Really enjoyed our stay at Thompson Retreat. Everything was provided to ensure an idyllicly peaceful week. Long walks by day and lost evenings watching the sunset and the deer wander by. We intend to visit again.

I brought my boyfriend here for 2 nights over his birthday - best decision ever. It was such a beautiful location, peaceful and secluded. The bath tub was perfect for 2, and the heat lamp above it was the perfect position to keep the chill off your shoulders whilst taking a dip. The bed was large enough and the electric blanket was a good touch - we were definitely never cold! I was genuinely surprised by the amount of appliances and how kitted-out the space was. There were so many convenient items such as olive oil and clingfilm which someone may forget to bring. And the combi microwave-oven came in extremely useful. Thank you so much for a lovely little break!

I spent one night in the Whoa-Stop shepherds hut and it was fantastic. 1 adult, 2 dogs but definitely possible for 2 adults and 2 dogs. Facilities were great, kitchens were equipped with everything I needed to cook dinner/breakfast. Outdoor bath is superb, log burner also great although some instructions might have been beneficial for people who aren't experienced in using them. The breakfast platter was excellent. Surroundings are peaceful and offer an opportunity to disconnect from the world. Will definitely be back!

Giraffe Enclosure

Two of us stayed in the Giraffe Enclosure, for two nights. The accommodation is beautiful, and romantic and we can only echo the great things already said above Constructive feedback: Heating for the tent is provided solely by the wood-burning fire in the living area. (There are heated blankets on the bed for bedtime) The website says that firelighters are provided, which they weren't. Getting the fire working without firelighters was quite difficult, and on our second day we trekked into town to buy some. If the owners could ensure there are some before a visitor arrives that would be great. The fire came with no instructions, and our fire kept going out within minutes. After some trial and error It turns out there are two push/pull levers under the fire door that controls air flow. Instructions would have been very useful. When you're busy trying to unpack and get settled (at night in the cold), you don't want to faff with trying to get a fire going. The website says that cooking oil is provided for guests, and yet there was no cooking oil. We would have happily brought our own had we known, but before we could cook our morning breakfast another trip into town was required to buy some oil. I was awakened at 1am to find couple of creatures with tails (mice?) on the kitchen side munching away at the packaging to food we had wrapped up. In the middle of a forest in a tent, its totally understandable that furry friends are going to be attracted to what you have brought with you. It would be useful to have a sign up saying to keep all food in the fridge or bread bin and to empty the bin before going to bed. Also, to wipe down the work surfaces each morning as we had (mouse?) droppings to wipe away. As suggested, we did call the number given on our booking confirmation in the hope of speaking to someone at the venue but it just rang off, and nobody tried to call us back. Ladies, bring your own hair dryer as one isn't provided.

We spent a night in the Bishy Barney Bee shepherd hut and loved it! The outside bath made it for us, absolutely perfect way to relax while looking out at the trees. We had a few walks nearby and loved sleeping in the hut, so cosy. Will definitely be back!

Firefly (Adult Only Hybrid Pod)

A lovely little place that really feels far away from the rest of the world. Peaceful and lots of wildlife to spot, an owl came to say hello one evening whilst we were there. On once the skies cleared we had an amazing view of the stars. The hut contains everything you need for a long weekend including a super comfortable bed, we both slept really well. We visited the Chequers pub in Thompson a couple of times and couldn't ask for a friendlier welcome. Highly recommend a hike along Pingo trail, beautiful sights and so peaceful, we never saw another soul, it really is a hidden gem. Even the moment that the combine harvester passed in front of the hut was a bit of a treat, makes you appreciate the work that goes into putting food on the table (all be it noisy and dusty for a little while). Thank you for a lovely stay.

Me and my boyfriend have Just returned from a 3 night stay in the dragonfly hut it was so relaxing and tranquil and exactly what we needed away from our everyday busy lives we especially loved the log burner it made the hut very cosy the bed was extremely comfy and loved waking up to the view of horses in the morning , will definitely be returning soon

We have just stayed for three nights at the firefly shepherds hut. The spa area was phenomenal and we booked for a massage which we can quite honestly say was a best massage We have ever had. Beautiful tranquil location would definitely recommend.

