The Range was once a mountain covered in hardwood and evergreens as well as a peach orchard. After some shale mining and natural gas pipelines, The Range is now about 15 acres of shale pit and 35 acres of wooded area with a real variety of terrain and wildlife including deer, coyotes, wild turkeys, bobcats, and other small mammals and reptiles. The Range is used to fund a nonprofit organization called The God SCWAD which is a Christian ministry that helps people in need of medical respiratory equipment.
