Tyler & Lucy is a Star Host
Star Hosts are highly rated, responsive, and committed to providing incredible experiences.
We welcome campers to the beautiful land where we live, a wooded 4 acres on "Birch Point" which juts into the lively salt-water Machias Bay. Your hosts, Lucy and Tyler, are homesteading musicians, currently developing a biodynamic community farm and garden project, with our off-grid house still in construction. Please be aware that you will be entering a *working farm*, full of life! Your stay with us is bound to be social and lively at times. There are places on the land that offer privacy, yet overall it is a cozy and intimate setting. We greatly welcome feedback for being the best homesteader-hosts we can be. ----------------------------------------------------------------- *2024 SUMMER SEASON INFO* - We have a hand-pump on our well that you can use for your fresh water supply 💩 There is no shower or bath option at this time (other than a fresh dip in the bay!) - Our state-of-the-primitive-art out house is available for your use 🌙 tucked into the woods along the path to the overlook and bay beach. - At this time we do *not* have firewood available for sale. If you plan to make a fire in the fire pit (which is 100% welcome!) please bring wood and kindling with you đŸ”„ - The walk down to the flat rock beach is erosion-prone. Please be aware of your steps and tread lightly to help us keep the natural moss and ground cover in tact! đŸŒ± --------------------------------------------------------------- Mostly wooded with small clearings, this land is a comfortable camping environment. There is a common fire pit in view of the ocean, glinting through the trees. Wild animals, like deer and foxes, and many bird species abound, filling the land with life and song. We’re so grateful to live on this piece of paradise, and wish to share the beauty and magic of the land with you! On the bold coast of Downeast Maine, we offer (a) tent sites in a grove of young maple trees, and (b) a canvas bell tent atop a wooden platform with a double-mattress. Both of these options are easily accessible from the parking area. A short saunter through the woods will bring you to an open water vista, overlooking a tidal bay fed by the Machias River. These are very refreshing (chilly!) and strong tidal waters. There are also beautiful (warmer) lakes and many hiking trails nearby, notably the Cutler Bold Coast Trail with epic seaside cliffs. Expect the area to be relatively buggy in summer months, and prepare to do head-to-toe tick checks! We’re about a 10 minute drive from the town of Machias where you can fill up on supply and provisioning needs. We're about 30 minutes from Lubec and 50 minutes from Eastport, two lovely seaside towns with art galleries, cafĂ©s, restaurants, and abundant coastal view points. We look forward to welcoming you and your close ones soon for a visit on Birch Point :-)

Incredibly beautiful and well maintained property! We had a really great stay, and Lucy and Tyler were such gracious hosts. They went above and beyond the property description, making sure we had fresh water, silverware, etc. plus they had a communal fire built that would have made for a very easy cooking situation. The location is unbeatable; the site looks directly over the water and is gorgeous. The outhouse was also way cleaner and more comfortable than any other campsite we’ve been to!

Campsite w/ a view + Communal vibe.
Camping on Tyler & Lucy's property was comfortable, welcoming, scenic and relaxing. The site overlooks the Machias Bay and has lots of shade provided by the surrounding trees. It is important to note that this site is in their backyard but far enough away from their house that you do feel privacy at the site. The fire pit is communal and is close to Lucy & Tyler's house so if you want a private fire pit, this location may not be for you. This is not a site where your car is right next to you, so be prepared to walk your belongings from the road to your site. It is not a long walk and they provide a wheel barrow for ease. The outhouse is also shared and is to be used for #2 only ;-) We did have dinner with Tyler & Lucy our last night there at the fire pit which we really enjoyed. There are places to swim nearby and hikes to do nearby as well! We enjoyed our stay and we would go again!

I absolutely loved the campsite! Views of the water were beautiful. Tyler and Lucy were incredibly welcoming and have a beautiful farm space. Best part was the dance party by the fire! Would absolutely camp here again. :)

The area for camping is well placed with good privacy, serene views, and the feeling of being away in the woods while actually just a minute walk from the parking. On the way to the campsite you will pass their lovely home and impressive garden with veggies, herbs, and flowers. The outhouse is clean and well organized/stocked. Tyler and Lucy are personable, communicative, and generous. We would absolutely stay here again.

This was such a beautiful and peaceful place to camp during a bikepacking trip down the bold coast bikeway. Lucy and Tyler were great hosts! Thank you for the warm welcome and freshly baked bread.
