosy thing to have access to. The site is easy to get to provided you use Google Maps rather than Sat Nav. Local area we did find a bit lacking but I guess it depends what you're looking for, and it seems just a short weekend isn't really enough to get to know it - but this did mean we spent more time in the caravan + outside it just chilling out (not a place to get to using public transport at least). We had lovely weather so it was a great opportunity to hang out and enjoy what their site had to offer. Thanks for the stay and the special time!

A birthday treat for Sam & what a treat , we were welcomed by Cindy & Jules and given a guided tour , this place is amazing and a few nice surprises thrown in , like the postcard and the candle with the brownies wishing Sam a happy birthday, she loved it and the brownies . We visited loddon farmers market and came back with lots of goodies , then had a drink at the white horse chedgrave, a very nice place indeed . Shopping in bungay was also great so many hidden little shops , try it and totally explore . Back at the site we enjoyed the bubble, so well restored , although we cooked our breakfast in the barn , played pool , dominoes & boule , there is everything to keep you occupied . One regret we never got to meet Emma and Dan , but we are already talking about going again . So see you soon . Sam and Rik .

Wonderful stay in the Airstream Bubble! Caravan was perfect, lots of lovely touches. The barn provided an excellent extra space to cook and relax plus the showers were a welcome addition and at such a high standard. Breakfast was amazing too with high quality items. Would definitely stay again!

Emma and Dan were there on arrival to show us around the site. Perfect secluded getaway. Breakfast a treat and lovely to have a separate shower, toilet and social room. We made the most of the weather and visited Southwold and popped to the most amazing fish and chip restaurant on the harbour reccommended in the caravanna guide. We also visited a fab pizza place in Bungay. Another great place to enjoy yummy food. We hope many more couples get to escape for a break at Emma and Dan's unique Tin Can Camping

Loved staying at the Bubble! I'd booked it as a surprise for my boyfriend and we really enjoyed the glamping style experience it gave us. The bubble is small, but functional and very well kitted out and cozy! We spent one day exploring the local area and had a fantastic BBQ whilst watching the sun set from outside our Airstream. Emma was very responsive and gave us an early check in when we couldn't make our original booking. The breakfast hamper lasted us 3 mornings and the showers are wonderful. Recommend if you want an usual but comfortable experience in a secluded, beautiful spot in the Broads. Bring a car! Thanks Emma & Dan

We stayed in the "jewel" for 4 nights. We had a wonderful time. The caravan was lovely, had everything we needed and more. It was the most peaceful camping experience we have ever had. With only 3 caravans on site we all had our individual space, table and chairs on a decking area and fire pit. The luxury "hq" which we shared, had amazing double showers, full kitchen, pool table and sitting area. These facilities made for a perfect stay. The surrounding areas were great for walking and playing around on the canal. Thank you Emma and Dan for making this place available to us and hopefully we will return.

When our own campervan broke down just before our planned holidays we were looking for a stay that would bring us all the things we love about camping - a cool retro home on wheels (important!), campfires, comfort, cooking and eating outdoors, and new places to explore. We were so lucky to find all this at short notice by staying in the Caravanner! We were excited to stay inside an airstream for the first time after admiring them from afar for years - this one is authentically restored with lots of lovely details and is really spacious for a couple. Emma and Dan have left lots of room around each trailer too, with a fire pit and picnic table. Its a short walk through the maturing garden to what must be the best shower and toilet facilities I think we've ever had on a site, housed in a cool and cosy barn, complete with lounge, pool table, full kitchen and coffee making machine. Its so thoughtful having this extra space and I think that's what makes Emma and Dan's place stand out - our kitchen in the trailer was stocked with local sausages and bacon, eggs, bread, milk, butter, strawberries and chocolate brownies, yogurt, cereals and bananas, as well as a bottle of prosecco to pop on arrival, which was brilliant to celebrate after the stress of our own van troubles! There were even ice creams in the freezer, and wood for one fire and charcoal for BBQs included. You could arrive here with very little and be really set up and well looked after. We did go out to explore the amazing coastline and watery ways of Norfolk but we loved getting 'home' to the Caravanner, taking cold beers out of the fridge and watching amazing sunsets in the big skies through the trees. Emma and Dan were super friendly and available whenever you needed them but were getting on with family life in the house while we played house in the airstream, which felt just the right balance. We smiled when the 'logs delivery man' turned up on the last night - their 5 year old boy driving his own cool little pick-up truck (with Dad following behind)! and we also smiled at the very affectionate cat that kept coming to hang out with us (and I say that as a dog person!). I've already been asked by a lot of friends for details of Tin Can Camping after they saw the photos and heard all about it - so I hope lots of people visit, it really deserves to do well!

Water: Our guests love to hire kayaks, paddle boards and day boats from various outlets nearby and while away some relaxing time on the quiet rivers.

Seaside: Southwold is a 45 minute drive away and boasts excellent beaches, fabulous food, crabbing off the quayside for kids, cute beach huts and fantastic independent shops. There is a wonderful beach just 30 minutes away at Gorleston where you can also take in some Banksy artwork.

Kids: Bewilderwood, Roarr Dinosaur Adventure park and The Maize Maze are firm favourites with our younger guests as is crabbing at Southwold and Walberswick.

Swim: Beccles Lido is a wonderful outdoor pool for all ages and beautifully heated n the summer time.

Food and drink

Each caravan receives a £10 voucher for a fabulous farm shop, Old Hall Farm, Woodton just a 5 minute drive away. They have a delicious selection of their own and other local meat, cakes, bread, deli goods, raw milk, locally made frozen pizzas, fruit and veg. There is a great cafe onsite serving locally sourced breakfasts, lunches and coffees plus the resident Jersey cows, cheeky goast, peacocks, hairy pigs etc keep the kids amused during your visit.
