We loved visiting Dogwood.
We visited on a whim one Sunday evening in early September, needing a break from the city. We were pleased to be welcomed warmly by Phil, who was accommodating and available, despite the random timing !
We had the site to ourselves, and loved the peace and quiet - only accompanied by the animals who were roaming the site.
The toilet and shower facilities were close by and clean, well maintained for the end of season, beginning of off-season.
The site is well positioned and sign posted, a short walk from two pubs and a small shop, easily drivable into Rye, Hastings or Camber for whatever your stay is for!

Could be a really nice site with a bit of work.
The ceilings in the shower was covered in mold and cobwebs, the wooden rack on the floor which you had to stand on to exit the shower made your feet black with dirt/mold which meant they needed to be rinsed off again before you could put shoes on. Also no mirrors in the showers and just 1 hook to hang a towel which left nowhere to put clothes.
I initially booked a pitch with electric, but I was called 2 days before to say the electric pitch I'd booked wasn't available and I'd be refunded, which I haven't been. Had I known i wouldn't have had access to electric I would have booked another site but with 2 days notice this wasn't an option.
Overall the site felt a bit dilapidated, with a bit of work and investment it could be a really nice site but I feel like its been left to become a bit run down

Beautiful site with a pony, goats and hens walking free. Friendly reception and clean everywhere. Nice pub at a short walk through the fields.

My family and I spent a night here, we absolutely loved this site. Phil was great, really friendly and cheerful, and gave us a warm welcome when we arrived. I met his wife as well who had a lovely chat with my kids and introduced them to the ducks and chickens. This is a great, family run campsite that is ideal for a quiet getaway.
The facilities are clean and tidy, no issues at all. We stayed during a rain storm, fortunately we remained warm and dry in our campervan. Some of the other campers introduced themselves for a chat, the site definitely has a relaxed and chilled vibe that everyone embraces!
The goats and pony were in their pen when we arrived, my kids absolutely loved them!
The campsite itself is small but has great amenities, we would happily come back for another relaxing break!

My family had a lovely time staying here.
Phil was warm and welcoming when we arrived. It is a cosy campsite with it not being a busy time we had plenty of space.
It’s a little rough around the edges but the facilities are clean and maintained.
It’s also in a good location for various points of interest.

We had 2 nights in this lovely spot with plenty of space, peace and quiet despite being full on first night. Toilets and showers clean and hot! Good base for local dog walks and visits to the coast.

Lovely peaceful site, with woodland all around. Decent hot showers, clean toilets, lots of hot water for washing up. Yes it’s rustic, not unclean, so there might be the odd creepy crawley but that’s camping 😂 we’d stay again.

We stayed at Dogwood Camping in Brede in early May with our 2-year-old and 7-month-old. The location is peaceful, but we were very concerned about hygiene. Goats and a horse were allowed to roam freely during the day, including through the camping areas, and there was livestock faeces all around our tent. Despite being careful, we stepped in it several times.
Shortly after the trip, my wife became unwell with gastrointestinal symptoms. While we can’t be certain of the cause, the conditions raise serious concerns, especially for families with children. The setting has potential, but animal management urgently needs improvement to make it safe for families.

The site in general could be so nice, but it appeared to be somewhat dilapidated. Appreciate that we booked a basic site with limited facilities, but it felt a little run down and had no idea where we were staying when we arrived.
Also, whilst it’s nice to have animals wandering around the site, I think more control is needed for the hens that would not leave us alone during lunch. So much so, we had to place our children in our car with their sandwiches which was not ideal, nor relaxing.
I could see that other campers were suffering with same issue.

We had a lovely stay at Dogwood Cottage Campsite in Brede. Easy to book and the hosts Phil and Katie sent through booking confirmations and welcome pack with lots of helpful information really quickly. We opted for a pitch with an electrical hook up, which meant we were able to plug our electric cool box in and charge our portable devices.
We hired a fire pit and bought a bag of logs for a campfire both nights we stayed.
The site was very quiet and all the other campers were very friendly and respectful.
The showers were lovely and hot and the toilets clean. There is also a nice big sink for washing up.
It was great to spend our early mornings with the very inquisitive chickens and goats, the latter of which loved a little body rub on the tent guy ropes!
The local bus is a route 29 which appears to run every hour, but wasn’t stopping at the bus stop a few yards up the road due to some road works.
Hastings seafront is about a 20 minute drive away.
We didn’t get to try the two pubs that are closest to the campsite, The Red Lion and The Broad Oak, but both are about a 15-20 minute walk away.
All in all, a really nice stay. Thanks Phil and Katie.

Lovely, quiet rural site with everything you need for a great stay.
The owner Phil is helpful & friendly & the vibe is super chilled. You are allocated a pitch before arrival & these are spacious enough that you’re not crammed in at all. We didn’t explore the other areas with pitches but from the map they sent us, there are lots of quiet hedged off areas. Showers, toilets & washing up facilities are well kept. Rules are there but nothing that would mess with a chilled trip. Dog friendly but on leads at all times (there are goats & a Shetland pony loose at times)
It’s a great place in a lovely setting with lovely owners.
Would absolutely recommend.

Lovely host Phil, in a quiet & relaxed atmosphere.
Nice location for exploring the coast & Hastings or Battle etc
The kids loved the Gamgster goats & chickens that wonder around.
Just be aware the chickens take no prisoners & are not easily scared away from your cooking!

Simple and lovely campsite in a great location. If you are looking for easy access to several beautiful beaches and the nature reserve at Rye Harbour this is the perfect choice. It's a small, friendly site with large flat pitches. Our daughter had a great time making friends with the other kids. Hot showers and clean facilities, and Phil was very friendly and always on hand for anything. We loved Dino the tiny Shetland pony, the goats, chickens and ducks that had free reign of the site during the day.

Very nice camping with lovely hosts! We had a very good time at dogwood campsite for 9 nights. It is a small farm camping/glamping with a pony, 2 goats, chickens and ducks. There are some rules like no car by the tent and no stereos but the result is a VERY good atmosphere on the camp site where everybody is relaxt. When we are back in England we will visit this hidden pearl again. Viva España! (Inside joke ;) ) Thank you for having us!
