The best camping near Lac-Témiscouata National Park

Although just designated a Sépaq National Park in 2009, the history of Lac-Témiscouata reaches back far longer. Indigenous Peoples have been present in the area for more than 10,000 years, and some of that history is on display at over 30 archeological sites and in the Discovery Centre within the park. Three campgrounds—all with water access—serve as home base for hiking, biking, and historical exploration in this family-friendly park.

• Best for those who like amenities: Serviced and semi-serviced sites, plus the Discovery Centre and a small shop at the Anse-à-William campground.
• Best for families: Kids love the natural playground and access to the Des Curieux de Nature trail at the Grand Lac-Touladi campground.
• Best for those who travel light: The Grands-Pins campground is made up exclusively of ready to camp sites with equipped frontier tents. 

1. Reserve your campsite online from the Sépaq website. Reservations open mid-November for summer of the following year.
2. Create your online account in advance to make the reservation process easier.
3. A 2-night minimum applies for advance reservations. One-night stays can be booked up to 72 hours before arrival.
4. Canoe camping sites (part of the Grand Lac-Touladi campground) must be reserved via phone: 1-800-665-6527.

Camping is only available mid-May until mid-October at Lac-Témiscouata National Park. The weather in southern Quebec is warmest in July and August, which is also when the park is busiest. Spring and fall are quieter, but have the risk of inclement weather.

• It’s called a national park, but Lac-Témiscouata is administered by Sépaq, a Quebec provincial body. As such, Parks Canada passes don’t work here. A separate service fee applies for park entry, which can be purchased as an annual pass or daily. The daily admission can only be purchased up to 30 days in advance. 
• If cycling and camping, the Anse à William campground has dedicated sites that don’t need to be reserved in advance. Just register upon arrival.
• Accessible toilets are available in the visitors’ centres and at each campground.