Firefly (Adult Only Hybrid Pod)

We had a two night stay to celebrate 30 years of marriage. It was relaxing and exciting, evening were spent in the luxury of firefly retreat and then the days were spent exploring the local area - a bike ride in a thunder storm! The spa provided a chance to recoup and rest tired limbs. We really enjoyed our stay, we think that some wild flowers would enhance the environment of the meadow surrounding the two huts and in the spa area a cold dip tube and a foot message trail would add to the experience. Have already recommended Thompson Hall to a few friends.

Firefly (Adult Only Hybrid Pod)

We had a lovely one night get away at Thompson Hall retreat in Bishy Bee. The outside veranda with outside bath was perfect after going in the hot tub and sauna. The steak, breakfast and chocolate packs were great and we cooked on a bbq. En-suite facilities were great, comfortable bed and serene setting. My husband particularly enjoyed listening to radio 1 in the sauna and pretending he was ‘out out!’ We went to holkham beach the next day, about an hour away but the pingo walking trail close by would have been a lovely (8mile) walk had it not have been 30 degrees and I’d only brought sandels! We would come back again.

I can’t express just how perfect our stay was in the Hartley Hut. It had everything we needed and wanted, the BBQ pack was amazing. We spent our nights by the fire pit listening to nothing around us! But the jewel is the outside bath! Honestly loved it! I’ve come back home more relaxed than I’ve been in a very long time! We are already working out dates to go back again!

Dragonfly (Hybrid Pod)

Had an amazing short stay in the dragon fly hybrid pod. It had everything you needed and the bed was very comfortable. We had relaxing nights around the fire pit,which was so peaceful and a great place to watch the sunrise and sunset. The staff were very helpful and polite. We enjoyed it so much we stayed an extra day!

A little hard to find but once you find it - you are presented with an idyllic view. We stayed at the whoa stop and added on the extra of spa access. This place is wonderful! They really have thought of everything. I recommend this to any couple looking for a peaceful and romantic break.

Wow what a gem, so private and secluded. A little piece of heaven in the forest! Fell in love with Hartley Hut and didn’t want to leave. Such a romantic hideaway. What a beautiful little place, we stayed in the Hartleys hut, it was so quirky and pretty. A lovely little hidden Gem in the countryside. Everything you could possibly need and more. A cosy firepit to enjoy a glass of something nice under the stars, a double ended bath for that romantic evening. Loved cooking in the outdoor kitchen and enjoying a breakfast looking over the fields, peaceful and tranquil, lovely escape from the real world.

It has been amazing spending one night in this place with my boyfriend. The small house where we stayed “the Hurley hut” is so nice and comfortable, in the middle of the woods. Outside there is an amazing hot tub and we spent the night there, under the sky, with a bottle of Prosecco which I ordered before coming . Everything was So romantic and amazing. The day after, in the morning, we went to the outside SPA and we enjoyed the view of the horses from the hot tub. Perfect for couple that want to enjoy the silent, the relax and the perfection of the nature, into the wild. Thank you so much, we recommend this place to everyone.

We have just returned from a long weekend in Bishy Barney Bee, and feel completely refreshed. The hut has everything you could possibly need and is sited in an area overlooking a field where we saw deer, herons, pheasants and numerous other wildlife. We felt very covid-safe as everywhere was clean and we checked in and out without seeing anybody! Can't wait to stay again!

My wife and I recently spent two nights in ‘Bishy Barney Bee’ one of the beautiful shepherds huts at Thompson Hall retreat. We had the best time, the location is tranquil and peaceful, the accommodation is perfectly equipped for a romantic break, the spa area just adds to the feeling of calm and luxury. I couldn’t recommend this place highly enough, every little touch has been considered. I should also add the breakfast and bbq packs are a must if you like meat, its first class! Treat yourselves and book up soon, you won’t regret it

For two consecutive birthdays,I have escaped along with my husband to the peace and tranquility of Bishy Barney Bee at Thompson Hall Retreat.The hut is beautifully furnished,the bed large and comfortable and the wood burning stove makes it so cosy and romantic.We love using the double ended bath outside to wash away the worries of the world and the heater above makes it a real treat.The few extra touches complete the picture of perfection;a bottle of fresh milk in the fridge,some delicious croissants left for us in the kitchen and the warm welcome on our arrival with the offer of staying a little later in the morning if we so desired.......

I've just spent the most amazing weekend here. The hut has everything you need to enjoy this quiet countryside retreat, wood burner, large outdoor bath, kitchen, patio open fire. Also paid the little extra for use of the spa and enjoyed the hot tub under the starts and sauna.
