Great stay at The Russian River
I recently had the pleasure of camping at Johnson Beach Campground, and I was absolutely blown away by the experience. The campground is located right at the River beach entrance. The sites are well-spaced and private, and the facilities are clean and well-maintained.
The host, Chris and the other onsite contact, was responsive and helpful.
We spent the AM hiking at Armstrong (state park nearby), swimming at the River in the afternoon, and exploring the surrounding area (locals bars etc).
At night, we enjoyed sitting around the campfire at the preset fire pit.
Overall, I had an absolutely amazing time at this camp site. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a truly fun and well rounded camping experience.

We loved it here!! There were showers and restrooms which we loved and our site was right on the river. Such a beautiful spot and town was super close by which was nice. Directions were super clear and host was friendly. Thank you!!

What a wonderful experience! This was my first Hipcamp, and Chris A was absolutely amazing. The restrooms were clean and well stocked. The hot showers were a plus to have available on-site. Site #6 was right on the river with a picnic table and fire pit with grill attached. Safeway was literally a hop, skip and jump from the grounds. I had a relaxing and peaceful stay at Johnson's Beach! I would definitely recommend to others. Thanks Chris for making my first Hipcamp a great one!

Great campsite! Close to the river and canoe/kayak rental. Had showers and walking distance to town. Lovely restaurants and shops. Quiet, Clean and respectful campers. Great experience.

Great river access with private beach. Very quiet despite proximity to the road. 5 min walk to Safeway, cafes, and restaurants if you want easier camping.

The campsite was spacious and we loved having the river nearby. The kids loved PeeWees and biking to town. The only downside was that there were some sketchy homeless people in town.

Overall the experience was good. The facilities at the campsite such as restrooms and bathrooms were clean. They even had regular plug outlets which came handy to charge our phones. The campsite is close to the beach and they have plenty of umbrella rentals etc. As an improvement I would request the host to kindly the site map with Hipcamp because when we booked the site me and my friend got confirmation for consecutive sites but when we reached there they had got us different sites altogether. It was only a friendly gesture from a fellow camper who agreed to switch sites otherwise we would have to bare with this inconvenience. Also one group of campers were playing loud music till pretty late which I felt was just inconsiderate of the other people around.

Had a great time! The owners were welcoming and the spot had great views of the river, super easy access to town and the beach, and lots of shade. Site #1 might be the smallest available but we found a way to make it work with two very large tents. We did have to park off-site though. There is no faucet directly at this site but it’s one of the closest to the shared amenities like bathrooms, etc. I would for sure come back again but would call ahead before booking to ask what sites might work best for my group and needs. Very accessible and comfortable family camping experience overall.

We had a great time tent camping here! Staff were friendly, bathrooms were clean and well-equipped, other campers were friendly and relatively quiet. The best part was the proximity the easy access to the beach.

It was a lovely spot on the river. Sites were all very close to each other, but people were respectful and quiet. The facilities were good as well. I really loved how easy it was to walk into town as well as down to the river.

We went for one night and it was worth every second! Chris runs the campsite very smoothly and puts Malin + Goetz soap dispensers in the bathrooms which is epic. You feel taken care of and clean. The site is right on the edge of the beach. It’s a little loud at times but everyone respects quiet hours.

It was very nice I felt so safe and taken care of such a beautiful area with lots of nice people the campsite is right in the middle of town and I went walking around to talk to the people around there. They were all so welcoming and kind. The campsite self is also really amazing. I woke up to an amazing view every morning. They also have really hot water and good water pressure, which was incredibly nice considering I was staying in a tent having hot showers available to me was a lifesaver. I loved everything about this place. I would recommend it to everybody.

Great spot getting away from it all without actually getting away from it all! Super nice camp, friendly manager, town stores are a walk away, great hikes in the area, spacious camp sites, plug-ins and showers available. This place is a gem.

Chris was a fantastic host. Great area for recreation along the Russian River and also exploring the wonderful town of Guerneville. With so much to do around this area, I highly recommend staying at this spot.

Very friendly host and relaxed atmosphere on this camping, which is beautifully located on the Russian river in the charming village of Guerneville. The booking and arrival were very smooth, even when booking at short notice and arriving after 8pm. Heartily recommended!

Well maintained campsite and very helpful staff. Proximity to the river was wonderful. On its own it would absolutely be a great place to stay.
Unfortunately, it is also two blocks from mcT’s Bullpen, which has live music from 9PM to 2AM most weekend nights. The music is outrageously loud at the camp site. I’ve had more restful nights’ sleep upstairs from a bar.

Awesome glamour like tent camping… showers… flush toilettes….electricity outlets and water spigots conveniently located. Less than a 2 minute walk to the water. 2-3 minutes to town. Loved this place!

What a great campground! First of all, the location is outstanding. You can't get a better located campsite in Guerneville. The campground, Johnson's Beach, owns the beach out front and it's free to use for anyone staying there. There's even a little walking bath that leads right to it. It has all the amenities you would want or need at a campground. The grounds are very well kept, hosts are friendly and helpful, and they were very accommodating in regards to my disability. Going back to location; it's right next to a Safeway (but far enough away to where it's not right on top of you) and downtown Guerneville and all the nightlife and shops are steps away from the campground.
I can't recommend this place enough and will be back for sure!

Great location - can easily walk into town or go down to the river for swimming and kayaking. The camp sites are a little close together but the amenities like access to laundry, bathrooms and showers make up for it.
