Star Hosts are highly rated, responsive, and committed to providing incredible experiences.
We have 4 acres of flat land with lots of flower beds. Our property has a great view of a BNSF rail line, about 1 mile away as the crow flies, so trains are heard. You can bring your own tent or we can set one up for you with a large inflatable queen size bed. You'll need to bring your own sheets and pillows. If you want to just escape home quickly, book our Cabin Shalom where everything is ready for you including sheets, fridge, microwave, coffee pot, tv with DVD, wifi, and a chimnea fireplace We have firepits and $5.00 firewood bundles available and I can provide smore makings if interested at a $12.00 per package charge. We are halfway between Rochelle (with it's railroad museum, Kennay's Distillery, Artist's Garden, other quaint shops, and Chicago Land Skydiving Center) and Dixon-the hometown of Ronald Reagan and the Petunia Festival. We are close to Nachusa Grasslands with their buffalo and Franklin Creek Park with it's natural spring and hiking trails and Oregon with their bike paths and Autumn on the Prairie in Oregon Illinois.

Camper/RV spot
Steve and Jennifer were very responsive before I even arrived. When I got there Jennifer greeted me and helped me charge my phone since my van charger had a breakdown. Very friendly, even let me borrow a flashlight since I was so unprepared! Site was quiet and I felt very safe and slept great.

Romantic country outpost
Steve and Jennifer are a warm and friendly couple who hosted us in our camper van. We were very tired after 5 weeks on the road and it was the perfect place to refresh and recharge. The place has a very peaceful vibe and is beautiful. The space on the grass was nice and flat and a picnic table, fire pit, and garbage bins were provided. Yes, you certainly hear trains coming through, and we weren’t bothered by it (bring ear plugs if you are sensitive), They have a quaint outdoor DIY composting toilet, which can seem odd if you’re not accustomed to the concept, but we were happy to have this facility at our disposal :-). The outdoor shower was also welcome and worked like a charm, providing us with much appreciated hot showers. We would definitely stay here again!

Cabin Shalom
Our stay at Cabin Shalom was a tranquil and charming getaway. The property's lush gardens and fruit trees created a serene backdrop. The cabin, offering unexpected comfort, was a cozy retreat. We found the outdoor shower tent, volleyball net, and fire pits at each campsite to be delightful additions. Steve and Jennifer's warm hospitality, including bringing us s'mores supplies while we were relaxing fireside, and thoughtful amenities, made our stay truly enjoyable. Our time here was both comfortable and peaceful.
