Site 1 was awesome
Beautiful, private camp site at Site 1. Super clean porto nearby. Easy access to drinking water and dishwashing. Would totally camp here again.

Nice campsite, beautiful beach!
Overall good campsite! Basic amenities, but very helpful. We were at Site 8 which is one of two that have water and an outlet, although we didn’t test it to see if power was working (some older reviews indicated it didn’t). The sites are close together - 4 and 8 are right next to each other. Port a potty toilets are relatively clean and not smelly, as mentioned in other reviews, which was good! And right next to our campsite. We were glad to have access to a sink with a drain at Site 2 to be able to wash our dishes and not get food particles on the ground. Definitely take the time to take the short trail down to the beach - it’s a truly magical beach. Honestly one of the prettiest ones I’ve seen in the world, but I think it felt extra special because it was so secluded. We went on a Monday, and there was only one other pair of people, and they left soon, and we had the whole beach to ourselves. We sat on the rocks and watched the waves crash - very peaceful. Enjoyed going to Mendocino and walking around the headlands and the town. It’s a beautiful part of the coast. To get firewood you have to text a number and get the lock combination, but we didn’t get a message back. Perhaps it was too late on the day (around 8pm on Saturday). I also didn’t have cell service but my boyfriend did. We got firewood at the store in Mendocino. We enjoyed our stay and recommend it - hope you enjoy it too!

Losing it's hip campy feel
Mixed reviews. We've stayed here a bunch of times, at least 5 that I can recall. It's an amazing property and love the access to walk to Jug Handle beach and the Pygmy Forest right from the site. As well as mid way access to Fort Bragg and beyond or Mendocino (Big River, Van Damme, biking and hiking trails).
My mixed review comes because of the Group site that was added a couple years ago. It completely takes away from the small feel and privacy that I feel Hip Camping is all about. Without fail, each time we've stayed in a weekend the last few times, there has been a large group. This time, they took up Group site 11, site 10 and site 7. So roughly 5 cars full of at least 3-4 people each with lots of kids. They screamed and shouted until 10-11pm each night. All to share the 2 porta potties with our site 6. That's a lot of people. And something we really try to avoid by Hip Camping and not going to a bigger state park to camp.
If you want a quieter experience, stay in site 8 and 5 and lower. Site 4 and lower are not as private due to adjacent sites. Site 8 isn't good for camper vans due to overhanging trees. Or don't go on weekends if possible Labor Day to Memorial Day.
Otherwise it's beautiful and peaceful if you should be so lucky. We keep coming back but starting to wonder if we shouldn't because of the Group site and not being able to come on non-weekends.

Camping in group with kids!
Beautiful site, perfect for a fun group camping. The skin and counter space are super helpful. Great area to have hammocks and play ball in the open field. What a special place!

Wonderful as always
Second time staying here and have decided to make it an annual thing because it’s one of the best camp sites I’ve ever stayed at. Clean, beautiful, spaced out sites, clean bath room and shared camp kitchen. The scenery is breathtaking…only a short walk to the beach. We look forward to our next stay.

A Hidden Gem of Nature's Serenity
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5)
Jug Handle Creek Farm is a hidden gem for nature lovers. The campsite boasts spacious and picturesque surroundings, complemented by a warm and hospitable host. The campfires under the starry sky are mesmerizing, and a short walk takes you to a beautiful beach for sunsets or fireside relaxation. The best part? You can embark on a hike right from your tent. One of the standout features of Jug Handle Creek Farm is its accessibility to hiking trails. The fact that you can embark on a 20-mile hike right from your tent is a nature lover's dream come true. Exploring the wilderness, discovering hidden gems, and witnessing the wonders of the local flora and fauna was an experience that left me in awe. It's a testament to the campsite's commitment to preserving the natural environment and providing unparalleled opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts.
Note: Campsites are close to highway 1 so you do get a bit of car noise.

Site 4 - Power & Water
This was a cute small farm with lots of lush greenery surrounding the campgrounds. It truly is right across from the beach. We stayed at Campground 4 and the water and power access was helpful. There were some unfamiliar sounds at night and a few very noisy turkeys. The “self-serve” fire wood kiosk was unhelpful in that it told us to text the host for the lock code and wait 10 minutes for a response, but we had absolutely no service on the farm! Kinda silly.
Over all a nice little camping spot for our short stay.

Site 8 - Woodland's hangout
Felt like a nice standard campground setup: closeish to neighbors, but not encroaching. Next time we would stay at the more remote one, but our site was nice since it was on the inside of the campground. Bathrooms were very clean and well kept. Water was at site next to ours so also really convenient. We had some wildlife encounters and a visit from a few deer which was pretty sweet. Trails around the site are clearly marked and lovely. Would definitely come back!

Quiet camp but only porta-potties
We stayed in camp site 1, and we enjoyed walking down to the beach! It was beautiful and quiet. The only downside is that the bathrooms are porta-potties; flush toilets would have been optimal.
Also the $10 firewood is advertised as self-serve, but you actually have to text the owner to access it. With limited cell service, this proved to be challenging. We finally had to find the owner, who happened to be outside, to get the firewood and start our fire.

Car camping at its best!
We loved campsite 6 with walk-on tambark to prevent mud in the rain (it did). And the super clean ports-potties, and water access were great. Beautiful site!

Orchard Cabin @ Jug Handle Farm
Hidden gem
Lovely little secluded cabin on the coast. Great proximity to beach and hiking trails. Wood stove is a bit large for the unit and heats it up quickly…but it does the job. Would come again.

Loved it
Perfectly reasonable campsite accommodations. Site could be a little bit larger but not a huge deal. All of the campsite locations were well marked, water and bathrooms were close. Very easy short walk to the most beautiful little beach that is great for kids and parents alike. Truly a great camping experience.

Grand Fir Cabin @ Jug Handle Farm
Such an awesome Location!
This was such a great property, location, and cabin! The Ecological Staircase hike was so gorgeous and would definitely recommend, entirely walkable from the cabins. Closeby beach was secluded and beautiful. So much to do near here! Went to a Sat-Sun Flea Market in Fort Bragg, got delicious Mediterranean food at Cravingrill (upon the host’s suggestions) and went shopping in Mendecino. Great communal kitchen, new and clean and well stocked with pots and pans and spices!
Site 7 - Family Spot
The owner is really nice, and the path to the beach is amazing. The beach itself is also great and VERY close by. Unfortunately, the trees that were pictured in the image of our campsite (the whole reason I booked that specific campsite, so we could hammock) were cut down when we arrived. Very unfortunate and sad. Most of the other campgrounds looked cute. My only other qualm is that you have to pack out your trash. I do this when backpacking and follow LNT rules, but when camping this proved to be an issue. Thankfully for us, we did not accumulate much trash, so we only had one bag to take back with us. But the fact that we had to travel 4+ hours back to our home with a stinky bag of trash was very upsetting. The lack of bear boxes was also a concern. With how expensive this was compared to a “regular” campsite, I was hoping for at least a place to dispose of our trash. There’s no where nearby to dispose of trash (legally, without extra cost) that we were aware of.
Site 9 - Walk into Forest
Beautiful location. Private and relaxing. The Access to the beach and ecological staircase are a great. Good water stations and portable toilet locations.
I didn’t enjoy cleaning out all the burnt trash and melted plastic from the fire pit that the previous campers left and general loose rubbish around the campsite.

Easy to get to, nicely kept sites, easy access to walking paths and a beach. The only negatives were the porto-potties were very full and needed emptying and cleaning, and carrying out your trash is inconvenient. Other than that it was a fantastic weekend.
