Site 3 - Sunshine Motel Rustic Camping
The campsites at Sunshine Motel are exactly as advertised and well maintained. The sites are rustic with no facilities, but are spacious with fire rings and picnic tables. It is a little walk from the parking lot and there are little lights to guide the way in the evenings. These sites are proximal to the Porcupine Mountains and Ontonagon. Our only difficulty was mosquitos, but that’s the UP for ya

This site is surrounded by beautiful Michigan forest, even though it is on the motel property is feels very private. Really liked that there was a short walk to Lake Superior.

Had a blast once again.
Always love staying here. Brought my pup with me and we had a great time. Even found my first agate on the private beach! Totally recommend staying here! I already booked my next stay.

Sunshine Motel Rustic Camping
Proceed With Caution
I didn’t get to experience Sunshine Motel Rustic camping. I was unaware from the initial description that they didn’t allow vehicle camping at their sites. I messaged them as soon as I saw in their description that it was prohibited, but I didn’t see this rule until I was already hours away from home and supposed to stay there that night. I was informed about an hour later that there was no way I could stay at their site and that they wouldn’t issue a refund, as it’s not their policy. I understand that I made a mistake and it’s not their responsibility to care. However, I felt that they could have been less dismissive. I was able to find another campsite three hours away and they were able to make an exception for their two night policy. Had it not been for them, I would have been over five hours from home with no where to sleep. I recommend using caution when booking this site and reading the rules and policies thoroughly, well before leaving for your trip.
