Pitch your tent and start fishing in the pond! Then enjoy a hot shower, cozy up by the campfire, and relax on this beautiful, 10-acre campground full of amenities to ensure you have a relaxing stay.

About the property

Down a hidden gravel drive with wetlands on either side you will find a completely fenced in field surrounded by pine, oak, and swamp maple trees. There are two ponds located on the property both stocked with bass, bluegill, and sunfish. The front pond is home to many natural Florida wildlife and is a great location to bird watch. The property is also home to several sheep and Pency the Llama.

Located a few miles from Brooksville and the Suncoast Parkway, this quiet and peaceful setting is just 5 minutes from the parking area and trailhead for the Suncoast Trail and 10 miles from the famous Weeki Wachee Springs, where you can spend the day at the local park or float down the river with the manatees.

Withlacoochee State Park and other natural preserves with trail access and kayaking are only a short distance away, and Dames Cave, Homosassa Springs, and Chasawiska Springs are all within a ~20-minute drive as well. Spending a day at the beach is easy with plenty of options along the Nature Coast. We’re also less than an hour from Tampa and Clearwater and two hours from Orlando.

A perfect weekend get-away for anyone looking to “unplug,” Smokey Acres is also a great stop for those passing through the area. We are a close distance to many racing, livestock, boating and fishing events. We have no problem accommodating whatever you’re towing!

Whether you'd like a leisurely day on the river or an adventure in the Gulf, there are plenty of boating options nearby. Be sure to make it back to the property in time to enjoy amazing sunsets that bring peace and tranquility to your experience.

Our neighbors, JG Ranch, offers U- Pick Fruit and Vegetables or a great selection of local harvest at their roadside stand.

This 10-acre property has been in my family for decades. My Husband and I were married under the oaks and have had our share of campfires together out there.

I've recently moved back home with my own family and as much as we enjoy the land for ourselves we'd love to share it. Any profit from hosting campers will help us maintain our sustainable farm that we're hoping to expand onto Smokey Acres.

There was plenty of room to set up tents and the kids got to run around and play since there was so much space. The road getting there is rough and would not take a car down it but if you have a truck or SUV it’s fine. I used google maps and it took me right to where we need to go. It was about a 15 minute drive to Weeki Wachee and about 5 minutes to a Walmart. I would stay there again.

We had a wonderful time camping over Easter weekend. The property was peaceful, quiet, and the sites are well spread out. There are not barriers between sites, so you can see what everyone is up to, but that doesn’t bother us at all. We like the open space so my 4 year old could do an easter egg hunt, fly kites, and run around. I felt comfortable letting her roam a little from me since I could see everything that was going on and any cars that may be coming and going.
The dish washing station was a nice touch. We didn’t bother using the shower because we were only there for 2 nights but it looked like it would get the job done.
There is one toilet, which made me nervous for the amount of tent sites, but once again that was not an issue at all
We really enjoyed seeing the goats. 2 babies were even born the first night we were there!
There is sometimes firewood there but not always. We stopped at a stand on the way and grabbed 6 logs, which us got us through the first night. They restocked the next day. Hilary had mentioned that it’s a good idea to bring some in case there isn’t any and I am glad we had.
There is a cluster of grills available first come first serve. Just grab a grill when needed and return when done.
I thought I had read in the description that there was water and electricity at the site but that was not the case. Two people in our group ran to Walmart (close by) to get a converter so we could use the car to air up our air mattresses.

Overall, I would tentatively recommend this campsite. On one hand, it was fairly cheap, the proximity to grocery stores was great, and it had a lot of things nearby that we could do. On the other hand, the campsite itself was a bit lackluster, as it's mostly a flat, grassy field with little privacy from other campers. The campsites are placed far from each other which was good, and each has a picnic table and water hookup. We went during March and there were TONS of bugs, from mosquitoes to constant silkworms hanging from the trees and getting on our clothes and belongings. This isn't necessarily the fault of the host but it was our experience.

The hosts are both very friendly and were extremely responsive when we wanted to reach them. I reserved our spot, and they then asked us if we could move to an impromptu camping site because they accidentally double-booked. We agreed, and upon arriving they said 'actually, we have a proper site open for you, so you can stay here' and we were like 'great'! However, after the first night we were there, we were told to move to an impromptu camping space as another family had already made a reservation at our current campsite. I really wish they had let us know the day in advance that we would have to move campsites after a single night there, as it was unexpected and put a damper on the mood as we had to spend a half-hour/hourish moving our three tents and all of our stuff.
