With a private valley, formed in the last ice age, acres of land and woodland to explore, our farm has a very special feeling which has been mentioned by every visitor. Occupied by some beautiful wildlife, including buzzards and owls, deer, badgers and foxes. The Wagons have a grass roof, firepits, sleep 4 (in double bunk format), they are hand-made from reclaimed materials salvaged from the local town and other areas, double skinned and insulated with sheeps wool. They have a 2-ring gas-burner in the cute kitchen area, dining table and seating, and are the perfect home away from home. All the decor is vintage, including cuttlery, crockery and even the childrens teddy's. Being on the doorstep of Dalby Forest, there are hours of entertainment to be had. You can follow the stream at the bottom of the valley to the River Derwent or venture into the surounding woods. We can provide a guest pass (free access) for Dalby Forest. The Wagons are not powered by electricity and are romantically lit by candles and oil lamps. Heated by cast iron gas heaters.

Bickley Rigg Farm is famed for its dark skies and unpolluted surroundings, and Dalby Forest (our neighbour) is renound for its mountain biking trails, from novice to extreme.

Step back in time and experience the ultimate glamping adventure in our one-of-a-kind Portmaster caravan. This 1970s chrome-outfitted showman’s caravan has been stripped down and transformed into a rustic retreat for couples or families. Inside, you’ll find two comfortable double beds, providing sleeping space for up to 4 guests. The space The Portmaster has been designed to give you a cozy and comfortable glamping experience with a wood burner in the living area to keep you warm during colder nights. The kitchen area is equipped with all the necessary cooking appliances you’ll need for your stay. Guests can also enjoy a personal fire pit outside the caravan, perfect for roasting marshmallows and creating memories with your loved ones. The Portmaster has a unique and special history, as it was once a famous café in London at the Blackwood Tunnel, and now, it’s one of the last of its kind. All wood used in the renovation is reclaimed and adds to the rustic and beautiful style of the caravan. With its vintage charm and modern amenities, the Portmaster promises to be an unforgettable holiday experience for you and your loved ones. Guest access Each wagon is sat in its own area with an outdoor fire-pit – guests get a free sack of logs as part of their stay. Each wagon also has a barbecue available situated in a stone barn nearby where there are also other amenities for guests use ie kindling, deckchairs, windbreaks, games and gas for the lamps and stoves. We also have camping toilets for guests that need a one in their wagon, or may not want to use the guest cubical toilet, also located near the barn. The hot gas shower is also located in this area.

This is a very cool, vintage and large glamping wagon on our little campsite next to Dalby Forest. Made from a reclaimed trailer and materials and decorated inside in a very traditional and vintage manor. It has a small kitchen area and a barn-door dining table with four stools, a double bed and two smaller folding bunks above the double, ideal for children. An outside fire-pit, lots of deck chairs and loungers for your use. Perfect for a couple or a young family. The space Safe place to stay, we are very remote 🙂 Our private views are amazing and will leave you perfectly relaxed. There is so much space to explore, you could walk for miles without being disturbed. In a small area divided by a line of trees, just to the left as you look out of the wagons, you’ll find a toilet, shower, and washing area. The wagons are heated with gas heaters, resembling vintage wood burners. These are state-of-the-art, current heaters with all necessary safety features which provide the perfect warmth for winter nights. Although the wagons have no mains power, they are lit with gas and oil lamps. Candles are also provided for the perfect romantic touch adding authenticity. There is a gas stove in the kitchen, two double beds with quality mattresses and protectors (guests must provide their own bedding). All crockery and cutlery is provided. Guest access Each wagon is sat in its own area with an outdoor fire-pit – guests get a free sack of logs as part of their stay. Amazing!

Staying in 'Oxo'. Amazing cozy little hut full of amazing personal touches and a lovely warm welcome from the owner and some lovely little luxurys on a welcome tray. The site has a little dog run, a little shop for beers, wine and eggs, washing facilities and fire.pits. Brilliant stay.

This is an amazing wagon set in the most beautiful countryside with breathtaking views . We had our own composting toilet . Bruce left us lots of treats for our arrival . We sat outside until late with the fire pit campfire until we could see the stars . It was very warm night . Thanks so much to Bruce for a lovely stay .

Glamping Wagon - Oxo

We loved our night at Bickley Rigg wagons. We stayed in Oxo wagon, which has a beautiful bunk bed with cupboard bed beneath, and it’s full of vintage curios, china and oil lanterns. We enjoyed the views across the valley, a campfire, delicious local produce in our welcome pack (especially the bacon), learning how to use the storm lamps and watching rabbits on the hill from our beds in the morning. Feel refreshed and inspired. Be aware toilets and facilities are very much off grid composting ones. Bruce was welcoming and helpful despite his kids being ill- and hard to believe he’s built all the wagons himself- this is obviously a labour of love.

What a gorgeous, quirky and comfortable caravan, with such a fantastic view! Bruce was really welcoming and passionate about the site, the landscape and the wildlife. My boys and i cooked hot dogs and smores on the fire pit outside while we watched birds, rabbits and deer, gathered round the stove inside and played games, then watched the stars before snuggling up in 2 big lovely beds. We enjoyed the delicious extras, especially the bread, bacon, eggs and cheese which made for a tasty breakfast. Really enjoyed ourselves and planning on staying again to enjoy Dalby firest and villages, and some of the Scarborough events.

I hesitate to leave this review, in case it means the site will be fully booked next time I want a little break but... Amazing! Wonderful location, really characterful wagons, lots of bits and pieces which made it easy, and Bruce is so clearly a genuine enthusiast (about his area, about his wagons, about hosting). Loved it!

We loved our stay on Bickley Rigg Farm! The wagons are incredible and we spent all evening looking at the vintage items. The farm felt very remote, there's beautiful views of the surroundings and lovely walks nearby. The compost toilet, charging points for phones, fridges and honestly shop were great additions. The whole places feels very magical and we'd highly recommend staying here.

We stayed at Bruce’s camp for one night recently in OXO wagon and absolutely loved it. The wagon is beautiful, clean, warm and very comfortable. The site itself is great with so much rustic charm and incredible views. Bruce was a brilliant host giving us a very warm welcome.

The site was fantastic, eclectic, inspiring and individualised enough to make it a great clamping experience. Bruce and his family are definitely one of the greatest draws to this wonderful site. Their attention to detail and willingness to help is wonderful. Setting amazing. Facilities basic but for all of us of a certain age, that’s just how camping and clamping should be.

What a FANTASTIC stay! A hidden gem, Bruce has turned his hobby into a beautiful getaway. On arrival Bruce met us and showed us to our wagon, once inside he had us a lovely hamper made up of locally sourced bacon, eggs, bread and cakes. A lovely stay for couples or family, will defiantly be back!
