Walk-in Tent Site
SMR Carmel was a great!
We stayed only a short while, but the entire site had a nice setup. The campsites are flat and clean with good space to camp with a tent. Very nice location and well kept! Wish we could’ve had more time to enjoy the hike and the city. Also, it took us about 30 ish min to get to Big Sur.

Beautiful campground
We have a van so it was perfect for us. Clean and well maintained grounds and facilities. We didn’t get a chance to visit I the pool but it looked clean and beautiful. 10/10 recommend and will definitely be coming back!

Fabulous time
Beautiful campground with amazing flowers and trees. We had a primo spot on the side of the mountain with an incredible view. Bathhouse was well maintained. Public areas are warm and inviting. Staff is extra friendly and accommodating. Great location for exploring Carmel, Monterey, and Big Sur! Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

We loved our tent, complete with lamps and heated blankets. Bbq was clean as were the bathrooms and the staff was very friendly! Pool was great for our afternoon swims. Thanks for a wonderful stay! We will be back soon!!

Luxury Tent
The site was beautiful. We had views of the luscious green mountain. We didn’t have neighbors that we too close by so the stay was very peaceful. The tent and site were extremely clean, even the bathrooms. Can’t wait to come back!

Short night in Carmel
I really liked this spot, we stayed in #30 and it was very nice, private and quiet. Would recommend to whoever is thinking about staying here. Bathrooms a 3 minute walk away.

Luxury Tent - Pet Friendly
The grounds and facilities were well maintained and super clean! The staff was very nice and helpful, they even offered us a small space heater for our tent since it got cold at night. There is even a hiking trail on the property and it is close to downtown Carmel which was awesome. We had a great time and will definitely be back!

Really should have better pictures and maybe state that it’s a trailer park I was kept up all night from neighbors talking and partying . No camp host to state quiet hours if there is any at all.

Avoid upper drive in sites with kid
My 5 y/o, dog and I were at the top drive in site. We loved everything but the fact there are no safety railings. The site is about 12-18 fit wide and there is a cliff that eventually leads down to the lower tier, neighboring campsite. My kid was playing with the dog and rolled all the way down that cliff. Lucky, nothing serious!!!

Steal
What a steal! Our spot was secluded, a little hard to get out since you can only reverse around the hill side since its snug even for my small suv but other than that it was great! Clean bathrooms and showers. The bathroom was shared with the cabins/pre built tents and the regular drive in tent/car campers so get up early to use the bathrooms. There’s a bench, trash, fire pit and even a bbq grill. Hikes literally next to us since we were hillside. Will definitely stop by again. There’s also a Safeway along the way incase you forgot something.

Luxury Tent - Pet Friendly
Loved staying here, really nice get away. The staff was super friendly and they provided a cute little cage and bowl for my dog. Directions were very clear on how to navigate through the campsite. Wish we could’ve stayed longer loved this place, 100% recommend!!

Not What I Expected
The description provided on HIpCamp did not indicate that the site was part of a much larger campground. Also, the site lacked any privacy when a double decker van pulled in just above my camp site.
Please update the listing so others know the Saddle Mountain Resort is mostly for families and is not for a quiet getaway.

The land was very well maintained and it’s in a very beautiful part of Carmel. It’s far enough from town but still close enough to go enjoy the downtown Carmel.

On the upside: The staff were incredibly nice and helpful. The space is very clean and has everything you need. If you're a family, you'll love it here for the luxury and amenities. But if you're a regular tent camper trying to find peace and bliss in nature, you'll want to avoid. It's hard to even call this camping--there's wifi, microwave ovens, electricity everywhere. It's crowded. The sites are incredibly close to each other, closer than any other car camping experience. And while there are some amazing views, you can't really walk anywhere within the camp. Noise travels in open air and this place is NOISY--staff ride around on motorized carts that sound like very loud lawnmowers, starting early in the morning. Screaming children running on the loose, running through your space. Parents yelling at children. Your typical car camping experience, only dialed up to 11. Very pretty views, but at the price of being smothered by other humans.
