Hay House Farm
We enjoyed our stay here! The property is beautiful and we were happy to be greeted by multiple dogs. Dave was there to meet us when we arrived, gave us a quick tour, and provided a cart to bring our gear to our campsite. Our site was next to another group but we didn’t feel too close. Bring your own tp for the outhouse!

We had a lovely time with David and the flower farm! He was incredibly welcoming and sold us fresh eggs for breakfast the next morning. The property was magical to walk around, and the bamboo room was a relief on a 90 degree day to cool off. We also enjoyed hiking the trails attached to the property and found a lake to jump into to cool off. Highly recommend for a small group!

The setting is beautiful, and the sites in the field feel very private. Only a short walk to get between the parking area, the campsites, and the outhouse. Lots to do and see on the property, including hiking trails and the hidden bamboo room!

Campsite in the garden
We loved the site! It was really quiet and peaceful; it felt nice and secluded. David also provided top notch firewood. We camped in a few other spots in the area the same week and no place had wood as dry as that! Makes great campfires.

David is a great host, but for what felt to be on the more expensive side for camping it didn’t feel like it was a worthwhile experience. Nice views but nothing spectacular
Hay House Farm
Quiet, shady, and in a great location. Those are its best assets. The bugs may be an issue for some people as it was for my wife.

Hay house is a beautiful place to camp. The site I had was at the far end of the field with the stupa in front and backed to the woods. Very quiet & peaceful.

A perfect peaceful off the grid tre
The facility was beautiful, peaceful and far enough away from civilization to feel "in the middle of nowhere" but close enough to run to town if you forgot something. David knew the history of the area extremely well and clearly loves his home.
We left feeling refreshed, restored and at peace.

Beautiful Farm
This was our second stay at David’s farm, and we’ll definitely be coming back again. The farm’s a wonderful place to stay, David’s a great host, and the surrounding area in CT has plenty to do.

Gorgeous land
We really enjoyed camping here. The kids loved running between the gardens and exploring the bamboo room. David is an artist and his gardens are a gift to visit. We were especially lucky to meet the puppies! David was great about communication and our site was lovely! I would definitely recommend.

Exactly what we were looking for!
This is exactly what we were looking for in a camp site! Quiet, plenty of room, privacy, and David was very inviting and friendly!
David meets up with you when you arrive and gives you a quick tour around the gardens and grounds so you can find you way back to your car or to the outhouse when needed. You walk through the gardens to get to a field where you camp on the edge of the woods and you have this wide open space all to yourself (there is another site close but not as close as other campgrounds, but we were the only ones there at the time) there’s trails in the nature preserve and trails in the field as well as a Buddhist stupa. And a bamboo patch made into a little hide away with a sitting area inside! At night we heard owls and could see a frillion stars! Beautiful peaceful property! David informed us of a local farmers market that we went to the next day. Great weekend! Will definitely be returning when it warms up again!!

Beautiful Garden and Campsite
Beautiful spot and friendly host.
It's a short walk to the campsite from the parking area and David provided a garden cart upon arrival, which was very helpful.
It's ideal to arrive before sundown to navigate the path to the campsite.

Whimsical Garden Stay!
The location has much to recommend it: the gardens are wild and whimsical and enchanting. There are so many sections to wander.
The field is huge and offers shade if needed.
Our first hipcamp experience, and we were big fans!

Perfect Family Camping Trip!
We just got home from our amazing late-summer camping adventure at Hay House Farm and can't say enough incredible things about our experience. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted warmly by David and his three awesome pups, Momo, Mack, and Tutti. Our 5- and 3-year old daughters were beside themselves and spent the entire trip enamored by those adorable, friendly, perfect dogs!
We loaded a wheelbarrow with our gear and made a short trek through David's stunning gardens to arrive at our gorgeous campsite. The site was set on the edge of a stunning hayfield and was surrounded by woods. There were buckets of rainwater, a couple of plastic chairs, and a fire bowl already at the site, available for us to use. The stars each evening were stunning; it was one of the most peaceful, gorgeous settings we've been to in a long while.
We made quick friends over the course of our 2-day stay with a couple camping on a second site close to ours in the field. We could see their site from where we were, and they were close enough so that we didn't feel alone.
There were a couple of tips from Hipcamp that helped make our stay comfortable. The first was to bring bug spray. There were quite a few mosquitos and bees, which, of course, is to be expected on a working farm! Occasionally we would get a waft of manure from the farm, as well, and the roosters crowed from early in the morning throughout the day. I sleep with earplugs, so it didn't bother any of us.
We stopped by the Chester Farmer's Market on the recommendation of David and had the perfect morning after our Sunday checkout because of this. We had an absolutely incredible stay at the magical Hay House Farm and cannot wait to book again!
