As you'd expect from a site with such a name, there's a whole lot of space in which to relax and explore at 5 Acres, a large grassy site in the Somerset Levels. Kids and dogs are both welcome on site here, and there's plenty of scope for them to run about and play games safely away from barbecues and campfires (which are also permitted to keep you warm and fed in the evenings). Facilities on site include firepits, a toilet and shower block and outdoor sinks with mains water. Dogs must be kept on leads at all time. We class ourselves as a quite site so no amplified music. The premier pitch is fully enclosed so dogs can be let off the lead. There is a maximum of six people allowed on this pitch at any one time. Visitors are allowed as long as the total number of people doesn't exceed six and they are chargeable at the overnight rate and must leave by 18:00 - Sorry, had the envelope pushed a bit! Mains hook ups are 6Amp max rated. Pitches are approximately 16m x 20m. The flag, firepit and pitch number line up in the centre of your pitch. The surrounding Somerset Levels aren’t just out in the sticks – they also produce them. Willow cane has been cultivated the traditional way in this part of the county for hundreds of years and can be seen growing within a mile of 5 Acres. The Levels are also a wildlife haven, making them an all-round top choice for country walks along the many trails nearby. And while this may be a rural retreat, it's also one that's easy to get to as it's just off the A378 (no winding country lanes to negotiate for this one…) Taunton town centre, with its wide range of shops and supermarkets, is a 15-minute drive away. The closest pub and coffee shop are five minutes away by road.

We aim to provide a quite site free from noise and light pollution so no amplified music. Two hot Showers and three flushing toilets are provided in the converted horse lorry. Each pitch is approximately 16m x 20m and has a fire pit provided. The centre of your pitch is marked by the flag, firepit and pitch number. Pot washing sinks are dotted around the site. All taps supply drinking water. Dogs welcome but must be kept on a lead at all times. The centre of the field is left to grow long through the summer and provides a natural play area for children and cover for wildlife. Also, we leave the field margins are left for wildlife.

Great small, tidy no fuss site, lots of sinks (almost one per pitch!) and friendly owner. Great value for solo travellers, as charged per person. A little noise from roads close by, but generally v.peaceful.

The ground is flat! Each pitch is numbered (very spacious) with it's own firepit in front of you. Very well set out. I like the one way system, easy to follow. Toilets clean. Site was easy to find as well. There is no 'view' to speak of but you are in the countryside so trees, hedges, birdsong and the stars at night. The host is a lovely person to have a chat to as well.

Not great at all. The converted horse transporter was not good in my opinion. I liked the idea of reusing something but the cubicles were too small and the ramp up to it needed more of a handrail. The old double decker bus looked like an eyesore . We were not greeted until wed been there 36 hours. The middle of the field which i thought would be great for kids or adult groups to run around on was full of lumps and bumps and could easily lead you to a broken ankle The site was more of a £20/night place and not a £30/night place We shortened our trip there from 3 nights to two nights and were charged an admin fee equivalent in value to the third night. We did it for their benefit and were told we would have a £30 refund which has not appeared. I have stayed on many campsites in uk and Europe and this was not up to scratch, for many reasons. I booked it as it was within walking distance of 2 pubs. One was shut and the other was a 10 minute drive away. Met an owner after being there a while and he seemed nice, but the site needs quite a few improvements.

Beautiful campsite with plenty of space and nice amenities. I couldn't see a clear difference between where the electric and non electric pitches were but that was okay, since I didn't need electricity.

This field is beautiful, peaceful and spacious, and I loved the horse box showers and toilets. The hobbit house and private patch looked interesting too.

Great peaceful location. Theo and Sarah great hosts . Logs supplied for our first night £10. Facilities excellent. Hot and cold water available 24/7. Very clean . Great supply of crockery and cutlery. Pitch even allowed us to secure our large dogs. Beautiful walks all around. A doggie heaven ! Don’t forget to try the local Cider from Bray Cider just down the road . Villages nearby with everything you need. Thank you for our time to switch off . Highly recommend

Such a great site! So much room for each pitch and a lovely wild flower meadow with paths cut through for the toilets (which were in a converted horse box!!). Everything super clean. Fire pits on every pitch. Lovely rolling hills surrounding it. Would recommend!

A lovely, very spacious field. Wild flowers in the centre. Large pitches with own fire pit. Outdoor sink and rubbish with cold water. A little noise from a side road but very peaceful on the whole. Very quirky toilets and showers in a horse box. Very clean and well made. Very friendly owner who supplies logs if needed. Would recommend if you like to camp simply and peacefully.
